Im glad your all collection the discus and everything, but did you ever stop and think how you could go to the pet store and get captive bred ones. I realize how much better wild caught are, but that's their habitat.
@TheBettaApprentice actually the tropical fish hobby and the demand for wild caught tropical fish for aquariums may be a very good thing for the environment where these fish live. If people are harvesting these animals they are maybe less likely to destroy the habitat and turn the area into farmland or housing developments.
It is not wrong to keep them in captivity, my reason is because even in the wild, their environment can be easily affected like hunting for food source, the fluctuation of water parameters ph due to rain, acid rain, weather blabla. Even natural disaster such as tsunami will naturally wipe a whole batch of these rare breed out. So if human have the capability and care for these discus to ensure that they feed them well, so why not?
People who keep wild discus develop an overwhelming tenderness for the Amazon basin and its tributaries. Discus fish in the aquarium hobby is not a problem for the ecology: there are plenty of problems in nature. Hopefully the conditions in Amazonia and the discus habitat will generate some good decisions going forward by collectors and breeders and those concerned with the fate of the wild discus.
good video, nice looking Discus. Not too sure with some of the comments you have attracted!! A hello from the other side of the pond, the rock of Gibraltar.
