The United States is just too culturally different for something like the Inbetweeners, or Skins. It doesn't stop MTV or anyone else from trying, but the reason why a lot of us like it is because it's DIFFERENT and it's more honest. They do what teenagers actually do. We have some pretty good sitcoms in the US. Big Bang Theory, Community, How I Met Your Mother, etc. But once in a while we want something a different, and that's what I love about these guys.
