Hey Rob, would you recommend me this amp ? Between i'm mostly playing Joe Satriani stuff. I would greatly appreciate if you could reply to this comment.
hey man, here blackout from COSTA RICA, do you have heard about the RT100 randall head?. we as a band are trying to find some quality heads (as you can see, not to expensive), to play live. what do you think about it? i would appreciate your contribution cause i now you now what you´re talking about.
Chappers, I'm in the market for a new amp, and Im stuck between the Marshall JMD1 100, the Blackstar HT100 and The Hughes and Kettner Switchblade 100. Which one do you reccomend out of the lot?
It's hard to tell from a YT vid. The one thing that will never be captured digitally is the 'air' that you get from an all tube amp. To me these amps sound like that auto-tune vocal function that been so over used now. Soul-less. Life-less. Yeah. Fizzy.
I bought one JMD102 and It doesn't sound like anything in the videos, I want to take it back to the store and compare it with some other ones, bring my guitar and cables. I think mine is somehow defective, I did cranked the volume up and bought hight quality monster cables, but still the snd is rubbish. I'm disappointed and hopefully I will get another one, or the guy at the store would be able to explain to me what the hell is wrong with it or what I'm doing wrong.
@liedjaeger The ones I played sounded like crap too. Once you get them louder they get flabby. I ended up buying the JVM 210C. More money but once you plug it in and crank it, you know where that extra money went. Plus you'll have a real Marshall.
Wow it sounds really muddy and undefined. Wow I can't believe you all can't hear it how horrible the distortion is. It sounds like those old PEAVEY MOS-VALVE amps from the 1980's. Rob is a great player, but this amp sucks.
So because it's very 'versatile' (and because I've just watched the Marshall demo) does that mean this amp doesn't handle the 'metal' as well as other Marshalls? Ie. it can do metal, but it's more of a vintage crunch amp?
I have had the pleasure of playing the Angel of Death version of that guitar. I wish I was rich... ACTUALLY, I live near one of the only shops that actually sell Dean guitars on a regular basis in New south wales in the lovely land of Kangaroos and Crocodile Dundees. Neck scale's not for me but a beauty look at and play all the same. Also, What happened to the Orange Amps you used to feature? You still have them somewhere in the depths of your garage/basement?
You know i may be anti-marshall, But i must say this amp sounds pretty awesome to me regardless what anyone says i think it's just a fully misunderstood beastly amp. And really who cares if it is digital or running tubes as long as it sounds good to the ear that is all that matters.
It is a Marshall so it isn't good for metal. I don't understand why Marshall will not make an amp with distortion. "OD1" and, "OD2" is as heavy as they will go.
I can't believe Marshall went on the same digital modeling game like line6 and others. I can get the same kind of tone out of my 15 watt marshall amp, and Boss me 70. But still that's all digital too. There is nothing like the real tube marshall amp. Just listen to Neal Schon's instrumental albums "Voice" and the latest one. The real fat, smooth and punchy distortions, I'm trying to get to.
@redflw welcome to 2010 buy a 59 and get fired from every club you play have used a 59 on 4 it makes your whole face hurt from sound pressure for a club not a colusseum player it's more than loud enough and no pedal board to drag around neils amps are so turned to 20 you coulnd't afford the tune up besid the p.a. is supposed to do the heavy lifting anyway your amp and a pair of 1500.00 akg's would probably scare ya with the right person mixing c-ya
Rob, You're an amazing musician. I'm from america, and i wish i could meet in person, so that i could see the true Monkey Lord! I Thank You for posting this video, its helping me with my next amp purchase! :D
chappers! greetings seeing how uve had the fantastic oppurtunitys to talk one on one with many of the people at marshall quick question! is the jmd1 share any relations to the jmp1?
@RobChappers hi mr chappers, just to say u are awsome dude, enjoy ya vids thay keep me going dude,iv got three forms of arthritus, only my hands spared so i can play guitar fairly good,so people like you keep me wanting to play ,keep it up dude,if you ever in nottingham pop in for a cuppa, rock on dude,
@dbenc I would argue that the most important part of an amplifier when playing certain genres, like blues or rock, for example, is definitely the power section. In metal, the preamp is the most important part in terms of tone shaping, but even then, a digital preamp doesn't have to be bad.
Jeez this amp sounds amazing! I sorta thought a digital preamp wouldnt make a great sound from this amp, but I am mistaken.. and once again, one of the best guitarists shredding! Keep it up chappers, you rock!
I'll stick with my '69 Plexi.. and my Mesa Boogie Stiletto Deuce.. No offence to Marshall but this sounds worse than the DSL/TSL amplifiers and they were horrid..
