@DerrickMayFan You can tweak out quite evil sub bass sounds, this demo is really old so it doesn't show full potential of this machine but this is the best value you can get in the world of tb-303 clones.
I think the bass stations pretty cool!!true, its not got the punch of a orig TB303, but i dont think people should look at it that way, as each different bass synth has it's own unique style. For the price, they can kick butt!!
Well, of course there ist better stuff out there, but it sounds ok for the price. I mostly led it run through a MAM Resonator and get a nice phat sound out of it.
Hi mate. I would go for it. A-Station is a rack version of K-Station, and you get bass station as a nice bonus, with MIDI-CV interface plus it is actually a real analogue synth. K-station is a bit easier to programm than a-station, but still - ots a good deal.
Is one of these suitable for a beginer? I am considering getting one as I want to start to make my own music. Also, how much does a midi controller cost? Thanks! :D
You can find the display a bit cryptic in moments but generally the manual is very clear and you should be able to quickly grab the idea of this synth. Midi controllers vary from £40 to hundreds depends how complex you want. Good luck!
The FB383 is a great machine, you can't slide the filter like the real 303, but apart from that it's the best sounding clone I've heard (apart from the xoxbox which is apparently identical to the real thing). Personally I reckon that the sound has enough character to make it a good instrument in it's own right, rather than an imitation. Plus there are a few easy mods which expand the sound a little..... Make sure you use 12v AC power supply though 'cus they die if you use DC.
No, I've been lucky with mine, no problems at all, but I've read on other forums that they can die easilly. Check out my vids to hear what a modded fb-383 sounds like......:-}}
Very nice mate, I tried a similar thing with my 'sequencer glitched' circuit bent 505. It Lets you alter the sequence in real time by pressing a few buttons on the 505. I wish the 505's midi notes had a bit more decay though, as I have a 'freebass' 303 clone which would sound really good played with a 505 - problem is that the 505 midi note is just a very short trigger and just makes a short pop....
Cool mate! I heard that you can circuit bend 505 far beyond its capacity. And how do you find FB-383? I was thinking about getting it for 303 sounds...
freebass dont do midi so all the mangling would have to be done realtime but any sequencing software will let you do loads of takes I tend to do that and its ablast
fair enough anywow have u used rebirth if you have wots better rebirth or bass station i prefer machines meself but its christmas and the kidz are skintin me
I also prefer the feel of hardware synth. Rebirth is still very good tho, and you can map it quite extensively with any MIDI controller (for example I tweak it with Korg Nanokontrol;)
I got a emu xboard and rebirth is great through it and I been keepin track of baasssstations on e bay a keyboard version fetched 200 quid looks like people have caught on to analog cheapness damn their teeth still you never know
I know, but it was my very first recording, and I was in rush, and I screwed some settings with my camera - so there you go. Working on improvements in future ;-)
I've just purchased an "A Station" off ebay, have just played around with it for a day or so, just the presets so far....though straight away I'm liking the lots of dials the arpegiator and I think it outputs arpegiator midi data as well..?, and the filters...are bloody beautifull..!!, what else is there in this series is there, for instance i noticed a vid on here for drum staiton and bass station, looking to expand my rack space....hardware strikes back..!!
hey what up im thinkin about buying one of these on ebay but idk if itll work with my keyboard... i hav an m audio keystation 88es and i want to hook it up via midi.... if u could let me know that would be sick!!!!
Aye mate, you can hook it up with your keystation via MIDI and it will be running sweet! I had it hooked up with 49 key version at some point and it was working really well. Have fun!
Hiya Jonny - yep the Super Bass Station is analog too. The only real difference between the two is that the SBS has an extra (sub-bass) oscillator which gives it more bottom-end
I actually like the sound of the Bass Station more than the 303.

Do you think you could get those nice sub bass sounds from bass station?

It's not a bad synth but the knobs caps really suck. They are too short, you need to pull them out a bit or replace them.

nice machine, i got the tr505 to and it's a good low priced sequenser and drumcomputer xd, but i have the MAM mb33 tb303 clone sounds good to.

I might trade my k-station for a bass-station and an a-station is that smart?

I got same one,cheap&nice sounds.
it can MIDI-control for an old CV/Gate analog synth,
so I use for it my lovely roland SH101,korg MS20.
it's better way than kenton CV/Gate-converter.
