This is a really good Re-construction I saw a school play of Little Shop of Horrors but they used the Damn good ending I like how you Supper Time when patrick martin came in.
Despite what test audiences preferred, I find this ending infinitely better. I always thought the theatrical ending seemed rushed - slapdash, even - but this is obviously the way it was meant to be. However, I rather like Furychord's idea with the flowers.
you know when i wach some versions of this it,s in black in white but here it seems like some are in black and white and some are blueish or somthing dis you use some color filters or somthing ?
I started a Facebook group dedicated to getting WB to release a DVD with the original ending ... can't include a link in these comments but it shouldn't be hard to find.
The DVD has a Music Only Track so was able to cut that up to use it as music under the workprint dialogue. Such as in part 2 where he's being showed the small plant.
@robertreturns Right. He goes down like a wimp in this version. In the play he goes into the plant's mouth with a knife, but in this version he comes at the plant with a gun, an axe, and bug spray. very wimpy.
@robertreturns Um... sorry. I was a little sleepy when I posted that comment. I forgot that in the play he... actually IS a lot less wimpy in the play. ehehe... my apologies.
3.28 looks like she's allready somewhere thats green lol!
no, but thanks for the upload, i have to say that i prefare the ending were they all live happily after apart from the creepy little weed in the garden at the end,....
Yes I found that the music only track features just the music for that part so was able to using it as the backing, as I thought it needed some ambiance because the workprint is missing music in many important places and I thought a reprise of that music was quite fitting here. If you want to see how different I made it from the workprint (well except Audrey's death, there was nothing to do there) check out the video this is a response to.
@trailersic that's a brilliant touch! Martin was actually intended to sing a reprise of "The Meek Shall Inherit" in the play, but for whatever reason they dropped it.
Okay. Thanks. So far, I think my favorite movie with Paul Dooley would have to be Popeye, in which he played Wimpy alongside Robin Williams who played the title role. Have you seen or heard of that movie?
This is a little weird. I mean it's always good when you do a movie based on a play to keep the spirit of the play alive; on the other hand try not to distance away your audience of get a bad review. Audrey dying and than eaten may have been a bit much and frankly could only be something to come of the Audrey's mouth; very emotional to see. Paul Dooley's portrayal of Patrick seemed to be a little less better than Jim B's. Seymour's thoughts are priceless.
Oh darn!

I want to know why Seymour didn't just light a cocktail, throw it in, and burn the place down.

Why do I feel the need to make a FanFic of this movie but with Nightmare Before Christmas Characters?

I kind of like it in black and white. Makes it look like a real 50's B movie.

How were you able to seperate the dialogue from the music in the scene where Audrey is attacked?

@Alnoshic
The DVD has a Music Only Track so was able to cut that up to use it as music under the workprint dialogue. Such as in part 2 where he's being showed the small plant.

why is the film all black and whiteish?
FuryChord 2 years ago
Black & White Workprint, only version of the ending available publicly.
trailersic 2 years ago
they should've kept this ending and had all the actors reprise as flowers with their faces on it. that might have calmed down some of the viewers.
it just doesn't work with a sweet ending. the message just seems to be" do terrible things for greedy means, and last minute you'll be saved!"
FuryChord 2 years ago 11
@FuryChord Ugh, though, can you imagine how grisly those zombie-flower faces might have looked? It might have had the opposite effect! LOL

@Genogenesis7 also, he goes down fighting in the play, he goes down standing there until the plant grabs him.

Who do you prefer as Patrick Martin, Paul Dooley or James Belushi?
Rkerekes13 2 years ago
Paul Dooley fits the original ending, James Belushi fits the lighter ending.

Popeye got everything right except I think it had the wrong director, known for a realistic style when a more cartoonish ott style was called for.
trailersic 2 years ago
I guess so.

@trailersic If director Frank Oz (longtime muppeteer as well!) saw your reconstruction of this ending here, I'm sure he'd be proud!

Does the original color camera negative still exist for the alternate ending?
darthkurland 3 years ago
I know what you're thinking. No, I don't think it does. I think only the B&W version exists.
Solachinx 3 years ago
The color version of the ending exists. It is in the possesion of producer David Geffen.

Is Geffin even alive anymore? I haven't heard anything from him since he said he had the color ending.

Yes he's alive, but he has yet to allow Warner to release the colored ending.
