Depends what you are looking for. If you want a reliable daily driver, you should be able to find a better deal else where. But I haven't seen the 'vair you were looking at so it maybe worth it. Generally though, you can find a nice looking 'vair for under $6000. If you go to Jaxed sitemash (google it) you can find all the recent listing of Corvair and any other car for that matter from all over the country through site like craigslist and ebay.
@TonyAirlines From my understanding it was from 1960-1963. By '64 Chevy had upgraded the suspension to help prevent the wheels from tucking under on cornering. But to be honest, Nadar was just trying to be heard, there was no real problem with the car if you just drove it reasonably. Studies after the fact revealed that the argument Nadar was making in his book was actually false in its application to the corvair. You shouldn't base your purchase of a 'vair around what Nadar argued. The car was
@TonyAirlines generally a safe car. As long as you don't take corners at 60 mph, you will be fine! The corvair is great piece of american craftsmanship and any year really is worthy of owning. Personally, i think the '64 is the best looking and most refined of the 1st generation vair. Just keep in mind that the car's weight all lies in the back. On turns you can feel the weight back there, as you would on any rear engine car. Just make sure to keep the rear tires at 26 psi and the fronts at 15
Cool Video! I had one just like it that I bought for $200 in 1983. It was not as nice as yours but it ran great and was fun to drive. When the engine finally started to go my friends started to call it "blue thunder" (always had blue cloud behind it lol. Cars got a bad rap, I wish I still had it!
I need help here. I know you can help me. I just bought a 62 Corvair. Runs good but every time I stop by the stop sign or red lights the car die right away. But when the car start it start right up but when you put your foot on brake then you hand switch to D drive then kill right away. It very appreciated if you can help me here. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video! I owned a 1963 Corvair Monza 4-door, 3 speed. I really loved that car! It was so much fun to drive. My best friend bought a 1965 2-door, turbo-charged and we went through all kinds of snow with that thing. Only problem was the occasional forced lane shift on the Tappan Zee bridge on a windy day.
My grandfather was the previous owner of your car. I think it is great that you love the car so much. When I found out that a 16 year old bought it, I was thrilled and I think my grandfather would have appreciated that it went to someone who actually cares a lot about the car. He wanted a car for each birth year of his five kids and the 1964 red corvair was for my Aunt Kim's birth year. Take care and enjoy!
I'm thinking of buying a restored '64 Corvair with no damage, perfect int/ext, and 65,000 miles for $7000. Is it a bad deal?

@RememberOne13 What about that problem that was mentioned in Unsafe at Any Speed? Which models or years would that problem exist for?

What a beauty! If you had run a vintage filter on this video, it would have looked like it was filmed with an old Super 8. Thanks for posting.

Nice car! Is that a 95hp or 110hp, or something else? Also, am I correct to assume that it's a 4-speed?
