Chows are great dogs but not for everyone. They can overheat in summer months, they need regular grooming and you need to get a pup from a reputable breeder as they are prone to hip, eye and other problems. They need early socialization, otherwise they can develop terrier like behavior of being "snappy". All dogs should be supervised around kids, chows are no exception. They are wonderful, loyal, excellent pets and don't require lots of exercise (do need walks tho). Great dogs!!!! :)

Alot of dogs do that. My chow used to do a "happy dance" when he knew a was gonna get a "nummy" lol. My chow also had a peculiar behavior in which he would sit on his back legs and look just like a bear lol.
