  • 1st time listening to a Jenny and Johnny song. I'm really liking this :)

  • My favorite Jenny and Johnny song.<3

  • jon rice is rude to his fans. straight up.

  • I love this song, and I love jenny's shoes :)

  • Everytime I look at Jenny and Johnny videos there's so much J.Rice hate in the comments. Youtube needs to give me the option of hiding all the comments, too much bad mojo.

  • the beat sounds like "Down" be pearl jam

  • @hailthechief2 Yeah , it does.

  • aww my heart melts haha

  • Rice & Jenny are both great solo artist and Jenny is amazing with RIlo Kiley, but I don't thing the two of them mesh well togethor at all

  • this sounds like Belly

  • Chanced upon this. It is beautiful and sweet as the urgent excitement of first love. The love that seems so scary n exciting, it takes you time to remember which sex you're supposed to love. Until you remember what's supposed to happen.

  • @dermotwalker What?

  • the clash??? I can hear a clash song here but can't think which one?!?! Nice choon.

  • Im not gonna lie, i respect Jonathon Rice as a Musician, but i can't help but hate him. He's with Jenny Lewis and I'm not.

    dope song nonetheless

  • this johnny guy has gotta be stoked on life

  • SASQUATCH 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • RIP Rilo Kiley (1998-2008)

  • I liked Jenny Lewis in "The Wizard"

  • @BojanglesUdon I liked her in "Troop Beverly Hills."

  • Rilo Kiley 'portions for foxes.'

  • rilo kiley was way better than this.

  • its nice. but my favourite is still 'rabbit fur'

  • To those who think you need climaxes and crescendos to make good music: you are wrong. Good day.

  • Jenny and Ryan Adams should totally work together.

  • the wizard

  • Every song those two sounds the same. Don´t get me wrong, the music is good. But, in my eyes, there is just nog `climax`. It´s just this. Perfect music to fall in sleep with, but nothing more.

  • reminds me of Lemonheads...

  • Somebody needed to revise Americana to account for parts that have gotten left out of other retrospectors' visions, I'm glad they've done it so gracefully.

  • This is okay and I really dug Jonathans album from 2008 but she needs to get with Blake and put out some Rilo Kiley stuff. And I aint talking about Under The Black Light *cough* Junk *cough*. I mean Execution of all Things style.

  • I am completely in LOVE with this song! :)

  • I get a Yo La Tengo vibe from this song.

  • rabbit fur coat was a perfect album... this may take a few listens. I REALLY like the version of carpetbaggers they did on that puppet show. Too bad Elvis Costello was on the album version

  • it's not bad. but she really should be making music with blake. it was so wonderful. even solo was great. sadly, her heart is with johnathan, and more sadly, she's putting this stuff out in her name with him. he's not blake and never will be. i mourn for the old days when i hear this 'just okay' stuff from her.

  • saw them last night in LA. she is so precious

  • Awesome!

  • who even cares who's work was better? it's music. enjoy it or dont enjoy it.

    tis that simple.

  • i love the 70s feel in this, indie is soo awesome.. good music is finally making a comeback!!!

  • I enjoyed this, don't know either, but I'm from New Zealand and thought this would be an awesome CD for the upcoming summer here in New Zealand, fantastic.

  • From someone who's from the otherside of the world, namely New Zealand, I listened to this in my local CD store and thought awesome. New Zealand summer coming up, this will be one of many CD's I'll be playing, fantastic.

  • Johnny is one lucky son of a bitch

  • I really love Jenny Lewis, I haven't listened to Rice that much. I just don't know about this one.

  • From a personal pov, I love this. From a critical pov, I still love it.

  • Personally, i think this has a great chorus even despite its basic chord structure. Not all good music songs needs a "hook". Its simple - Jenny Lewis style.

  • I fucking love this!

  • Why do so many people dislike this? -_- I love it!!!!!!!

  • New Pornographers cut a more interesting piece from this cloth a long time ago, IMHO. However, when it comes to putting out music, my attitude is simple: Give'r!

  • @jimmyglitch That's funny you'd say that, I stumbled upon this mid-song on a local college station and thought for a moment it was some sort of softened Neko Case side project...only to dismiss that because Neko Case doesn't do soft, she only does FIERCE! I think it's pretty good for something not from Canadians hahaha.

  • @TheSkyAboveAblaze Ok, so she sounds a little like Neko Case. I've heard Neko Case songs that are much "softer" than this, whatever that means. Don't get me wrong I love Neko Case, I love The New Pornographers, but I don't know what you mean by this being "softer" than anything Neko Case has put out.

  • @TheSkyAboveAblaze Neko Case is from VA

  • I don't think anyone is criticizing Jenny or Johnny for being happy or trying to make a different kind of music. The song just simply falls flat, whether you compare it with either of their earlier work or the work of any other noteworthy musicians. The lyrics are the only part of the song that stand out. No good hooks. Wimpy vocals. Not a very good song :/

  • I found this in Teen Vouge and it sucks!

  • bonjoui's douti'fe lsuhf lsheuya

  • California Dreaming Moment. Driving north on Hwy 101 in July to Big Sur. This song was playing on one of those "left of the dial" radio stations. I crank the volume and my speed, roll down all the windows and watched as the scenery became more vivid and sensed the smell of the ocean stronger. I think the melody caused this or just a mix from all aspects of the weekend getaway experience. Are those Jenny's legs in the photo above? Damn! Mmmmmm, Papi likes!

  • Let's get something straight here... Amoeba Music in Hollywood is promoting Jenny and Johnny as a unique style... While I love it... it's not original... see: Pete Yorn and Ms. Johanson - The modern male/female harmony era begins with these two... not taking anything away from Ms. Lewis and Mr. Rice... they're doin' a fine job.

  • Great duet! - love it.

  • Love it!!! <3 Like this if you saw it in Teen Vogue!!

  • @IzzyAndReneeXxX I definitely did(: Im a music junkie always looking for a great fix. This was alright, but it gets stuck in my head(:

  • I like it, I like it a lot. It's something new.

  • This song is null... I mean I'll forget it within 5 minutes. Jenny can do better than this... SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!

Anyway I hope the "We're having fun" album title refers to Improvising music and just recording it. And doesn't refer to: "We're having fun cause we'll be more famous"

  • I love Jenny Lewis solo, but I also adored rabbit fur coat. I think this is kind of Rilo Kileyish with a mix of something new. Definitely enjoy it more than Acid Tongue. Although I pretty much like anything with her name on it.

  • @xbyebyebeauty Agreed - "Scissor Runner" is definitely more similar to Rilo Kiley than to solo Jenny Lewis, which is a good thing imo.

  • I know it sounds a bit presumptuous but it sounds very Fleetwood Mac, like the Buckingham/Nicks era, and I like it. =3

  • @AwinnerisNate I agree. I've always heard a Fleetwood Mac influence in Rilo Kiley as well.

  • Nice to hear something come from both of them.

People seem to complaining about them making an album together- and that their solo stuff is better. Its frustrating because its important to understand that as musicians you want to express yourself in many different ways, not just one.

It would be boring to hear the same thing from both of them over and over. Jenny is so great because she in constantly reinventing herself. Can't wait to hear what's next!

  • just wait til the whole album comes out. it's brilliant

  • She is in a new chapter of her life right now. She sounds really happy. She has a partner she can share her creativity with. And yes, both artists, I think, are more powerful on their own...but they are happy. And it is refreshing to hear. It's depressing that we live in an age where the more messed up you are, the more respect you get. There is nothing wrong with love songs. I wish them both only the best, and I am excited to see them play soon. Kudos to both of them.

  • I feel bad about everyone talking such shit on this project. I think if you were a fan of Jenny Lewis whatsoever, it is more about the concept and the personal progression than anything new or groundbreaking. My favorite thing about Jenny is that there are lyrical and musical changes as she changes- because of this, a lot of fans feel like they grow with her. I do. This is a new chapter of her life, and although I could relate, lyrically, to some of her more candid and sardonic songs...

  • I think this is good. It sounds a lot like The New Pornographers.

  • Not a good song, although the line "I'll forgive you, if I outlive you" is damn creative.

  • @mellotron12

    I also thought so!

  • You know what guys, they just don't sound good together. There's nothing we can do about it but grit our teeth and hope that she takes lead vocals on the majority of the record. I honestly haven't heard much from Jonathan Rice, but whenever he's involved with any portion of her career I always find myself rather underwhelmed.

  • @SomeCalcium really even carpetbaggers? his voice is so big on that track. i think if you give his solo stuff a shot you will think differently

  • @kimgraysonx That's Elvis Costello not Jonathan Rice.

  • @SomeCalcium im aware of that but johnathan rice does a great version of the track with jenny on tours and whatnot, i thought we were talking about johnathan rice, i think youd probs like it anyway

  • @kimgraysonx he's just alright. i don't think he's terrible. he's just alright. But if you think about it here we have one of the best female leads to come out of the last decade and he just doesn't complement her that well.

  • Jenny, marry Rice but don't make music together.

  • It's fun music, not everything has to be as good as more adventurous or Rabbit Fur Coat.

  • If she's happy being with this guy, that's great. I just wish her creativity didn't have to suffer so much. I understand her "I'm having fun now" state of mind, but I miss the old Jenny.

  • This song is amazing and I cannot wait for the album! Now come and tour the UK!!!

  • Bottlerocket and Yep147 have got it right as I see it. Jenny has been losing her way since Acid Tongue, which saved itself with a handful of good songs. This sort of collaboration often doesn't work as the experiment with Elvis Costello surely proved. I really hope she didn't peak with the RK albums and RFC as she is a talented lady who should be going up, not down at this stage of her career.

  • i like them together. i have to admit i am a bigger rilo kiley/jenny lewis fan. but, he has pretty much been there with her for most of her solo career. and i love their collaborations. his album further north was really good. so, i guess i am trying to say they are good either way. with or without each other. but, i really like this song. and it has a different sound than anything they have done. so, that is good.

  • johnathan rice is a talentless hack riding the coat tails of jenny lewis.

  • Jenny keeps destroying her career. Check out the Rilo Kiley albums The Execution of All Things and More Adventurous, and you'll see why this is so disapointing. Jonathan Rice is no Blake Sennett.

  • i love my sisterrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • @Pandemoniumsk8er88 What? You need to listen to Jenny Lewis's solo work...I personally think it's better than Johnathan Rice's work.

  • Comment removed

  • @Pandemoniumsk8er88 thats a take on jenny and johnny that i believe you hold alone. jenny lewis is clearly soulful, diverse and impressive. i love johnathan rice but jenny lewis is more talented and thats not debatable!

  • @kimgraysonx oh its debatable... Johnathans old stuff from death valley was great, some of the best stuff i've heard. Don't get me wrong Jenny is good, its just they are two different singers, two different writers. I think it's great they are together, but not together in music. I guess I am just bitter i wanted Rice to come out with his own stuff.

  • @Pandemoniumsk8er88 dont get me wrong, i love johnathan, but jenny lewis is INCREDIBLE, check out rilo kiley and lewis and the twins, your point of view will forever be changed

  • Dear Jenny Lewis,

Rabbit Fur Coat is as enjoyable as Abbey Road. Please aim more towards that.

This song is ok, but amateur in comparison to RFC. Sorry.

    All the best.

  • @Yep147 Couldn't have said it better.

  • i prefer jenny lewis by herself. Even jenny with the watson twins was great... but this is just alright.

  • early september

  • Can't wait.

  • jonathan rice, go die

  • excellent

  • oooh i love this song. puts me in a summery dancey mood :) xo

  • I love Jenny Lewis. I love Rilo Kiley. So far, I like Jonathan Rice. based on this one song- I'd much prefer way more Jenny, less Johnny. Great vocals. Forgettable song.
