Pete had a very solid backhand- his slice was reliable and his topspin/flat shot was deceptively dangerous, especially when he had time to set up for it. It was all relative though as since his serve and forehand (running) was at such a high standard, his backhand appeared "weaker". The strength of Pete's game was his ability to raise his level at the crucial moments and hit high quality shots; you really had to beat the man.
Pete retired a bit too early for his age and low injury list. Perhaps wanted to retire with a bang while still on top of the game. That keeps his career win-loss ratio high.
Agassi continued much longer despite the physically grinding nature of his game, which tends to favor younger players.
rios had a great two handed backhand but his forehand could be a bit better to be more complete but the dropshots, inside out backhand and footwork was incredible
@sebaXcore06 Exacto es mas, al unico jugador al cual Rios siempre le tuvo respeto fue a Sampras, con el nunca se floreo como si lo hacia con Agassi o Boris Becker por ejemplo.

@gj1234 Well, he didn't really, apart from the US Open, he had an abysmal year for his standards. It was definitely the right time to bow out.

Petes backhand was weaker relative to his forehand. But by no means weak.

vintage sampras, had to wait until the end to strike, he still has the game at this late stage of his career

Toward the end of his career, Sampras still showing quickness of footwork and control of volleys at full stretch as seen in video at 6:43.
