  • Newton N Minnow was right!

This is Television at its best. Such dichotomy in todays television. It's very sad actually that what is presented to us today in the form of repugnant reality shows are not rejected but seem rather demanded.

  • eventually. art carney and jack klugman would have something else in common...

they would both play Oscar Madison on Broadway.

  • incredible. Jack Klugman

  • Reason 1,000,001 why ROD SERLING is a giant among writers.

  • Sorry, I didn't watch the clips in order. Thanks for posting these clips.

  • Isn't that Leslie Nielsen in this clip ?!?

  • Absolutely brilliant! Thank you soooo much byrd59! I've been looking for videos/dvd's of Velvet Alley, Requiem For A Heavyweight, Patterns, The Comedienne...etc., for years! Just the few clips here are greatly appreciated! Oh, and isn't that Mr. Tate!? :)

  • Yes, that is David White a few years before he became Larry Tate on Bewitched. :)

The original kinescopes of Requiem, Patterns and The Comedian are available on VHS, but to date haven't been put on DVD.

  • Wow, he said a mouth full to Max, profound and useful even today. Great talent.

  • Yep. Excellent stuff.

  • Definitely. I realize that some of his earlier stuff has been lost, but some of the kinescopes certainly survive, and even some of the 2-inch master videotapes.

  • Freak yeah, great post. He mentions this in the Wallace interview, but I'd never seen any of it, didn't know it was available. They ought to put out a box set (or several sets) of the pre- & post-Zone TV stuff Serling wrote.

  • thanks. best tv.

  • Glad you liked it. As I said, just a masterful job by Jack Klugman here. "Buddy, you don't know meaning of miserable until you've been sold out by the people you love." Classic.

  • Been a huge rod serling fan and am and am a struggling writer myself. This touches my heart and echoes all the fears and wants developing inside me. Thanks ROd Serling and thank you byrd59 for these clips. My favorite line came from Art Carney in the previous clip where he says, "I don't want to be forgotten". That says my biggest want and fear.
