  • Showtime with the Gas House Gang... such a beautiful mesh... i remember watching this while in high school (when i was a member of J42) as my High School Drama club was preparing to put on "The Music Man"... they wouldn't let me get this set-up... not even after the show during the curtain call...

@stuttsburger all you would need is the original arrangement as sung by the buffalo bills and the sweet ads version of sweet and low... plenty of practice and BAM! there is this rendition.

  • So great to hear all the parts! Thanks for posting!

  • All i have to say is....WEEEEEEEE !

  • is jim henry seriously in every amazing quartet and chorus out there?

  • @ganekelioque

    I honestly could not say.

  • I was fortunate enough to see both of these groups perform at the Canton Barbershop Chapter Show. They sang this one at the afterglow. Still gives me chills!

  • Oh man... that was sweet! Great post!

  • Yes, I've been enjoying many of them here for the last couple of weeks. Thanks for getting in touch!

  • I was afraid that barbershop quartets had gone out of style but the Gas House Gang really knows how to deliver a song! WOW!

  • @AnneBowen1

Actually, there are many Barbershop Quartets posted here on YouTube.

    Thanks for the look.

  • Awesome

  • So this is where Storm Front got the idea from!!!

  • @marksoave2007 Seriously. I had never heard of this song BEFORE having heard Storm Front sing it. Of course, Storm Front being who they are, I KNEW something was amiss...Alas. Between them and Lunch Break, that's two classic songs that have been altered in my mind permanently.

  • Does anyone know how to get this arrangement? I'm in a quartet and i know of a Sweet Ads quartet that would to do it for our group show in Dec. Any leads on this would be great. Thanks.

  • Shouldn't be that hard to transcribe

  • @stuttsburger the arrangement I have is done by Nancy Bergman... I belive it's the same arrangement... I'm not the best at sight singing but following the music along with this clip it seemed right on the money :)

Hope this helps ... We're doing a double quartet this October with this piece... I just wish we could have found some SPEBSQUA guys to double with us!! As it stands now... four of us will dress as Dapper Dans :) It'll be fun and a great show ... Good luck to you Stuttsburger!!

  • where and what was the event they were singing for?

  • @stuttsburger

    It was a PBS special.

  • I'd started to not like this song after hearing it sung sub-par so many times. What a renewal!

  • @musicscotty1

I posted by "The Boston Common" also well worth a listen.

  • The most beautiful rendition of this song....EVER. I'm sorry Buffalo Bills but GHG just outdid you :P

  • Thanks for the comment, I have posted a version of the same song by the "Boston Common". Check it out.

  • Thanks! I love Boston Common!
