  • what a wonderful voice. My only concern is, I don't speak german and can give lieder a hell of a lot more character. This guy can speak german and just looks angelic...

  • i have to say he looks like justin biber

  • hehehe i love that a translator is translating a different language, in a different language :) i love love this!! :) cant stop listening to them sing

  • There are several "Stanchen" bu Schubert. This one is an absolute wonder.

  • Lovely singer but this is not Schubert's Ständschen, at least not the one I know.

  • love the camera movement from 1:39 - 1:44. Goes well with the music

  • I love aryan boys chirping. It would be better if they were singing das showa! Heil Schubert

  • what church is this? In Vienna?

  • what church is this? In Vienna?

  • it'd be better in italian :p

  • Ich liebe die beide Ständchen von Franz Schubert (My German is not perfect)

Terry Wey does an excellent job here.Of the two I prefer the other (Leise flehen meine Lieder) it is quite exceptionally sexual in my opinion and not really suitable for a boy treble. I liked is so much I produced my own translation although I am not a German scholar. If you wish it I will send it to you.

    Aled

  • What Opus Number is this?

  • OBOŽAVAM DA SLUŠAM FRANCA ŠUBERTA. HOR BEČKIH DEČAKA JE IZUZETAN. TERI JE SAVRŠEN. SVAKA ČAST.

  • Bravo! Wunderbar! J'adore Schubert!

  • Hearest thou the nightingales Oh! How they call to thee With honey’d sounds so sweetly asking

. Imploring come thee to me They can feel the heartstrings pulling And know the pain of love

Moving with their silvery singing Each tender heart they move May also then thy breast be moved (2 syllables) Sweetheart hear'st thou me And trembling so I do await thee Come, thou'rt mine to be

  • Intéressant ! Et vraiment Terry est un excellent chanteur !

  • Is there a full version of this performance anywhere?

  • Angels of God :)

  • where can i find the lyrics to this? in german

  • StringQuartetFan....

this is "Standchen D 920 also listed in a different key as Standchen D921"

Be aware that their is another Schubert work also under the title of Standchen which I believe is D 957.

  • Angels on earth.

  • I absoloutely adore this version and listen to it every day, often many times a day. When the soloist repeats "Leise... Leise..." in such a sweet, poignant and endearing tone, it does something to my soul that I myself can't explain.

  • It's not necessary to explain. Very happy to see that you're receptive to the effects of good music!

  • Right on! I should add that the vd I like is not this one but another one where the music starts right away with the boys are in the music hall. I also ***adore*** Juliane Bansen's version with male choir. Greetings from a fellow music lover!

  • Since I wrote I have heard a professional mezzo with outstanding male choir version and a student attempt, not even music students, all girl version 'Standchen by la156' and to me this, with all its faults, sounds the best. The freshness of the girl's voices shines through and they have that vocal edge that choir boy's and male singers cannot obtain on the high notes. I think Schubert's friends were right to make him reconsider. It sounds better with women's voices.

    Thank you. Fascinating!

  • lol, that boy sneezed at the end of the show. Luckily it didn't make noise.

  • beautiful choir.. a guy sneezed on 1:56

  • this song just wasn't written for you boys' voices.

the content of the song is not quite appropriate either for kids of that age

  • really? what is the song about?

  • Wie unkeusch hehehe - Der Liedtext hats in sich.

  • UN BEL VIDEO, SALUTI DA NAPOLI!

  • These boys sound like angels! and their faces are also angel alike! :) 5 stars!

  • My goodness, his voice is so amazing !!

  • haha!! got it!! i found a full version of this--not as great quality, but if anyone is interested, it is in my videos.

this is the best performance of this piece i have found!! young terry was just amazing!

  • can you tell me where you got this video? i would love to have the full video of this performance of Standchen....anyone have it?? know where I can get this video??

    thank you!!!

  • I like this song, I like Terry Wey, but this is NOT the Standchen (Serenade) that I know by F.Schubert. Would you post a video of Serenade and provide the lyrics please, I think you have more sources that I do. I like playing it on the organ and singing it. THANKS!!!

  • This is the Serenade "Zögernd leise", the one you're looking for is: "Leise flehen meine Lieder"

  • Very good...

watch the guy sneeze and 1:56 .. haha

  • LOL i know...i saw that too! xD btw, nice voice huh.

  • nice music...

  • I can't find the words to this song!!Help!!

  • Sorry but I don´t understand you. what do you mean?

  • i know terry wey

and his brother laurin is also a amaicing singer ;)

  • Extraordinario! este chico es extraoridinario cómo canta, con qué sentimiento, qué voz! Maravilloso!

  • he has a surprisingly good voice

  • So the text is really a bit "mature" for preadolescent boys to sing. In Grillparzer's telling of the story, this particular girl does not come out, so the suitor consoles himself by saying that after all, sleep is more valuable than desires and gifts. Note that he brings a whole slew of other "men" with him as moral support. What a concept!

  • That song is part of almost all concerts !

  • I wonder why they recorded it at a half-step lower pitch than written? Anyway, Terry was terrific as soprano, and is terrific with his new group Cinquecento that performs and records Early Music (music written before Bach).

  • I think it was originally written for an alto and 16 women's voices then it is magical. It is not really choir boy material but better than male voices!

  • Ständchen was originally written for men's voices, but Schubert's friends suggested that a version for female voices would be good, too. After he heard it sung in treble range, he agreed that it sounded better in the higher range. You are correct that it was not written with boys' voices in mind. The words reflect an old custom of a male suitor going to his beloved's house and singing to her from below in the hopes that she would come out on a balcony and drop a handkerchief as sign of her love.

  • C'est simplement superbe !

  • Please, how could I get this video complete? Thank you

  • Blah, I couldn't handle how the audio kept going more and more out of sync as the song went on, so I fixed it and re-uploaded it (it's on my profile).

  • Sneezing in tune!

  • These boys are amazing! The sneeze is a great moment.

  • great! did you see the guy in the background at 1:55. you've got to see that. :D
