@Bytheemperor The 1st Kronous Liberators will not be swayed by the greater good! The tau will fall. One day we will take the fight directly to there home planet and we will take it from them In the name of the Emperor!
@oceancity47 Oh come on... even lousy chaos marines have gotten ur imperial guard on the run on cadia... furthermore, tiranids are still lurking there and the imperium is so doomed that... well...
Perhaps mankind might consider into joining the greater good as gue'vesha... or to be consumed by the chaos gods, as the one in the golden toilet seems to do little to avoid this (cadia again, as an example).
@kappow4 well, the tau have grown quite much ever since. And the imperium is falling apart pretty fast indeed. Needless to say that the adeptus mechanicus had already found some fatal faillures on the golden throne (and that ain't good pal) XD. Of course, the ethereal caste knows that facing the imperium head on is suicide. But slowly more and more imperial worlds are passing under tau's rule. Why? Because they are truly fair and respect freedom. And such is something that really matters.
@kappow4 You are so right on that part, and the Damocles was a tiny half-assed crusade really, no thorough planning went into it, the Imperium's crusade was simplistic:"Kill all Tau" the Great crusade had more planning than the Damocles, and if the Imperium had actually thought out and plannend the Damocles? guaranteed Tau would not have been alive to even see Nids.
@GeneralSturnn Yes, and Tau learned A LOT from such encounter (as well as the human tactics and so on), and demostrated that knowledge on the Taros Campaign... that's indeed what i like from tau, they are never static nor stagnant. They are there to learn from their errors and so they become stronger as time goes by.
@Bytheemperor You know, even learning about Human tactics, the Tau could not withstand a full blown crusade(if another was to ever happen) like I mentioned, Damocles wasn't even planned, it was just a simple:"Okay, these little alien bugger's are taking our world's, IT'S TIME TO WRECK SHIT WOOOO!"
@GeneralSturnn Of course i know it, as well as it is know by the water & ethereal caste. But take into consideration that the imperium has threats that are far more menacing than the tau (tyranids, main fleet comming, as well as chaos from the 13th Black crusade). And all those dangers (tau included) are GROWING. It will take no long time for the imperium to be unable to repel them all....
A real shame that the golden toilet does not have any ejection button...
@pwnagetothamax And all humans that ever stood in their way compromize less than 1% of humanity. Add to that all the other races that fight the Tyranids...well you get the picture.
@pwnagetothamax "There are definitly more swarm ships than we have planets. It's more than possible that there are more swarm fleets than when have planets!" that should be more or less the quote of the codex :D

@Neakob yeah the leman russ would be devoured instantly haha dont get me wrong the Imperium is pretty badass but the Imperium would not stand a chance against chaos in the warp its impossible That is my honest Oppinion
Imperial Guard are good for grinding down the enemy. Space Marines! live for Battle, and we Finish wars faster, and obliterate all who stand before us! WE ARE ULTRA!
The glory of The Greater Good outshines your false god. Also a question, aren't the Ogren a mutation, and thus one of the thing the Imperium opposes most?
I thought the hammer of the emperor was the Grey Knights of the Ordo Malleus? "We Grey Knights are the Hammers, we slay the Darkness without fear." - Excerpt from the Grey Knight's Canticle of Absolution. ofc i could be wrong
We cannot falter at this hour. The Archenemy is not at our door, it has trespassed them and it is our holy endevour to crush them to the last.
This, we can never achieve alone. Only a blind faith in the Emperor of Man will give us the holy fire we seek to thwart our unholy foes in their quest. Only Him and save your soul against their dark powers.
So do not let Him down. Grab your lasrifle and fight back. TODAY WE WIN CADIA BACK FROM THE DESPOILER!
the imperium of man is not primitive there tanks would decimate anything in modern day and also the imperial guard is basically limitless because of how many die they only need numbers to conquer anything
Also, like Staline said, quantity posses a quality of it's own. Sometimes, ''olds technologie'' use wisely and with decent number can always win over high tech gadget. Just look at own the Imperium own the Tau in warhammer 40k.
Leman Russ was actually a Space Marine Primarch :). And no, the tanks are not primitive, they are always ubgraded with the latest tech. Just like the T80 that are used by Egyptian Military or other less powerfull developed countries. They are old in design, but are ubgraded with the latest tech that specific tank can be ubgraded with. Ofc, it will never equal a modern-day Leopard or Leclerc tank that was designed to be implemented with the latest tech, but it can still perform well in the field.
i'm a big fan of the story too but what annoys me are the human tanks ... sooo fkin primitive they are basicaly WW1 and WW2 models changed a bit pretty pointless if you ask me
No none of them are primitive. The guys at GW who designed them to look like WW1 andWW2 tanks cause tanks back then looked awesome. Nowadays tanks although advanced look well boring. But the kind of tech used in Imperial tanks in 40k is WAY more advanced than anything feasibly possible with todays tech. Seriously if someone made a real Leman Russ there would probably be an atomic war to decide who gets it. They have advanced tech and look awesome they are in no way primitive.
No they're not. The guys at GW designed them to look like WW1/WW2 tanks. Because, lets face it modern tanks are advanced but don't look that cool. If someone actually made a real Leman Russ there would probably be a nuclear war over it. Thats how advanced they are. We won't have tech like that for millenea yet. But then again the tech the humans in 40k have is primitive compared to what they USED to have cause they forgot how to make alot of it. Look old, have god-like tech thats the idea.
The Leman Russ'es tracks make it a cumbersome machine, even GW states so, inside it the crew suffers from heat , noise and fumes, just like inside a World World I Mark V tank.
So it's a slow moving, high profiled , heavy and cumbersome machine. It may be advanced as fuck on the inside, but it still moves like a snail.
Orkses wartrucks out run it, Eldar grav tanks outgun AND outrun it, Tau tanks outgun it on a regular basis.
So yeah, all the Imperium has on it's side is quantity.
Well, the Leman Russ as the Basic Tank is a frigin awsome combination of Firepower, Armor and Speed nobody else than the Guard can trust in such a vehicle. You can chose the basic Russ for everything or get one of the different Variants for a special purpose. There the Eldar, Orcs or Tau have nothing that can compare to this.
Notice that Eldar, Tau and Ork vehicles are usually painted in rather bright colors and therefore they are visible from miles and miles away. Now let's assume the imperial battle cannon has an effective range of miles and miles away, like modern tanks. Boom! Imperium scores. Then we can add an overwhelming quantity, and superior tactics of imperial armoured divisions, combined of vehicles of different design and purpose. And of course we can't forget about (in)famous imperial artillery support.
The Tau use camouflage in a more high tech manner then the Emperium. Actually the Tau are digi camo -ing their Tanks while the Imperium are still just stpray painting theirs green or yellow or white world war 2 style. So yeah, when it comes to camouflage Imperium fails.
@Anonymous934 Orks are pretty infamous for their artillery or for pretty much anything that goes BOOM! on the battlefield. The shootiest buggy is a prize possesision for every self respecting Warboss.
Plus, Eldar relly on speed and STEALTH that means they use force fields that renders their tanks invisible plus they out gun the Leman Russes on a daily basis. Face it, all the Imperium has is it's numbers. and it's numbers are slowly dwelling on each new codex... so yeah.
Hmm... I believe that such advanced cloaking systems require a lot of power and therefore create a substantial drain on tank's batteries. Besides since it is a part of the high tech systems, it is possible that in the heat of battle it can be damaged or destroyed (not to mention it can just go haywire by itself just like windows) revealing a bright yellow tank in all it's glory.
I stand corrected. Haven't seen any Tau color scheme other than that orange-ish one.
And about the Red Baron concept. I somehow can't imagine an effective military force in bright coloured uniforms in the middle of a city-fight. (Unless they are in Terminator Armour and port right next to you.)
The thing is that it has good balance between firepower and armor which make it very effective tank! AND the Imperial guard can get much more tanks than any race :)
Firepower of a dynamic long ranged , high tech army like Tau can overwhelm and outgun ANYTHING that the Imperium has to offer. So send in more tanks, make those markers find their fat targets, if the Tau can kill you from the line of horizon and STILL get away in time, until you recover and cut your losses, then it's safe to say YOU WILL NEVER CATCH THEM.
It's like trying to pick a sword fight with a Mongol rider...
Firstly, I think you should be shot for heresy and for treason
Second, I checked the Tau codex and I realized that all Tau tanks (Hammerhead, Delvish and Sky ray) are not even Fast just Skimmers! So how are they faster than any vehicle (except Leman russ because of the Lumbering Behemoth)
That makes it them avoid terrain, but it counts Immobilized for a Vehicle destroyed instead! That seriously affect how tough that tank is!
Every Imperium tank is a Lumbering Behemoth. Besides that which floats above ground using anti-grav engines is WAAY more verstaile and speedy then that which sticks to ground using WW 1 type threads....
Technically no, no army has an endless supply of men, but the Imperial Guard has so many men it may as well be endless.
Think about it this way. The Soviets never really ran out of men in World War 2 despite the horrendous losses they took, and their pool of manpower is unbelievably small in Comparison to the Imperiums.
To put the scale of the Imperiums resources in some kind of scale, there are hives worlds with hundreds of billions of people on them, an the Imperium has a million worlds.
@Freakonweels yes and also take into account the millions of hive gangs created which are basically a pre-training ground on hive worlds which speed the inevitable "recruit" training time up so that by time they Guard gets their hands on them they need really only enforce the imperial creed, troop assignment, and give them their kits before sending them off to fight and in the process get mission specific and specialist training making the force always ready to fight by time they hit.
Acutally, they almost did break. Much as you would like to think of it, Conscripts with guns are just regular civilians given a uniform, gun, and a mag or two of ammo before being sent off to fight.
@Freakonweels actually the imperium does literally have an endless supply of men... consider this, it's a known fact that if the entire population of china walked past you 6 abreast the march would never end due to the rate of production... now consider that this is only one country on a single planet... "Master of a thousand worlds" lots of babies being made in the imperium
@Freakonweels Hello the soviets did reached their peak with 12 million men in arms.The womans are forced to work in the factorys.So yes they did started to run out of menpower.Imperium is totally different.
It has barbaric humans they birth rate is a mliion time higher than our own.So.
How ever i think the thinking system behind the imp army is very primitive.They barley reaching the old 16-17 century level of military knowladge.
They use largerly germanic tacticals world view.....
@Freakonweels they don't realy have a million worlds its just somthing they say becouse they just stopped counting there the empire has allot more than just 1 million
@haloman4311 Yeah. The Imperiam of man has trillions of soldiers, and enough vehicles to cover earth a couple thousand times. Imaging our population, of 8ish billion, times a hundred thousand or so. That's a good estimate of the numbers of men in the Imperial Guard... They only reason they ever lose a battle, is because they can't fit even a tiny percentage of men on a planet XD
@haloman4311 individual parts of the machine that is the Imperial Guard can run out of troops. But there is an endless supply of replacements for those guardsmen lost. think of it this way, you loose 120,000 guardsmen, you go to a hive world and a standard earth like world. the hive gives you 500k and the standard gives you 75k. there are a hundreds of thousands of other worlds that can do that, dozens of times a month. that's why its limitless.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
so , u are saying , that
bilions of men just armed in lasgun and they loyalty is that small that they must be killed by theyr own commisar so they wont run away is a sledgehammer
and a space marines , who have blood of emperor himself , geneticly modified warriors who know no fear , some chapters havent lost a single battle in 10k years , and if u look closer to codex 1 sm = 10 ig ,weilding holy weapon (bolter) and theyr are a scalpel
Why does everyone forgot that the IG have tanks the size of houses ever herd of a baneblade? Lemanruss? named after the primarch gotta say something about tank dont you think?
@purikov Wow, ridiculously stupid response. Yes they are a scalpel. When it takes a squad or 2 of Astartes to do what a Lord General and an entire IG army couldn't do, I would call that precision. The argument between whether an Astartes or IG is better is the dumbest argument in WH40K history. They serve different purposes but both are COMPLETELY necessary.
This is definitely true. The IG have the benefit of overwhelming momentum with their seemingly endless supply of recruits and materials. The space marines are more like a shock troop. What id do is id send the marines to make a hole in the line, then slam it with the momentum of the guard. Take it like a log splitting axe. The Space marines are the tip, and the IG is the weight of the axe and the force of it's fall.
@Godspeed909 i agree. and i think that a company of space marines coupled with a regiment or two of IG and of course using tactics and intelligence could conceivably pacify and entire planet
The Sisters prove a completely different roll. They are an instrument of the Ecclisiarch (spelling?). They deal only with heretics. The different branches of the Imperium are extremely complicated, and their rolls even more such. There is some interesting fluff on the history of the Sisters of Battle. Wiki it and you will find out more than I can tell you. It's an interesting read.
hell yeah i am gonna join ya...i hate the arrogant tau..i have the comic fire and honour and it is totally awesome bcuz the guard kicked some tau arse!!

Some of the Tanks are primitive but some of them are highly futuristic. The Leviathan is a good example
cwoods102688 2 years ago
the imperium of man is not primitive there tanks would decimate anything in modern day and also the imperial guard is basically limitless because of how many die they only need numbers to conquer anything
cammmando 2 years ago
@cammmando
Also, like Staline said, quantity posses a quality of it's own. Sometimes, ''olds technologie'' use wisely and with decent number can always win over high tech gadget. Just look at own the Imperium own the Tau in warhammer 40k.
Neakob 2 years ago

cammmando 2 years ago
Leman Russ was actually a Space Marine Primarch :). And no, the tanks are not primitive, they are always ubgraded with the latest tech. Just like the T80 that are used by Egyptian Military or other less powerfull developed countries. They are old in design, but are ubgraded with the latest tech that specific tank can be ubgraded with. Ofc, it will never equal a modern-day Leopard or Leclerc tank that was designed to be implemented with the latest tech, but it can still perform well in the field.
Migueria 2 years ago
the leman russes are a little primitive but when your fighting for survival you might go back to the old stuff because its easier
Protheans 2 years ago
i'm a big fan of the story too but what annoys me are the human tanks ... sooo fkin primitive they are basicaly WW1 and WW2 models changed a bit pretty pointless if you ask me
Borkata991 2 years ago
Do note.. That Basilisks, Leman Russes, the Baneblade and so on are not primative. They're fucking firepower.
Unkehz0r 2 years ago 2
@Borkata991
They have advanced tech and look awesome they are in no way primitive.
kingkong381 1 year ago
No they're not. The guys at GW designed them to look like WW1/WW2 tanks. Because, lets face it modern tanks are advanced but don't look that cool. If someone actually made a real Leman Russ there would probably be a nuclear war over it. Thats how advanced they are. We won't have tech like that for millenea yet. But then again the tech the humans in 40k have is primitive compared to what they USED to have cause they forgot how to make alot of it. Look old, have god-like tech thats the idea.
kingkong381 1 year ago
@kingkong381
So yeah, all the Imperium has on it's side is quantity.
germanMasterroach 1 year ago
Well, the Leman Russ as the Basic Tank is a frigin awsome combination of Firepower, Armor and Speed nobody else than the Guard can trust in such a vehicle. You can chose the basic Russ for everything or get one of the different Variants for a special purpose. There the Eldar, Orcs or Tau have nothing that can compare to this.
FieserMoep 1 year ago
Notice that Eldar, Tau and Ork vehicles are usually painted in rather bright colors and therefore they are visible from miles and miles away. Now let's assume the imperial battle cannon has an effective range of miles and miles away, like modern tanks. Boom! Imperium scores. Then we can add an overwhelming quantity, and superior tactics of imperial armoured divisions, combined of vehicles of different design and purpose. And of course we can't forget about (in)famous imperial artillery support.
Anonymous934 1 year ago
@Anonymous934
Actually you're wrong.
The Tau use camouflage in a more high tech manner then the Emperium. Actually the Tau are digi camo -ing their Tanks while the Imperium are still just stpray painting theirs green or yellow or white world war 2 style. So yeah, when it comes to camouflage Imperium fails.
germanMasterroach 1 year ago
@Anonymous934 Orks are pretty infamous for their artillery or for pretty much anything that goes BOOM! on the battlefield. The shootiest buggy is a prize possesision for every self respecting Warboss.
Plus, Eldar relly on speed and STEALTH that means they use force fields that renders their tanks invisible plus they out gun the Leman Russes on a daily basis. Face it, all the Imperium has is it's numbers. and it's numbers are slowly dwelling on each new codex... so yeah.
germanMasterroach 1 year ago
Anonymous934 1 year ago
@Anonymous934
Bright yellow Tau tanks are only bright yellow in bright yellow terrain such as deserts and drylands, and that goes for ALL Tau vehicles.
Bright grey Tau tanks are only bright grey in bright grey sorroundings, it's called camouflage. AND that's using it wisely.
As for the Eldars are concerned, their tanks are brightly colored so that they are in your face and mocking you. ( Red Baron concept).
You might see me, but you sure as hell CAN'T harm me in any way. Lol!
germanMasterroach 1 year ago
@germanMasterroach
Anonymous934 1 year ago
The thing is that it has good balance between firepower and armor which make it very effective tank! AND the Imperial guard can get much more tanks than any race :)
lubi125 1 year ago
@lubi125
It's like trying to pick a sword fight with a Mongol rider...
germanMasterroach 1 year ago
Firstly, I think you should be shot for heresy and for treason
Second, I checked the Tau codex and I realized that all Tau tanks (Hammerhead, Delvish and Sky ray) are not even Fast just Skimmers! So how are they faster than any vehicle (except Leman russ because of the Lumbering Behemoth)
That makes it them avoid terrain, but it counts Immobilized for a Vehicle destroyed instead! That seriously affect how tough that tank is!
lubi125 1 year ago
@lubi125
Every Imperium tank is a Lumbering Behemoth. Besides that which floats above ground using anti-grav engines is WAAY more verstaile and speedy then that which sticks to ground using WW 1 type threads....

@germanMasterroach

how could you possibly have an endless supply of men? Honestly, if you waste them all, you will end up with nothing but yourself
haloman4311 2 years ago
Technically no, no army has an endless supply of men, but the Imperial Guard has so many men it may as well be endless.
Think about it this way. The Soviets never really ran out of men in World War 2 despite the horrendous losses they took, and their pool of manpower is unbelievably small in Comparison to the Imperiums.
To put the scale of the Imperiums resources in some kind of scale, there are hives worlds with hundreds of billions of people on them, an the Imperium has a million worlds.
Freakonweels 2 years ago 50
@Freakonweels They have so many legions and regiments they actually lost track a couple million to my understanding.
Dordrius 1 year ago
@Freakonweels yes and also take into account the millions of hive gangs created which are basically a pre-training ground on hive worlds which speed the inevitable "recruit" training time up so that by time they Guard gets their hands on them they need really only enforce the imperial creed, troop assignment, and give them their kits before sending them off to fight and in the process get mission specific and specialist training making the force always ready to fight by time they hit.
Kurz99 1 year ago
@Freakonweels
Acutally, they almost did break. Much as you would like to think of it, Conscripts with guns are just regular civilians given a uniform, gun, and a mag or two of ammo before being sent off to fight.
VincenttoChaos 1 year ago
@Freakonweels A million worlds & numberless souls. :)
kingsman565 1 year ago
@Freakonweels actually the imperium does literally have an endless supply of men... consider this, it's a known fact that if the entire population of china walked past you 6 abreast the march would never end due to the rate of production... now consider that this is only one country on a single planet... "Master of a thousand worlds" lots of babies being made in the imperium
1R0QU012 1 year ago
@Freakonweels Hello the soviets did reached their peak with 12 million men in arms.The womans are forced to work in the factorys.So yes they did started to run out of menpower.Imperium is totally different.
It has barbaric humans they birth rate is a mliion time higher than our own.So.
How ever i think the thinking system behind the imp army is very primitive.They barley reaching the old 16-17 century level of military knowladge.
They use largerly germanic tacticals world view.....

They only reason they ever lose a battle, is because they can't fit even a tiny percentage of men on a planet XD
waaaacrazy 1 year ago
@haloman4311 tier world thei unverse is diffrent they are getting fresh supply form untold miiloins of worlds

GhostSarge 1 year ago
@GhostSarge just one million.
wicNKWD37 1 year ago
@haloman4311 individual parts of the machine that is the Imperial Guard can run out of troops. But there is an endless supply of replacements for those guardsmen lost. think of it this way, you loose 120,000 guardsmen, you go to a hive world and a standard earth like world. the hive gives you 500k and the standard gives you 75k. there are a hundreds of thousands of other worlds that can do that, dozens of times a month. that's why its limitless.

Godspeed909 2 years ago 2
scalpel doesnt destroys armies of chaos and scalpel doesnt have orbital bombardment that can erase planets
purikov 2 years ago
This is definitely true. The IG have the benefit of overwhelming momentum with their seemingly endless supply of recruits and materials. The space marines are more like a shock troop. What id do is id send the marines to make a hole in the line, then slam it with the momentum of the guard. Take it like a log splitting axe. The Space marines are the tip, and the IG is the weight of the axe and the force of it's fall.
bgscott1989 2 years ago
@Godspeed909 i agree. and i think that a company of space marines coupled with a regiment or two of IG and of course using tactics and intelligence could conceivably pacify and entire planet

The Sisters prove a completely different roll. They are an instrument of the Ecclisiarch (spelling?). They deal only with heretics. The different branches of the Imperium are extremely complicated, and their rolls even more such. There is some interesting fluff on the history of the Sisters of Battle. Wiki it and you will find out more than I can tell you. It's an interesting read.
Godspeed909 2 years ago
I.e Ordo Hereticus, Ordo Malleus, Ordo Xenos (I think its called).
Ordo Hereticus's militant factor are the Sisters of battle. And Ordo hereticus's role is primarily against Heretics within and without the Imperium.
Ordo Malleus, they solely deal with Daemons. Their Militant sect are the Grey Knights.
Ordo Xeno's is self explainatory. Aliens. Deathwatch being their militant sect.
