  • Great vid, great music!!

  • the whiter the better

  • LOL! omg! as if people are obsessed with skin tone! :S its a fucking PIGMENT! for god sakes Jeez!!

  • @afrolatinadamien Couldn't have said it better myself!!

  • you divide yourselves with colorism

white racists unite you all as "niggers"

  • No one should be discriminated against because of your brown skin , dark skin , light skin or fair skin.

its hurtful ,and can change people forever .

I want to bring this awareness about this in my country Haiti because it happens all the time but no one talks about it.

If you want to make a change be that change.

  • You did a good job on this video, everything discussed is true. But I feel being a CHOCOLATE dude is a tad bit different than being a chocolate sister. As a man for the dating pool we have more of a choice, versus a women. But for me I had girls dark as my self and also light as the sun. My current gf is light but all black women are extremely beautiful. Yall have ranges dark, brown and light all flavors dat what makes yall the most desired women on this plant. I love SISTAHS...BLK GIRLS ROCK

  • The colorism issues are from the BLACK COMMUNITY ONLY not necessarily from being around whites; they treat blacks who look black equally---on the other hand, dark skinned women are getting dates and marrying white men--and many of them are able to stay home and nurture their children as well----ohhh, back in slavery days, the house negros were the relatives of the whites, nieces, nephews, cousins, or even children---to make the white wife mad and thats why they were in the house.

  • @49jubilee

You are a very disturbed woman! Hope you get the help you need.

  • this is 2010 and this is still occurring? please black people, move forward and don't concentrate on such foolishness. had a light skin friend and he was in a wedding with all dark groomsmen. he pride himself because of it, yet he was later eliminated from the fraternal group losing all of his connections which he needed to enter a prestigious business school. that is just one story. dark skin people should look at their color as beautiful.

  • There's an interesting study by Professor J. Philippe Rushton on the correlation between the genetic inheritance of the Caucasian, Negroid and Mongoloid and characteristics which include IQ levels, sexuality, inclination to criminal behaviour and a host of other social behaviours. Here's a snippet:

"Genetic methods (like those used in paternity tests) show that Mixed-Race Blacks have about 25% White ancestry. Their IQs fall half way between pure Blacks (70) and pure Whites (100)." (22)

  • It seems that blacks are still in bondage over their skin. How sad!

  • @Jstar141957 Not all black folks. Just a handfull as usual, jut like their is a hand full or racist folks. Most folks I dont think care about this color stuff like this, because we wouldnt marry each other or date each other of all complexions, but you do have the few that only want lighter.

  • I'm so sick of the igonrance with hair..light skin women don't all have straight hair infact a lof of darker women have the so called "good hair" many light skin black women get perms and flat iron their hair only a fool would think it's naturally straight just because of skin color..you don't kow that girls mother and father or family heritage to make assuptions

  • hi maame

i love Y vrey mach by the fiec is nice

  • It's amazing to see all the comments about a school project I did two years ago. I'm saddened to see so many negative comments. The book Coming of Age in Mississippi inspired me to create this video. I suggest we all read and educate ourselves so that we can end the negative perceptions starting with our children, family, and friends. I wanted to create a discussion among the black community. My next video will be on mental health in the black community and Durham-The Black Wallstreet. Peace

  • @lildzona04 true words spoken, love that. keep on it !!

  • I really want 2 make a YT video about this but buy most of my family & friends being biracial or really light skin & most of them have dark skin children now they dislike for anyone 2 talk about this issue. No one has ever talked about this in my family everyone acts like colorism does not exist in my family. I started 2 realized about black people complex issues when i became an adult. I think it is a big problem in our community & people should start address this issue often.

  • It is so hard to not feed into colorism when you see the new school biracial women having it easy.

  • new? lol biracials have been around since the days of antiquity typical simpleton American menatlity.. know nothing about the world, alessandro di medici mulatto, the gyptians were a mixed people, the spaniards and portuguese who had servants from subsaharan africa in europe made biracal chldren who were later absorbed by the population, queen charlotte, in the new world the panish were the 1st to brig blacks over and mulattos were already here b4 the damn english came around ok?

  • @guapgueezee :Also the Ethiopans, Eritea and parts of Sudan and some other African countries were conquered by the arabs who settled there and guess what? Mixed because because that's what people do. Look at South Africa which has 10% of their population mixed with English. dutch and blacks for hundreds of years. Aparthaid couldn't even stop it!

  • I agree with you reuven!! there's a book called why black and white mix despite opposition.. its interesting..

  • colorism...what a tragedy

  • Check out my video on colorism too. Listen to what the guy says. comment please.

  • In South Africa, the whole light skin vs dark skin girl thing is so not as extreme as it is in the states. Wow, what is really up with my black sisters not loving chocolate skin? People (especially in Europe)looooooove that dark mahogany skin we have. We are unique because we have so many different shades.

I'm so tired of hearing this whole drama. It's so out!

  • @Tweetyslim1 Well Im in Jersey and i dont think its that extreme here in the states the only thing that i notice is that sometimes lightskinned girls get more attention from guys and the same for lightskinned guys. but its not really a problem as ppl think, but other than that lightskinned and dark pplare still looked at as black nothing more.

  • Yeah true. This whole topic is so annoying. Imagine what its doing to younger children. First comes the "good hair" topic, now this?

    Come on

  • @Tweetyslim1 check out my video on colorism.

  • thats true and it makes you wonder how many people o whites who are racist but infact is african by blood..people need to stop this hate of light and dark in all cultures..wado

  • @chulah12 : I saw some research in where they estimate that 45% of "white Americans" have native American blood and about 20% have Afro-American blood and don't even know it. Then 70% of Afro-Americans have some white blood, best way to now is to take a DNA test.

  • some asshole thumbs downed you but what you say is semi true.. many mixed women were sold into concubinage. But many still had it better if they could pass for white in louisiana there was a whole society gens du coleour with wealthy biracials.. then again latin colonizers didnt practice chattel slavery they treated their blacks like people hence the lack of a serious color line..and many were given privileges not afforded to black women.. placage and things lke that were common

  • good video

  • It is a pathetic LIE that my life is easier and that I can assimilate into white culture because I have light brown skin! Nothing could be further from the truth. When I receive a promotion at work, it is because I am intelligent and have a fantastic work ethic. My skin color does NOT get my work done! This issue is agonizing for me. Whites (who are racist) don't care WHAT color skin we have. They HATE all of us! We NEED to STOP looking at ourselves through the lens of white racist acceptance!!!

  • it depends but i gave u thumbs up anyway.. i know and admitedly have taken advantage of this mentality for my peronal gain.. i have lso seen it hurt people as well.. many gorgeous dark women are passed up for a medoiocre black asian crazy lookig broad at this shoot we did, literally looked like a wild bonobo chimp ..my daughter is 1/4 black and i know because she looks totally white she gets better treatment period.. at times i point it out especially if i see unfair treatment to a dark child

  • @Lisa3679 there are studies that prove lighter skin blacks have certain advantages over darker skin blacks, colorism is a real issue in the black community and in America in general.

  • I am a light complexioned mixed-race Black woman. I have experienced colorism all of my life!

This intraracial hatred began historically and was reinforced by slave owner Willie Lynch. Black people need to understand that light skin - dark skin prejudice was an orchestrated plan of racism that reinforces the animosity between us. We should realize that colorism is an UNNECESSARY problem that we have the ability to stop perpetuating!

  • tell that to the slave owner

  • @Lisa3679

The Willie Lynch Letter is a PROVEN HOAX!!!

Just Google the words 'Willie Lynch" and "Hoax"

and you will see where numerous historians

(many of which are Black) have PROVEN that

it is a complete and utter HOAX created in

the 20th century era (with thus HOAX 1st

spreading in the 1960's and then moving

even faster via email and the internet).

  • does anyone know the name of the songs?

  • have you ever heard the comment, " she's cute for a dark girl,"

  • Divide and conquer. White folks got Blacks confused to no end. Black people seem to look for excuses to treat each other poorly. Complexion, hair, cars, which zip code you live in, whose more thuggish, etc. Since when did being a thug equate to being Black? This only benefits Whites and Latins. Black folks need to wake up, Mexicans and other Latinos are now being used to "diversify" the work place, Blacks are no longer needed. Niggas was never wanted. Again, divide and conquer. Wake up, damn.

  • @guapgueezee :I believe Latinos become more united once coming to the U.S. and mostly put their differences aside to become one major group and that is what makes them powerful as a group who are prospering in every field across the U.S.

  • think your comment should be directed at the 2black2day guy who is complaining about Latin gains.. I said is that many Latinos are also black or mulatto which inthe usa means black for some retarded reason.. but no latinos are NOT united in NYC Puerto Ricans and Dominicans hate eachother..Mexicans are in turn not liked by Caribbean Latinos.growing in numbers is not growing where it matters- education, imprisonment rates, the only people with a vested interest in black latin divide is WHITE ppl

  • @2black2day "Blacks" in America and many European countries have become agents of there own oppression.

  • Great song choices and fantastic topic. I would like to have seen more visual examples and maybe some video clips with the commentary underneath those visuals. One part was black (the screen). That threw me off, but overall good effort and good message.

  • My relatives in Jamaica use to say, don't marry and have kids with some one who's darker than you. This message is rampant in Jamaica. It's now spilled over to the UK, who have desendants here in the UK. The black community in the UK have the same issues, with the light skinned/dark skinned debate.

  • ASU!

  • This was a great video!

  • This is a very good video. Some valid points were made.

  • It is what it is.

  • damn that guy with the fitted was sexy as hell . . .

  • I love Jill Scott. She always knows how to express what I think and feel and make it beautiful art.

  • Ok the part where the chick was talking about her skin tone is in the middle and she might would get to work in the house or the field if she got sold...ugghhh how ignorant was that statement? She could have just stated she's brownskin and left the slavery comment out of it. Not funny!

  • It was funny! If you think about it.

  • @shaybunny09 she was just using that as an example

  • VERY NICE;-D!

  • and whats the second song?

  • Common-"Black Maybe"

  • thank you 4 making this video

  • nice video

  • who is singing this song? it's lovely

  • The first song is by Jill Scott, "How It Make You Feel"

  • These songs gave me chills!

  • The first song is by Jill Scott, "How It Make You Feel"
