  • The American Gary Moore. That's how you play blues! 2 of my heroes gone. No-one (apart from SRV and 60's Clapton) played with such fire and intensity. Such a shame. What a legacy though.

  • Freakishly good

  • Probably the first main media exposure to Jeff, a forced to be reckoned with in the circle of Guitar Gods.

  • Music...in your veins...Is a God gift....

  • 1 person sucks our cocks

  • 1 person didnt see the light

  • amazing player for the way he plays the guitar on his lap.. and hes blind jesus.

  • I hadn't watched this in a while and was hammered yet again by it's brilliance. The band assembled behind Jeff are each, as individuals powerhouses and they gel together as well as Booker.T And The M,Gs Jeff is,well fuck, this performance is mindboggling, nuff said.

  • respect, in awe, salute...

  • After watching this, I looked over at my guitar, and it told me "DON'T YOU EVEN..." lol simply put, the man can freaking play. Very few guitarists can match the sort of playing that Jeff Healey was on. He played with so much passion and emotion, you could literally feel it. Gives me goosebumps every time. RIP Jeff. You are sorely missed.

  • @buriedinsmoke3 Hahaha! Well said!

  • On my god - what a legendary MONSTER player! Respect! Goosebumps!

  • The pure joy of playing! chills, goose bumps, chicken skin is what i get from this :)

  • There are a few of these same videos floating around and everyone seems to want to know the same thing. "Who is on drums"? WHO GIVES A SHIT!!!! Omar,,,,,,Steve,,,,,Big Bird,,,,,,Wiley Coyote,,,,,Martin Luther King!!

Jeff Healey is the STAR in this video.

  • with practice, he'll become as good as me :-)

  • He's in heaven right now watching this video saying, "holy shit, I ROCK !!"

  • Maybe, but that's Omar. If his face, sound and drumming style are not enough, Steve Jordan is a Yamaha drums endorser since the 80's. And Omar has been a Pearl endorser for decades. You can see a Pearl kit there. Just trying to help.

  • @payuki I'm not an expert on either drummer, so I'll take your word for it.

In fact, there's another video on youtube of this exact same footage, where the title of the video states that it's Jordan, so the uploader of that video (SzalonyJogurt) obviously got that wrong.

  • We know who the bassist and pianist are (Marcus Miller and Dr. John), but who's the drummer?

Some poeple think it's Steve Jordan, some people think it's Omar Hakim.

  • @athull08 Omar Hakim

  • @payuki there's probably going to be loads of replies saying both.

  • GENIOUS!!!

  • is that dr john on piano?

  • @MarshallDawn yes

  • 3:46 lol, how does he keep hold of it??!!

  • I've often wondered why he plays that way.

There's no reason why a blind person can't play guitar the usual way.

Maybe it's more to do with the age at which he started playing.

He was only 3, so maybe the guitar he had was too big for him to play the usual way.

  • @athull08 One thing i have heard is that he started playing piano first so that's what he was used to

  • @nick14orange that sounds quite plausible.

  • at the start of the video... does it say Jeff Heavy or am I reading that wrong?

  • I was a fan of Healey before this show so I stayed up to watch it....Magical!!! The best part was when Marcus and Omar REALLY starting laying it down and got into the thrill of the music.....Now THATS what music is about!

  • HE IS KILLER MACHINE!!!SO MANY NOWDAY METAL BANDS CANT PLAY LIKE THAT WITH SO FEELING AND HEART AND KILLIN G STYLE,GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!AWESOME!!!

  • Healy, Hendrix, Rhoads, Moore....rocking together now!

  • Jeff Healey tried to liked this video and miss the button

  • dad?

  • I'm always impressed that he never drops the guitar when he plays it standing.

  • Omar Hakim on drums and is awesome as well. This version just smokes.

  • Jeff is flanked by Marcus Miller on bass and Dr. John on piano -- two greats, uh? Anybody know who the drummer is?

  • Fucking respect

  • Jeff Heavy?

  • W T F = AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unbelievable is the word i use to describe that. But even that word is not fit to describe this. Jeff we miss ya man, good ol Canadian boy.

  • What a man! Amazing skills to play like that. Always seem to lose the greats. R.I.P. Jeff.

  • oh my God!!! I can't play stuff like this even If I'm not blind...

  • RIP JH.

blind or cancer, no matter what mate ...you were still a true bluesrocker JH

anyone with a different opinion..you're either deaf, dumb, stupid..or...just dead

  • diantre!

  • 1 dislike? ohh must be someone whos jelious of jeff :)

  • the show was called "Night Music" and was hosted by David Sanborn. It ran in the late 1980's and only lasted 1 season. Probably something to do with it being a show run by musicians for musicians. i saw Jeff in Omaha in the early 90's and he rocked!! THANKS FOR POSTING!!

  • I like the rabbi on piano.

  • @JoshRosenblumMusic LOL, Dr. John

  • Im stunned at the sheer accuracy of his notes...especially when he slides into and out of them...

  • didnt they (dunno who) or Frank Zappa refer to his hands as being like a "spider"?. Well.....I think Mr Healey's hands are much more spider-like........man..this absolutely blows me away every time I watch it!!

  • I love Jeff.....RIP

  • Play Jeff, play it again in heaven. R.I.P.

  • Who's show was this and when? I saw another clip shows David Sanborn introduce him, it looks like, though that's my educated guess as a music fan. This is the better quality of the two however, not as long

  • Estupendo Jeff Healey y su banda... RIP

  • marcus miller on bass!

  • Sorry Jeff, but the bass player is just as fun to watch in this video.

Also, there's always one asshole who gives something a thumbs down...

  • theres nothing that could hamper music....

  • Pure joy.

  • when I first saw this video I was very impressed by this guy, the blind and those with a guitar doing something, something extraordinary. pity that the deceased was not one to beat, no?

  • i'm not sure, but i think i'd give an eye to play with half his strength. immense.

  • 4:14 marcus is like,wtf?lol

  • @rockerdude29 more like "daaaaaaaamn" :P

  • Sadly missed by all your fans God bless you Jeff you will always be in our hearts forever the world was a better place when you were hear

  • one of the baddest riffs ever. when i hear music like this, it fills me full of hope

  • R.I.P.

  • that is some bass line he is laying down

  • The first time I saw Jeff Healy was on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson which I have on VHS somewhere. When he stood up at the end of this song he knocked over his chair. Johnny stood up concerned for his guest but Jeff took it all in stride and finished the song. I went to the music store the next day and got the CD. I just wish someone would post a live version of Blue Jean Blues. Thank You So Much For The Post.

  • LOL. at 4:38 Marcus has to look over and see what the F is going on. This boy is messed up for sure.WOW that guitar is straight in the amp with no effects just PURE talent.best video I ever saw

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • Jeff Healey, Marcus Miller, Steve Jordan and Dr John

  • Yes

  • "pretty good for a blind white boy"

  • "yeah, and i thought you'd be bigger" for those of you who dont know that's a quote from Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze and Jeff Healey so you can quit the thumbs down

  • better than all guitarists

  • RIP Jeff

  • On March 2, 2008, Healey died of cancer at St. Joseph's Health Centre in his home town of Toronto. He was 41. : (

  • at 4:37 when he start shredding i screamed "WHAT THE FUCK!" due to the fact that he is blind and he's doing that... its incredible R.I.P.

  • Dios mio , es una animal dios!!!!

  • Not to sound like a total dick, but I just wanna know what that means! Cause by the look of the rating you got for it, it seems everyone agrees with you!

  • Don't forget about Dr. John

  • electrifying

  • not bad for a blind kid! lol. rock on jeff healey!!

  • yeah, and i thought you'd be bigger. lol thats just good stuff

  • the thing that distinguishes him from other good guitarists is that he has his own style of music and guitar playing,

  • and the fact that he was blind? haha, nah im kidding i get ya, his phrasing is BLISTERING, when he starts tearing up that solo it makes me want start breaking things with excitement

  • His own blues playing is so powerful and confident that regardless of the blindness he's still a great player.

  • This video made me tear up. It's just touching to see someone be in their element doing what they absolutely love. Jeff was simply amazing.

  • PERFECTLY stated......you hit the nail on the frickin' head. Such a pure thing, watching the joy He gets from playing.

  • Perhaps the best live performance by Jeff ever...Miss you man.
