The movie was a direct to DVD release. If it sold good they were supposed to think about bringing the series back. It worked for Futurama but I don't know what's happening with this series. It's too bad tho, I love the dark humor.
For those who don't understand it, it's meant to signify George has been promoted to the boss of their group. After the movie was released, and questions popped up on fansites, the main writer did clarify that this is what it meant.
George did what she needed to do. Even after reuniting with her sister, she knew she had to let her sister move on, which meant cutting her out of her life completely. The other reapers all failed their test by falling to temptation. Thus, George was promoted.
@glam52queen It's from a follow-up movie "Dead Like Me: Life After Death." This is the "29th" episode. It came out in 2009. I just watched the entire series for the 1st time over the past week and a half on Netflix and got addicted. Wished they never stopped the series. :(
*man*.....I am a fan of "Dead Like Me"...and, of the (few) tributes to the show that I have seen, so far (on YT) this one cuts to the heart. Very nice.
YT is (sometimes) a daft assembly of nonsense.....THANK YOU for bringing a bit of artistic interpretation.....to those of us who just like to hear (at least) the music.
Of crouse, the visual interpretations...well....YOU be the "judge (as they say.....)
Now to me i take all the post-its falling around her to mean that she is now the leader and has rube's old job. now before i get a bunch of messages about roxy being the one keep in mind that Georgia was the only one that didn't go along with kane she keep to the rules and did what was right.
@MrRegalRahl There are people who don't think that meant George is the new boss, I thought it was a pretty universal thoughts, because Rube always used post-it notes. But yeah I agree, I just find it shocking that there are people who don't.
The actress who played Daisy Adair in "Life After Death" (Sarah Wynter) also played the sister to Laura Harris, the real Daisy Adair, in the 2nd season of 24. Some coincidence, eh?
But it made no sense. Why have a different actress play Daisy? Why not just invent a new character since this Daisy did not look like Laura Harris (who is so beautiful) and did not act like her. So stupid. As was the special in general. Awful, really. And the series was so good.
@XxShaym1nxX exactly they could have made up something to why she wasnt there like they did for rube and just have someone else. just what i was thinking
were did all the post its come from? If I had writen ithe ending i would've scripted a space station in space with an open door, indicating the post its had fallen..
@relltdl dude syfy didn't even want to bother paying for a third season of Reaper which is cheaper and more known, and CC when they got futurama didn't want the original voice actors at first due to the cost. don't expect other networks to ever do things for the fans unless they see that many fans, the only reason futurama got it was because of CN and the fans it got from running on that channel.
Just to point out: It was never explained how George didn't lose her memories when she shared then with Reggie in the movie like she did in Season 1...
@LaliaGreen The last 5 words, "Kélé, filla, saba, nani, norou", are Agni, as spoken in Ivory Coast, where the lead vocal Aïda of the group Métisse came from. The words literally mean "1, 2, 3, 4, 5".
The only way to really "kill" the reapper would have been throwing him to another ghost's Heaven, as happened to the female reapper before Daisy. It would've fitted more with the series.
two seasons weren't enough, but the movie was an unwelcomed surprise... it sucked : the storyline was really blur, Rube wasn't here, Daisy's character played by a new one (who sucked all the way)... And you can't kill an undead person, even in choping and buring him... really, it wasn't DLM anymore.. a shame. I would have prefered remember DLM as it finished on season II...
My ONLY two problems with this movie actually was what they did to the male Reaper, he annoyed me with how he didn't even remind me of him from the show, he was one of my favorite characters. I was moderately displeased with her sister, but she did grow up some. Despite the bad rap it's getting, I liked this movie! JUST watched it a minute ago!
I'm surprised anyone even noticed. People're freaking over this movie, when she's not even the main character. Z / I'd understand if they did it Milly, I'd be like. "Well I'm going back to my room..", but if it wasn't for someone else in said room SAYING that she had her actress changed, I wouldn't have ever noticed. Which is very sad, but I'm not a fan of her to begin with, I still thought she was in character however~
So the show's final words went from being "I guess it's not so bad, being dead like me." to "I am so fucked." Does this bug the shit out of anyone else?
@WackdProductions George says that because she doesn't really want the responsibility of being head reaper for two reasons. One is she just doesn't want it, the other is because the others would be very ticked off to find out the youngest among them is now their de facto leader.
@Aracknia I get why she says it, but the fact stands that "I guess it's not so bad, being dead like me" are a lot better last words than "I am so fucked".
Well, her last words as a living person were " Aww shit"...
Still, I did like the last words for the second season. They seemed rather fitting for an ending, whereas "I'm so fucked" seem more appropriate for a continuation.
Who knows... maybe there's hope for a little "life after death" for a TV series about life after death... ;-)
@tsolorio3001 They'd face a copyright lawsuit from Mary Tyler Moore and with MGM's financial state they'd probably go bankrupt just settling it out of court.
I didn't entirely get the ending to the movie (which I honestly didn't like very much), someone told me that all the post-it's falling from the sky around George meant she was the new leader-person for the rag tag group of reapers.
It would be typical if it turned out those post-it's were for everyone in the area because the plane that dropped them was about to crash land. That would definitely suit this show AND her last comment XD.
I loved the series!! The movie was terrible :( the actor for Daisy was not the same!! :( but I feel that they should make another season..I wish they did it was sooo great...or atleast remake the movie with the right actor lol
Ok everyone, the show got cancelled after two seasons and the follow-up movie was trashed by plot holes, bad writing and characters who were either replaced or missing all together. Even though I was a fan as well, I think its time we all moved on.
Movie did kinda suck. The scene in the first minute of this video was beautiful though :)
I loved the series, even though rewatching now and looking at the change when Fuller left it's a big change... But I still liked it... Right from the start, even when I was 14 years old, I really connected with George as a character and I still do rewatching season 1 now.
Since they replaced Rube they should've just replaced Daisy too instead of just recasting her.
I didn't watch the series consistently SADLY :'( and like other series that I've come to find in this world late its over and I'm too late to be a voice to say anything but I loved when it caught me off guard and i was just into it I wanted so much more of it but no its done...heart broken. :'(
the ending was bad, because it's overdone and it was random. George's reveal to Reggie was bad, "who are u?" "i'm George lass" and i'll prove it by telling u secrets that only i would know. We've all seen that kind of reveal done before on other shows and movies. through out the series George crosses paths with Reggie many times, and in the last episode she sees George at the cemetery, so i expected Reggie to recognize her. the show was a smart comedy, and i loved it, but the movie was bad.
And why wasn't rube in it? that i hated, it was a bit vague though, i am guessing that hotshot killed rube in the dinner fire, only guessing, maybe not but, it was disappointing like it had no direction almost, well i am glad they made it anyway, they did show what happens and i am glad Reggie and her mom got the hell outta dodge i wish them luck
I'm pretty sure there were only 28 episodes in total, but I agree that many of them were worth crying over. Will Bryan Fuller's brilliance forever go unnoticed?!
George is so melancholy but what else can you be as a Reaper. This is the perfect music for DLM. The recent movie was a bit of a disappointment. I miss Daisy, Daisy Adiar.
@arturo656b yeah, the new one i spent like half the movie forgetting she was Daisy, Daisy Adiar. and the rest wondering why they didn't get the real one
Having peanut become post it Queen is fitting. She was becoming like her Mother Joy regarding organizational skills & filing. Remember when she told Rube a better method for organizing his system.
bought the dvd today. I liked it a lot. Despite not liking the loose end with Rube. Kind of mysterious Der Waffle haus burning down and Rube's sudden disapearence. It was explained away by new boss that he got his lights, but new boss was not exactly a reliable source. Wonder why they didn't show it. Anyway, I really liked the movie.
@silenthillman1 I was dissapointed how they let all the characters backslide for the comedy except for George. Mason and Daisy were two very sad characters that had a lot of issue and in the movies, they were chipper fucks
I agree, was disapointed in that too. I think George backslid too, just differently than the others. I think the series ending and the outcome of the movies was a sad ending. Kind of a sad goodbye.
@silenthillman1 Well her backsliding I think matched the story. She was always reluctant to show herself to her family, but a lot of that was because rube. without rube, that wall that kept her from involving herself more with her family, especially her sister whom she had so many regrets about, was gone and she as left to fall prey to her own desires with that one.
No ratings = no show isn't always true, 1) the show was on showtime it isn't going to get a main stream audience there, 2) When showtime was questioned about the shows ratings they pretty much showed that they had no idea what they were talking about, 3) The show being on hulu really bumped up its popularity again so hopefully they pick up more dvds
Saw the movie today. Makes me wonder if george was to lead reapers or if the post-its weren't a sign that she has more work to do because she broke the rules with her sister by telling her identity, thus interfering in her life. (an egregious violation) That led to her family leaving town. the ripple effect could be massive.
There is a movie out now, I think it was made last year. reggie is grown and looks great, Mom is gone, daisy is changed. New boss too that gives out assignments( real asshole). They tied him up. george told Reggie the truth, reggie wanted to go live with her, but george said she could not do that.
LIFE'S NOT FAIR!!! why does ALL the GOOD shows get canceled!! and i don't mean dumb ass shows like Laguna Beach or Hannah Montana ( and if they still exist they need to get canceled quick! ) WE NEED THE GOOD SHOWS LIKE THIS BACK!!! that get canceled for no reason, writes strike ( always the excuse) or the other seasons need to stop sucking that people stop watching except hard core fans and then it gets canceled ! god! >=/
Not true, it was canceled supposedly because it didn't receive enough ratings to go on to season three. But no one really knows for sure, not even the actors.
@JustLetItBreath120 it's something that just happens without control. just look at the history of TV animation.
it started as some call it "animated radio shows" where very small budgets, ones even worse than the 1960s theater 10 minute shorts had to go 20+ minutes with the only decent one being the Flintstones.
by the 70s cartoons were "kids stuff only" and so many either just ran forever or didn't get more than one season. Until they saw the marketing potential it had.
Con't: so in the 80s everything while good or bad to the kids were made to sell toys. now up to this point you had series like Galaxy High which tried just being a good show with funny jokes and writing but the ratings were not there for it at the time and it failed.
so it took really big budgets, great writing and such all in one to break this and even now good shows like Cybersix, Spectacular Spiderman, ect. get canceled.
no matter how much TV and viewers grow good things end

You picked out the most terrible pictures of George. The show was awesome, the movie...eh.

I miss Daisy, Daisy Adiar.
arturo656b 2 years ago 3
@arturo656b yeah, the new one i spent like half the movie forgetting she was Daisy, Daisy Adiar. and the rest wondering why they didn't get the real one
bjam89 2 years ago
They ruined Daisy's character in the movie.

@coledabean Kind of difficult, as her character was pretty unlikeable in the first place.... but whatever. I'm just sad it didn't have Rube.

Having peanut become post it Queen is fitting. She was becoming like her Mother Joy regarding organizational skills & filing. Remember when she told Rube a better method for organizing his system.

i agree with Zec... PLUS the new Daisy looked nothing like the one from the show... so annoyed
floralfolly 2 years ago 3
I so agree. The old Daisy was the perfect face for the name Daisy Adair. The new one doesn't match the name.
tiffanidenisa 2 years ago 3
bought the dvd today.

ZoryaTwist 2 years ago
@silenthillman1 I was dissapointed how they let all the characters backslide for the comedy except for George. Mason and Daisy were two very sad characters that had a lot of issue and in the movies, they were chipper fucks
Zecdra 2 years ago 4
I agree, was disapointed in that too. I think George backslid too, just differently than the others. I think the series ending and the outcome of the movies was a sad ending. Kind of a sad goodbye.
silenthillman1 2 years ago 4
@silenthillman1 Well her backsliding I think matched the story. She was always reluctant to show herself to her family, but a lot of that was because rube. without rube, that wall that kept her from involving herself more with her family, especially her sister whom she had so many regrets about, was gone and she as left to fall prey to her own desires with that one.
That's how I see it anyway xp

no ratings = no show
silenthillman1 2 years ago
No ratings = no show isn't always true, 1) the show was on showtime it isn't going to get a main stream audience there, 2) When showtime was questioned about the shows ratings they pretty much showed that they had no idea what they were talking about, 3) The show being on hulu really bumped up its popularity again so hopefully they pick up more dvds

Wow I totally didnt get the ending until I read the comments. Thats cool, that Georgia is now in charge of the reapers
Tgreenboy 2 years ago
Saw the movie today. Makes me wonder if george was to lead reapers or if the post-its weren't a sign that she has more work to do because she broke the rules with her sister by telling her identity, thus interfering in her life. (an egregious violation) That led to her family leaving town. the ripple effect could be massive.
silenthillman1 2 years ago 4
that film has been out for ages
random2009edition 2 years ago
There is a movie out now, I think it was made last year. reggie is grown and looks great, Mom is gone, daisy is changed. New boss too that gives out assignments( real asshole). They tied him up. george told Reggie the truth, reggie wanted to go live with her, but george said she could not do that.

it was canceled because the staff and actors couldnt get along and everyone was miserable.
zophory 2 years ago
Not true, it was canceled supposedly because it didn't receive enough ratings to go on to season three. But no one really knows for sure, not even the actors.
hurlyn88 2 years ago 2
@JustLetItBreath120 it's something that just happens without control. just look at the history of TV animation.
it started as some call it "animated radio shows" where very small budgets, ones even worse than the 1960s theater 10 minute shorts had to go 20+ minutes with the only decent one being the Flintstones.
by the 70s cartoons were "kids stuff only" and so many either just ran forever or didn't get more than one season. Until they saw the marketing potential it had.
Con't
BrokenFWD 1 year ago
Con't: so in the 80s everything while good or bad to the kids were made to sell toys. now up to this point you had series like Galaxy High which tried just being a good show with funny jokes and writing but the ratings were not there for it at the time and it failed.
so it took really big budgets, great writing and such all in one to break this and even now good shows like Cybersix, Spectacular Spiderman, ect. get canceled.
no matter how much TV and viewers grow good things end
Cont
BrokenFWD 1 year ago
Con't: and now you get shows on TV like Bones, House, and Lost. the first two rely on a formula to keep going and the last ran really long.
this is because unless everyone on the team doesn't care about the money and it can't work a series can't end if it does well.
BrokenFWD 1 year ago
yeah
