Sorry, but I was never a Van Hagar fan. Never bought any of their albums, while I had bought all the original VH LPs as well as a bunch of boots. Listen to the boots pre-1984 tour - Roth does the same schlock routine at every gig. He forgets lyrics half the time. This B.S. was what pissed off the Van Halen brothers in the old days. By the way, I saw VH on their first ever US Tour - Roth actually sang the songs, Eddie ripped, and it was one of the best shows I ever saw next to Zeppelin. Up Yers!

In a way, I think this kind of performance is rock at its peak. If you think about it as an over the top performance, instrumentaly, pseudo-sexually and a product of interactive fusion, which was risque in its time, it's hard to think of a better continuation of the kind of energy that Elvis created with his rip or the blues.
Got within 2 feet of Dave in 1986 when he was outside warming up for a solo gig in San Bernardino, Ca at the Orange Show Pavilion, and without security. His ego was in overdrive and didn't want me to snap a pic. Anyways, it was cool nonetheless. It was awesome having Heinekens with Eddie in 1994 though! Great time and without the ego.
As a child of the late 70's/early 80's rock scene, this was about as good as it will ever be. Raw and Nasty!

Roth is so full of sh*t. When he headlined Merriweather Post Pavilion in 1991, I was front row center stage, and there were these two average looking chicks to my right. All thru Roth's set she kept saying "Play Panama! Play Panama!" In keeping with his pre-arranged schlock, Roth came over to her and said, "Whadya say, honey? Whadya say?? Hey, don't stick out that tongue at me unless you plan to use it!" Crowd goes nuts. Truth was: The girl never stuck her tongue out, and only said "Play Panama"

Sorry, but I was never a Van Hagar fan. Never bought any of their albums, while I had bought all the original VH LPs as well as a bunch of boots. Listen to the boots pre-1984 tour - Roth does the same schlock routine at every gig. He forgets lyrics half the time. This B.S. was what pissed off the Van Halen brothers in the old days. By the way, I saw VH on their first ever US Tour - Roth actually sang the songs, Eddie ripped, and it was one of the best shows I ever saw next to Zeppelin. Up Yers!

I caught the 84 tour when I was very young with my older brother and it was GREAT!! I also saw Halen on the 07-08 tour and it was surprisingly good!! You See, Ladies & Gentlemen: This is why Van Halen was never the same band after David Lee Roth left (got pushed out, fired, whatever..): I've always been a fan of Sammy Hagar & thought if anyone could front VH Sammy probably was the only logical choice. Sammy's a better singer but it's tough to replace quite possibly the greatest Frontman in all of Rock. Overall, Sammy's a better musician (voice & guitar): But David Lee Roth is The Ultimate Showman! In a way, I think this kind of performance is rock at its peak. If you think about it as an over the top performance, instrumentaly, pseudo-sexually and a product of interactive fusion, which was risque in its time, it's hard to think of a better continuation of the kind of energy that Elvis created with his rip or the blues.

Got within 2 feet of Dave in 1986 when he was outside warming up for a solo gig in San Bernardino, Ca at the Orange Show Pavilion, and without security. His ego was in overdrive and didn't want me to snap a pic. Anyways, it was cool nonetheless. It was awesome having Heinekens with Eddie in 1994 though! Great time and without the ego.
