  • what's the point of anything? all is in vain. to have fun, only a few ways man can fly, try one.

  • You could only do this with a Blanik. Best glider ever!!

  • Hot shots!!! :D

  • going for a poo

  • Also physics, his body is going the same speed as the aircraft, his dangling legs could counter his upper bodies wind resistance on the wing

  • Old School Ejection Seat~

  • What's the point of flying a plane which needs another plane to go up ? !! lolz

  • @ELFuriouss Well along with the feeling of freedom, there is peace and quiet, as well unlike the one towing it. The glider can stay up indefinitely.

  • @ELFuriouss I have done 19 glider flights, and have never been towed up by another plane!

  • @menglinhai Good for u. Which helicopter u used then?

  • @ELFuriouss Almost there :D Winch launches - basically there's a massive winch at one end of the runway, and a winch rope attached to the glider on the other end of the runway. When the winch is suddenly reeled in, the glider accelerates to take-off speed within a couple of seconds, and you can get to about 1,500 feet on the winch before you detach and continue normal flight.

  • I know this will sound stupid to some of you, but how come the wind doesen't blow him of?

  • @bankslord They aren't going very fast. A glider doesn't need a lot of speed to create lift because of it's big wings. It would be like sitting on the roof of a car doing about 70kph

  • @cccmaster 70kph? Thats about 45ish mph? (sorry i'm english!). Isn't he being towed by a prop plane though? Don't they have a faster flying speed? Although it doesn't look like they're going that fast to be honest. Thanks for the reply.

  • @bankslord was watching another video about 2-5 minutes ago that showed an Arctic bush plane landing within its own length, so, plane's can go pretty slow and still stay in the air, just gotta have enough wing area for the weight

  • @44R0Ndin Ahh right, cheers for the info fella. I was under the (wrong) impression that planes flew round at break-neck speed all the time.

  • You should land with him up there.

  • Balls.

  • It called parachuting

  • now THAT'S wing walking. None of that girls in harnesses shit.

  • Would be more fun if it was the pilot.

  • respekt to the pilot not to this crazy guy on the wing

  • You spend a f*****g year trying to make the wing as efficient as possible and then they ruin your job by placing a skydiver on it! How annoying xP

  • Oh shit, I forgot to put my parachute on! lol

  • @dmb3808 hahaha actually for safety reasons, you have to wear a parachute even when you're not jumping ;D

  • That was neat! Too bad the engine quit~~~~~lol!

Didn't they do this before in "Flight of the Phoenix"? They had five on the wing! Group hug when they landed..

  • cool vid!

  • JUMP ALREADY !!!

  • 1:16 and now a spin :)

  • I thought it said 'Passenger bails out of Blank Glider' as in their was no pilot -_-

  • ...looked like a lot of delicate preparation for that...CD shift, extra drag, higher CG,

etc., while on tow...! And then bailing out so low after release!

  • Thats got to be a really efficient airbrake, shame there are no 3 seaters, might be useful for small fields !

  • Now try it without a parashuit!

  • That's some crazy shit. Love it.

  • haha mad but brlliant

  • lol it looks like a kite with the rope on front ( i know it isnt)

  • @michael12533 made entirely of metal

  • so was he just bailing out for a stunt or was he going down

  • @aaronzack14 stunt

  • What's the great than what you doing

  • that was made of pure win D:

  • it's fake

    1. you should be blown off.

    2. look at the launching cable at the front...

  • @FlyinTheNetherlands Blown off? it's a glider man not a mach 1 jet. and the cable in the front is for a winch launch, which can launch a glider up to 3,000 feet without the use of a tow plane.

  • @FlyinTheNetherlands ur full of shit

  • did he die?

  • @oragamimadness nah 3000 feet he's got a few seconds to open hgis chute

  • wow u had to push a lot of right aileron and rudder

  • I swear, I would shit myself hanging off that wing.

  • 0.o

  • Did he had only the main parachute?

  • Ma whered my CG go?

  • I love it how he is just chilling on the wing for a while, it's like it's not a big deal

  • Someone is fearless. I would love to try that.

  • Oh my god the wind resistance mustve been BAD sitting there...how did he not have to hold onto anything?

  • fail its not even flying its beeing strung up like a kite theres a string on the front

  • @birdboy10 thats the tow rope it is flying.

  • @birdboy10

and another who thinks they know anything about aviation. string? tow cable you mean. and how does he stay in the air if he's not flying? xD

  • P2 just been informed that he pays for the flight.

  • i thought at one point that he was going to light a cigarette...

  • u cant do that in a k-13

  • what's amazing is he just crawls out and sits on the wing like he was at home plopping down on his sofa. I would leave a mess on the wing and trailing miles behind...very cool, thanks for posting!

  • the guy probably played just cause 2

  • die haben sie doch nicht mehr alle

  • wasn't that impressed until the glider was released. VERY impressed now.

  • OMFG ! that would be spooky to try

  • he dosent bail out he just sits on the wing of the plane for ike 5 minuts?

  • @mmclaughlin01 i will like to see you do that. i think sitting there is more scary than acctualy jumping

  • @mmclaughlin01 I would happily empty my bank account and throw it at you to see you try this. Take it from someone who has done several skydives, this isn't easy. I doubt the guy could have used an AAD (look it up) because of the risk of it firing due to the glider's frequent descents so if he slipped and hit his head etc he would have been dead.

  • was my wife driving ????

  • The guy just needed some fresh air, that's all! lol

  • cool to see how the pilot works against the drag that guy makes as he is edging himself more and more to the right:-)

wish he could edged himself a bit more, just to see how much more the drag would cause the glider to turn..

    awesome clip non the less:-)

  • Fantastic! How much did you have to compensate for drag and roll in torwards the chap on the wing?

  • that guy is badass

  • damn.

  • Good pilot to keep the plane that steady when it was getting off balance.

  • I would NOT like to be sitting on a wing. But that´s just me.

  • the pilot farted, it was that bad

  • that's fun... he's a genius, but if he does more stunts like that, he wouldn't have a long live...

  • id be scared shitless

  • that's got to be one good view for a minute

  • Gut gemacht, aber ein wenig närrisch!

  • cool

  • just go to 1:25

  • Dipin, with comments like that you have to be careful. People might just realise that you really are the intelectual pigmy they always thought you were.

  • @DipinSauce then do it

  • @DipinSauce It's called PARACHUTING for a reason you dumb fuck. Skydiving is a sport you can only do once if you're not using a parachute.

  • this is epic in just so many levels

first, you CAN ACTUALLY SIT ON A PLANES WING HOLY SHIT

  • The wing is creating lift so you can. If you did this on the ground.. well not good

  • lol do you know Battlefield Heroes? its a free shooter game and u can ride on the planes wings as a passenger. go watch the trailer

btw, i knew this was physically possible, but have never seen anyone so awesome as to attempt it in real life

  • Sure, the Blanik has strong wings, plus in the air they carry their own weight. Probably shouldn't try it on the ground :). There's a simliar video floating around with finnish guys climbing all the way to the wingtip of their Blanik in the air.

  • that really messes with the balance lucky he is being towed

  • That was cool. I'll bet the glider pilot was heavy on the right rudder and aileron.

  • amazing!

  • A good idea to reduce the costs. Simply find a parachuting companion. Crazy, sitting on the wing he impacts the dynamics of the glider while still beeing towed by the aircraft. This must be experimental.

  • We had almost the same thing here on EERA, but we had a Blanik with 2 jumpers and a pilot on board, little modification in cockpit, but super sexy result :) I have seen the video also, but I don't have it.

  • Jumping at low air speed is really weird. If any skydivers get a chance to jump out of a hotair balloon then do it. The first 200ft is silent, dead air. Very weird.

Might be similar from a glider.

    Cool vid.

  • A glider doesn't fly at speeds bellow 100km/h approx. that's 70mph.

  • yes they do.

a two seater like the ask-21 can fly between 70 and 75 km/h

  • a Ka-8 still flys at 55km/h

    schleicher ftw!

  • Yes but :

    - how far from stall at that speed ? Not far.

    - how safe with assymetry caused by drag of the guy on the wing ? - Not safe.

    - How silent is head out of a vehicle going at 55 km/h ? - Not silent

This is to tell people and "reallyratherwouldnt" that a glider is really fast, much like a plane for that matter.

In hot air ballons there is absolutly no relative wind because it's moving with it. Must be very cool to jump off one.

  • @7cle Yes, indeed...Never jumped out of a glider but did out of a hot air balloon once...

Bizarrely scary...mainly because it feels like you're properly falling for a bit, and you can't control how, rather than exiting straight into a wind tunnel

  • @reallyratherwouldnt Kinda like a chopper jump, same deal.

  • This one's (Blanik) minimum airspeed is 65km/h. But this jump was in about 100-120km/h, because it has similar airspeed as the towing plane right there.

  • Wow.

This guy's obviously not afraid of heights.

  • I'm a lot less afraid of heights when wearing a parachute too.

  • Those Blaniks are very sturdy craft. I've been in a few. But I'm still suprised it flew will with 200 lbs sitting on the wing like that. I'm sure the pilot had to do some compensation with the stick.

  • Forward flip off the wing...style points!

  • Do balls of steel count for style points?

  • me next.....me next.....

  • fucking crazy ... like it :)

  • put searchword: blanik boogie

there you can see how to even go until the wingtip

or for the 1 min trailor put searchword: blanik-jumping

    :)

  • looks fun.

  • I have some doubts about the legitimacy of this video. The wind should be affecting the skydivers jumpsuit and the change in the glider's center of gravity as the skydiver goes farther out onto the wing doesn't seem to be compensated for by the pilot. Can anyone address this?

  • i just disembarked on a glider to check the legitimacy of the video, the airspeed of a lo speed glider, such as a 3 passenger glider (really two passengers but you can cram two in the back) the speed can be lowered to 30 miles per hour. the airspeed and groundspeed read about 32 mph, that may not be enough to visibly show the air stress on the jumpsuit, you can also if the windspeed is high enough, float backwards. you can be moving at 50 mph windspeed but groundspeed only cover -5 mph.

  • I was about to say the same. The wind on a glider wouldn't hit the same and a propelled airplane.

The glider is not going that fast.

But whoa! I'd be afraid to jump and would pray that my parachute would deploy properly

  • As I'm the guy jumping then I can say that the pilot did have to compensate as I moved further out. I was talking to him, he was asking when I was going to jump and I was asking him to come over to the left so that I could land in the correct place.

  • You have a lot of guts to jump out of a functional aircraft. I'd only ever jump out of a plane that was definitely not going to be able to land safely.

  • Ha, thanks, but who was to say that it was going to land safely?

Although to be fair the pilot was an instructor and knew precisely what he was doing.

  • I take my hat off to you for doing that jump, it's a great spectacle to watch. Were you worried about blanking/disrupting the airflow to the fin or tailplane and did the pilot notice any effects when you were forward of the empennage?

  • you sound like someone that reads a lot of books, but maybe never been around too many airplanes...

  • I do read a lot and I've got about 2000 hrs. in helicopters, including a few hundred hrs. as an IP and about 900 hrs. combat time. How about you, Jeffo?

  • My dad had a guy parachute from his Cherokee 180, a low-wing single engine plane. When the jumper got out on the wing, he disturbed the airflow so much, the plane went into a spiral. My dad said it seemed to take forever for the guy to finally jump, and he was sure if the guy had dawdled any longer, they were going to spin in and get killed.

I guess a glider has a much longer wing, so there is some disturbance, but it seemed to be correctable.

  • I am now blinded by overexposure to PURE AWESOMENESS!!!! This guy has balls that CLANK when he walks.

  • Muahahaha, good one! ^^

  • @unclesara Nah, try jumping out of a C-130 at 500 feet AGL at 175 knots at night, with 150lbs of gear and a weapon strapped to your body. This guy had it easy...

  • @rangerstubbs76 yeah but dude...so what...i haven't seen a video on it and stop bragging, does that make you better than he is....everyone has to start somewhere...this is pretty cool, just imagine yourself sitting on a wing while flying with a chute strapped on to your ass and the wind passing by....that'll be pretty cool

  • @s030141 I thought his jump was cool and it'd be damn fun to try that. But I never said once that doing what I did made me better than anyone else. I merely made a comment that his jump wasn't that hard, from a purely technical perspective. It's a little bit different.

  • @rangerstubbs76 ok man, sorry, it's just the way you said that comment...that's all :)

  • Post it!

    @rangerstubbs76

  • @unclesara Ummm, can't exactly post a vid because it gets dark outside at night. You really can't see much in the aircraft, let alone see the jumpers in the air without night vision or a little ambient light. That's the whole point of night jumps. I'll try and find a day jump for ya though and post that.

  • Awesome! Reminds me of my second jump where I had to climb and hang on the wing-pylon of Cessna 172 to avoid hitting the tail. This would be even more awesome :)

  • Sick ! i wanna try this:)

  • ok that was pretty awesome

  • That is the the coooolest thing my eyes have ever seen.

  • heheheh ^^^

  • LMAO!

  • I've never seen a glider with forward swept wings

  • hmm, that's not too strange a feature in a glider... the stadard-issue-training-glider here in Poland, the SZD-50-3 Puchacz has slightly forward swept wings too...

  • sailplanes are supposed to be nearly 90% efficient at producing lift, a normal 170lbs man should seriously screw up airflow sitting on a wing....someone please explain this to me :) in good cheers ofcourse, just a question!

  • The glider was airtowed you ca see the rope so it had enough speed to remain stable .

  • I wish I was a "Normal" 170lbs man! :-(

  • the man is only destroying the airflow over a small area of the wing, yes teh pilot would have to counteract for the lack of lift and the weight, but it shouldn't be too hard to fly.

  • damn.. i wanted to see this guy folded around the vertical stab.. well, i guess a skydive is entertaining too *sigh*

  • I'm supprised that he had enough aleron to keep the wings level.

  • Too bad you can't do this with a K21

  • cool

  • if you bail it means that the aircraft is broken and then you jump out

  • must've been hard to keep the glider steady. nice vid

  • yes, i thought the same, especially because of the lightness of a glider

  • I just seen this, I had to bail out of a glider 10 years ago after it got destroyed by a powerful lightning bolt. I was the passenger and it was my first flight!!!

I am soon to return to the sky in a glider to celebrate my 40th birthday. To read my story just cut and paste the following into google:- big40reachfortheskiesagain

  • youve posted this comment on loads of other videos.

  • corajoso esse kara em parabems pela façanha

  • why is he bailing out theres nothin wrong with the glider

  • it's a stunt. Like an extreme stunt.

  • He doesn't like the pilot.

  • I have this exact same problem. My passengers keep jumping out.

  • lol :P

  • its cus you smell funny. :)

  • lol!

  • That looks fun... I wanna try that.

  • dats cool. but it looked petty dangerous for the pilot too. i hope found a thermal.

  • Yeah, so what do I need to do to convice the BGA here in England that this is a good idea? lol

  • that must have been a nasty fart if you decide to leave the plane midair :-)

  • Should have put the air brakes up when he sat on the wing :P

  • bwahahahha

  • thats nothing.?

  • eh why not?

  • Very nice jump. Go on wingjump in estonia. there you can see the same from suisseparatrooper. ;-)

    Blue sky

  • Wow lol O_O

  • should add a music.
