Where as Saddam had played hard on sectarian divisions between Sunni's and Shiites, Qaddafi used mostly foreign mercenaries and his own tribe for support.
Saddam had brutalized his people into submission and let them get squeezed by years of sanctions. Qaddafi's people were, *relatively speaking* in much better shape when they started protesting.
Saddam was not overthrown by a rebellion, he was annihilated by an invasion. Qaddafi's own people took him down.
@illustriouschin just give the Chinese a call, they can rebuild it again, be good for business, of course it would be dangerous to go in there. Did you see the way Gaddafi was handled compared to saddam, huge difference.
@Wolfsbane909 That would be a fairly decent solution, they having been building ghost towns that sprawl out for hundreds of miles for a while now, so they are in obvious need for something to do. Of course the problem is that no one in Libya would be able to afford the rent in the new Chinese buildings.
@illustriouschin nobdy said anything about rent or payment, Libya has oil resources that is needed in China, an trade can be established with the NTC. Of course it is entirely up to the NTC, they say they are for the people let's see if that's true or will they just covet power for themselves? Will they restore infrastructure damaged and destroyed in the war or will they just pocket the money themselves? Who will they trade the oil with?
