I really can't understand the motive behind your postings. We have both fast food restaurants and more typical Pakistani restaurants.If some children and young people want fast food, that is their choice.Yes educated Sialkotis understand that fast food is unhealthy and only consumed by poor people in the West but ultimately people make their own choices. I am happy if you believe you have a better life than us Pakis. Pakis like me are thankful to God that we have a homeland and a beautiful city to call our own- Sialkot. Whatever it is- it is our pride and joy. Any shortcoming in our home town is our shortcoming and Sialkotis the world over should take up the challenge to uplift our dear city. At one time we were the fabled Sakala of Alexander the Great's Eastern Empire. We were one of the most famous centres of learning in the Mughal Empire.
May I ask why you are laughing? Are you laughing when you see young people in Paris order a "Royale avec fromage" at the Paris McDonalds or order a Big Mac at the London McDonalds? What about the hundreds of McDonalds across the US? Do you laugh every time someone orders fast food from a McDonalds? If you must know, my kids like to eat fast food now and then and I do take them to McDonalds occasionally. In Sialkot we understand it isn't healthy food nor anything special. As for being served in Punjabi- just to let you know I have been served in Punjabi and throughout Sialkot we can be served in our own language if we so desire.The Sialkoti dialect of Punjabi is very sweet and melodious. We can recognize someone from our district my the distinct use of certain words and their pronunciation.

Yes there are a number of fast food restaurants in Sialkot and my kids enjoy junk food at times- this is not unique to Pakistan nor is it unique to the world. You'll hear the same refrain from Europeans and even from a great number of Americans too. You are mistaken to say that we can't be served in our native tongue. I speak pure Punjabi with a typical Sialkoti accent. I have been served in Punjabi and most educated Sialkotis enjoy speaking their native language along with other languages.
Ours is a trilingual society . Punjabi is our mother language and language of our ancestors. Urdu is language of integeration and English: every body knowsthe importance of English . We should maintane a balance while using these languages but unfotunately and for the reasons still unknown parents are deliberately cganging their mother tongue which is harmfully distubing this balance and endangering our mother tongue. My Sialkot desrves due credit for saving from gradual extintion

For your information in the US poor whites and poor african americans all go to McDonald's, Wendys, KFC and fast food restaurants in general because they provide cheap food. Most educated and health conscious Americans don't eat there. You will clearly see that the majority of folks who frequent such establishments in the US are low income and on average have less education. This is fact. You may be correct in saying that saying some uneducated Pakistanis with money may think of Western fast food as some type of cool fad but the fact remains that educated people in Pakistan are as educated as those in the US and avoid it

I didn't see McDonalads the last time I went to Sialkot. I'm not a big fan of junk food anyhow- I prefer the local cuisine over fast food. I suppose the less educated people love stuffing themselves with high caloric saturated fats but those of us who are more health conscious will stick to more organic fare. I think that McDonald's , KFC, Wendys and many fast food chains are expanding into developing countries since fewer people in the West are eating their food.
