  • Would you recommend one of these pen fishing rods? If so which one? Have you ver broken one?

  • @ChefBoyJL if you like to fish with ultra light gear, then yes I recommend them. the pen rod goliath is slightly longer than the extreme and that extra length lets you casts a bit further. the mx15 all aluminum reel is by far the nicest reel. catching any fish on these pen rods is a lot of fun as the fish feel much bigger than they would on a traditional rod. if you're careful and have your drag set properly, you shouldn't have any issues and you shouldn't break the rods either.

  • Yeah you're videos are good, what head camera was you using to record whilst you fish?

  • @TheWatchman144K thanks, it's just a canon powershot sd1100 is. just a regular digital camera that i mounted to a plain old hat that i modified. all i did was find a bolt that has a thread that matches my camera, then i drilled a hole in an old hat and mounted the bolt with a nut. don't need to go out and spend a lot of money on an "authentic" hat cam if you have a digital camera that takes video and a hat you don't care about :)

  • 6 lb monofilament.. i say it in the video...

  • what pund test is that

  • @ObJeCTNatioN 6 lb mono

  • nice i just oredered by pen rod i seen ur video and there preetty good for bass ps very great video

  • @ObJeCTNatioN nice, have fun with them :)

  • Nice one:) worth watching to the end

  • @jonn8ball haha thanks, i probably wouldn't have even posted if i didn't catch that last fish :P

  • @jonn8ball haha thanks, i probably wouldn't have even posted if i didn't catch that last fish :P

  • can they be caught in there in september and november

  • @allamericangooner i don't know, i never really fished there into late fall, early winter. the water gets colder much faster here so they won't be here very long.

  • what month of the year was tthis

  • @allamericangooner august 2010

  • i was at log boom last week and i caught one about the size that you catch at the end but i was using a hotshot

  • @bcbcbcbcdc nice!

  • For some reason i just wanna punch that kid right in the face

  • Oh ok thanks :)

  • Sorry to bug you again but how do you retrieve the lizards because I got some today and I'm wondering if you just let them stay for a second and reel them in or just reel the lizard in fully without the periods of waiting?

  • @thatsnazzyguy try various retrieves and experiment for yourself. depending on the time of year, water temperature, and weather conditions, results will vary.

  • holy shit, were all those bass caught in real time? or did u skip to the best parts?

  • @HATINTHEKAT the video was edited, but i fished for an hour and a half.

  • @FishingThePNW dang still nice, were those zoom lizards? i got a pack of the small ones, but uhh how do you fish them? a friend gave it to me and im pretty clueless lol

  • @HATINTHEKAT nah, they were ring lizards from big bite baits. 4 inch finesse lizards. rig them texas or carolina style and vary your retrieves.

  • @FishingThePNW do u think the bite juice in them helps?

  • @HATINTHEKAT the scent isn't there to really attract the fish or trick them into biting, it's to mask your human scent..

  • @FishingThePNW oh cool, good luck, or well, keep it lol

  • @HATINTHEKAT caught a 4 lb 2 oz largemouth today, my personal best :D

  • @FishingThePNW damn, i went today but bad joojoo, swimmers all around spanaway lake, and the boaters being bad words and trolling within casting distance, us shore peple probably said ten rainbowfuls of "colorful" words today =[ but to no luck

  • Nice man I'm getting the extreme all aluminum rear drag m15xaa combo

  • @k232322 right on thats the best reel.

  • you should be letting those go, they are under size.

  • @theScoleriBrothers actually, they're not. you should actually learn the regulations before you try to criticize. i'm not gonna bother stating regulation. you can go ahead and research washington state regs yourself and realize you're wrong.. keep your ignorant comments to yourself.

  • @FishingThePNW well what are the regs, I always assumed they were 12 inches, enlighten me please.

  • @SDBassaholic No min. size. Only LARGEMOUTH BASS less than 12" may be retained, except 1 over 17" may be retained. Daily limit 5. Bass may be caught, retained, and released alive from a livewell until a daily

    limit is in possession

  • what brand lizards?

  • @MiCx023 big bite baits 4 inch lizard. any finesse lizards will work well for largemouths

  • I like ur videos with that little fishin pole. Those people seemed kinda annoying.

  • @psmay32003 thanks, and yes they can be :P

  • what bait were u using to catch them?

  • @brittdaniel1 read the info in the beginning of the video :)

  • try using a slingshot method to get under that bridge next time.

  • @TimIguess uhm.. no casting under the dock this way is deal, plus that's a horrible idea for these rods..

  • @FishingThePNW oh i just do it sometimes with my ultralite and a senko or something, and its just precise.

  • @TimIguess yeah, i like to singshot with my other ultra light but not with the pen rod, they're very fragile and not built like 1 or 2 piece ultra lights :P

  • @FishingThePNW oh i got ya. i keep spewing out comments but i would love to see you catch some bass on a strike king spit-n-king, or a zara spook jr! now that would be awesome.

  • @TimIguess i have a couple zara super spook jr's.. i'm hoping to catch some fish on them this summer when water temps rise and fish become aggresive :P

  • @FishingThePNW that would make my day on youtube lol. i always whip em in the shallows right outside the weedline, and i've caught maybe 4 largemouth on the spit-n-king and 1 monsterous smallmouth on a super spook jr., which scared the hay outta me because i was fishing a tree structure, and the bass jumped 1 or 2 feet in the air when the spook was out of the water.

  • hahahha at one 1:08

  • he looks alot bigger in the photo. damn solid fish at the end for that little pen

  • @phantomZ400 thanks :) and you're absolutely right, i thought that was kind of odd too. the first photo makes him look a lot bigger than he really was.

  • @Eriefisherman thanks :) i used to like eating fish when i was younger but as i grew older i started to not like it. i remember my dad fried up some smallmouth we caught out of the columbia river and it was pretty good :P

  • man that kid was anoying. nice fish at the end though. not many views but i love your videos

  • @TheRiverRat23 thanks a lot! i appreciate it! :)

  • nice fish. What kind of bait/lure are you using?

  • @airsoftsupersniper14 i was using 4" big bite baits finesse lizards texas rigged and 4.5" roboworms wacky rigged

  • and what would be a good season to catch them carp?

  • @ybm24 i believe the best time to fish for carp is during the summer months, info early fall when they are actively feeding.

  • cool, i love catching carp. do you know where a good spot to catch the carp?

  • @ybm24 hm.. i haven't done too much fishing for carp in washington. the main time i fished for carp was years ago at the columbia river and i caught a 15.5 lber. but i know that people catch them a lot at green lake and lake washington. wards lake in lakewood has them too.

  • i here rumors that theirs carp in that lake

  • @ybm24 they're not rumors, it's a fact. common carp are found in a lot of lakes all over washington. i see them swim by the dock and the shallows almost everytime i fish there. seen some giant pushing 15 lbs easy.

  • Wow dude I have never seen someone catch so many fricken fish out of one spot. If they were mostly 12in and over that would be heaven for anyone fishin a tournament. Nice job!

  • @fishercrazy1994 haha thanks a lot! it was a really hot day and a lot of the bass were taking advantage of the cover for shade. before my friend and i custom made this hat cam, i had days where i would catch 3 - 4 fish in the 2 lb range among a bunch of dinks. this day i only got one :P but none the less it's still a lot of fun!!

  • those fish fight hard for there size

  • @TopAZangler the last fish definitely put up a good fight, especially on ultra light tackle. the little ones not so much, but they feel bigger than they really are on ultra light tackle. still a lot of fun regardless of the size of fish :)

  • @FishingThePNW yeah ur right, keep making videos

  • @TopAZangler will try to next spring / summer

  • @FishingThePNW ok cool

  • nice fish would u mind telling me the hook size u were using ?

  • @darknessfalls714 1/0 worm hook

  • one after another, nice

  • @AdamsBaits haha thanks man :)

  • wow you forgot your net. every time i forget my net i catch big fish.

  • @thejanitorssuccess no i didn't forget my net, i don't have a net long enough to scoop a bass out from the high part of the dock.

  • your nice

  • @1ilytara :P thanks

  • how long did it take for the rod to come? how long wus the shippping?

  • @MikesFishingChannel not very long, only a few business days. if you order a rod or combo, you'll get an email confirming your order was shipped and after that it should only be a few days before you get it. if you decide to order one tell mike that elijah sent you :)

  • Nice video. I live in Sac, CA and fish my local lakes and the delta. Caught my personal best largemouth this year a 4 pound 10 oz I forget how much exactly but it was pushing 5 lbs. But yeah seems like in your video people seem to fish to eat in washington; in my experience fishing out in CA people tend to catch n release more and frown upon keeping fish. Fishing is a struggle for bankfishermen like me but I enjoy it. Well anyway what's ur Personal Best largemouth and fish overall?

  • @MungBoi people eat fish wherever you go, those who frown upon eating fish imo are just retarded. fish are no different than chicken or cows, man dominates and eats animals. my biggest largemouth was only a little over 3 lbs, i never really targeted them until this year. biggest fish overall was 15 1/2 lb carp in the columbia river.

  • awsome man! i live in washington! im heading there for sure!

do you live in washington or go there to fish?

  • @zammystavez yes, i live in washington

  • @FishingThePNW Awsome i live in longview what about you?

  • @zammystavez i live in seattle

  • @FishingThePNW Awsome! I'm planning on geting my license when im 16 and im gonna go fishing there for sure

  • That's pretty cool that you gave all the detailed fishing info at the beginning of this video. I know just what you mean about editing out the unwanted / unnecessary banter that's often associated with fishing. Good call on not lifting your catch when you're using such light test. It would appear you & I are using the same Berkley fish scale, as well. See ya on the tube!

  • @MLBRENIZER thanks man :)

  • finally something bigger than the lure :p

    hehehe

awesome work man! keep it up!!

  • @kirisilvermane haha, you got it chief :)

  • HAha still catchin em in this hot weather? Im heading too coulon tommorrow for some largies any tips?

  • @LippinSmallmouth haha yeap, the hot weather is what is making them hide under the dock in the shade :D i've never caught anything at coulon, i tried there earlier this year when the water was still kind of cold and didn't get a single bite. but for largemouth in general, i would recommend soft plastics rigged weightless, casted near structure.

  • Great fishing trip PNW! Finesse Lizards? Do bass bite on those? *ha ha* they are one of my favorite lures, as you know. You made that man fishing for dinner very happy as those small bass are excellent for the family. There was a huge school of bass under that dock, and I'm sure you had a great time!

  • @Winkiedoodles haha.. i donno perhaps my lizards were just lucky ;) it was definitely fun fishing. i had made a few trips during the past two weeks and caught several this size. but yeah, i'm a big fan of catch and release but when i saw that the man had a mini shovel and probably dug up his own worms within the park to catch his dinner, i kind of felt bad for him and wanted to help him out. he had only caught a couple of bluegill that i had saw.

  • @FishingThePNW Just a comment about catch and release. For years and years the reason I went fishing was to catch fish to bring home for the family or to clean and give to friends with special dietary needs. I don't think you can "fish out" a big lake by keeping fish. If your circumstance is that you like the sport of fishing but don't want to mess with cleaning them then catch and release is the way to go. Most of the time that's what I do, especially on the bigger bass.

  • @Winkiedoodles i like to catch and release because of two main reasons. one, i just love fishing for the sport of it and the excitement of catching fish. two, i don't like to eat fish. when i go fishing with my parents, i'll keep what i catch because they love fish. also, i too am well aware that it's nearly impossible to fish out a big lake, i just get extremely annoyed when ignorant people try to tell me that "keeping fish cheapens you as a fisherman"

  • @FishingThePNW I hear you! I'm sure your parents appreciate it when you catch them some fish, as will you when your kids catch some for youl That "cheapens you" comment is nonsense and totally illogical. It doesn't "cheapen" a person who digs clams because they keep the clams, or a person who catches lobsters because they keep the lobsters, or a person who shoots quail or pheasants because they keep the birds. Don't you worry about depleting the world's food supply with your Pen combo.

  • @Winkiedoodles i couldn't agree more :)

  • Maybe if you could get that down a little farther a bigger one might be easier to catch. Small bass in hordes of numbers are so fast and eager.

  • @Hatchetman6971 yeah i know, but from my experience with that dock, once you catch the small ones, they all spook and refuse to bite afterwards, then the bigger ones come out to play. but from my previous trips the past couple weeks when i didn't film, the bigger ones would bite first or inbetween the smaller fish.
