Not a good gun to take to the woods for gobblers bro ... I would use a bud's gun that's set up for turk's or you may just wound another one. They are tough birds and your gun needs to be set up right.
what shotsize do you recommend for 20 gauge? , i just shot a jake 2 hours ago with a fiocchi high velocity 1 oz #4 shot .. had no affect feathers everywhere and it ran
I always use 3" or 3.5" #6's ... for a brand, I use Winchester High Velocity Supreme's. They have incredible power and amazing patterns ... I would also recomend a Carlson's turkey choke.
I had the same deal last spring when I took my bird. They were in a field and not coming any closer. I got a little lucky and that always help when hunting Turkey!
hey i noticed that you have some wires that you were hilding while you were carrying the tripod, what was that and the earpiece you had on for? thanks, Tyler
Great video fellas...I only have one suggestion, lots of kids may watch these videos and all to often I see the shooter jump up and take off running after the shot with gun in tote. This isn't something we need to be teaching our children to do, I know it's exciting but gun safety is the issue here. Also You should wait for the bird to stop flapping before actual footage is posted. But otherwise very exciting hunt thanks for posting.
VERY good point ... the gun in this video is actually a single shot so it was unloaded ... if you watch some of our other videos, either we walk, walk quickly, or make some reference to checking the gun sometime thereafter. And in one video, the guy runs but leaves the gun behind.
We do try to do things right ... and thanks for the comment ... as well as looking out for our future generations of hunters. Good luck this spring.
Looks like an TC Encore but he actually does get up and run with the gun. I teach hunter safety and your always in a better situation if you will actually wait a full minute before even getting up. 1:you get your bearings back in order 2:If your hunting someone elses property you should be respectful of that situation and not eduacate the other birds that may have been in the area that the boom they just heard was a direct result from humans. Keep posting as I enjoy watching your videos.
Excellent points ... I have also seen well hit birds get up and run before ... and if your not in a position for a follow up shot, the bird could be lost.
We try to do things the best we can ... both your way and our way could be good or bad ... the only important thing to do is to BE SAFE at whatever it is you decide.
Got a 10" beard, 1 1/4" spurs gobbler this morning! Yeah I love turkey hunting more than any other hunting, period. All I use is my $15 Wal-mart special Strut Double-Glass, a Rem. 870, and some cheap Liberty overalls, and I'll have the time of my life. No frills, just lots of thrills (and kills)!
SWEET ... Great bird dude ... I can't hit the woods for a couple more weeks ... but I dig hearin' about all you guys out there doin' it for me.
I checked out your site ... and if your in our armed fources and you were over the fighten for us ... "My hats off to you bro ... your the man ... thanks for everything you've done. God Bless you and all your brothers out there still fightin' so we can do this."
Thanks for the kind words. Last season I was turkey hunting on crutches due to an injury from Iraq. I painted my cast/crutches brown and covered them with leaves, big Tom didn't know the difference.... he was smaller (8.5" beard) but I didn't care, sometimes you take what you can get right?
Dude you freakin' rock ... and as for the trophy ... it's all in the eye of the beholder ... and anyone that says differently isn't a true sportsman. I'd be honored if you subscribed to my channel ... maybe you'll enjoy some of the other turkey hunts I've posted ... Thanks again for all you and your comrades have done.
There is always Avid and Adobe ... but ... check into a program called SpeedEdit ... it's incredible for $500 ... it's what FOX used a couple years ago to edit the NASCAR comercial. It's a sweet program and very easy.
Boom! Another great Video from Wettish and the boys...Pa Spring season starts April 26th and I cant wait any longer to apply the knowledge Ive learned from watching and listening to you! Thanks again!
Any time bro ... glad they help ... you gotta make sure you keep us in the loop this spring ... let us know how you do. We all wish you the best of luck this season.
He was about 20 lbs., it was a great hunt, it's difficult to tell, but the bird was infront of us for about 10 minutes. If it wasn't for the master calling of Matt Wettish, that bird would have boggied long before we could have made the shot. Good luck this season, hopefully it will be a little dryer. :-) Safe hunting -
I have used Avid, Adobe and NewTek ... but ... I am currently writing an article on "Outdoor Video Made Easy" and I'm trying out things that the "Average Joe" would buy. It's a very inexpensive program by CyberLink called Power Director ... SUPER EASY ... it's not an Adobe ... but it's also under $100 ... a solid "Average Joe" price point.
Oh ok, that's great. I use Vegas. I like it because it lets you do a bit and is not as hard to figure out as Adobe is but, there are some things i wish i could do that i can't. Like right now the biggest thing is the split screen. It's really limited on there and i don't like the way it looks. I think I'm going to maybe check out the Power Director.
Thanks buddy ... We're runnin' a Canon GL2. Takes incredible video ... I just wish YouTube wouldn't reduce what we upload so you could see the quality.
dam :[ , thanx for helpin out tho

1) Are you using a turkey choke, and did you pattern the gun?
2) How far was the bird?
3) Did you aim just for the head?
A 20 ga, will kill a turkey every day of the week ... if you know and respect the limitations of the load.

and where did you get the backround music?
RUTandSTRUT 3 years ago
Some music comes with the editing equipment and some you have to purchase.

Try to wear earphones at the beginning of the day to make sure audio is right ... then I also have an audio cable for the mic.
