  • If I recall correctly, there are a few scenes in the film, where you can only see the back of Hicks, in which its James Remar, not Michael Biehn acting.

  • Thants!

  • 8:13 RON JEREMYS BROTHER LOL

  • 1:34 "And give Jim exactly what he wanted, which... our first DP did not feel comfortable"

What does the production of this film have to do with her sexlife? lol

  • @thedevo01 HAHA

  • @thedevo01 "The chemistry between Jim and dick didn't work..."

  • @mjollner23 1:43 "dick bush" lol this documentary is filled with sexual references!

  • The documentaries on these films are great because they actually discuss the sometimes insurmountable creative tensions behind each production. Such a refreshing change from the "oh, he was great, this was great, that was great" puff-pieces that usually pass for "Making of's".

  • Get some gloves! Haha I love Jim Cameron but he has his faults too and I can understand he can be dislikable in a tense environment whereas Ridley would be calmer and still get great results.

  • We got knives,sharp sticks!

  • James Remar was the original Hicks. He played the psycho Ganz in the film 48 Hours.

  • @HailAnts And he was Dutch Schulz in The Cotton Club.

  • @HailAnts Thanks for the info...do you know why he was replaced?

  • @diuga1 Depends on who you ask. Some reports say he & Cameron just didn't see eye to eye about the Hicks character, others just say that Remar left for personal reasons unrelated to the film. Either way I have a hard time picturing mean, villian-faced Remar (instead of baby-face Biehn) in the sympathetic role of Hicks...

  • @HailAnts Thank you, Ants!

  • When they said alien they meant illegal alien.

  • Stop your grinnin and drop your linen.

  • @tubenachos I'd like to butter your muffin

  • Can't remember his name but the guy who played Richard on Sex and the City was the first Hicks, and I just KNOW he kicks himself everytime he hears the word "alien".

  • With those things runnin' around? you can count ME out.

  • @sixamsedna Well, I guess we can just count you out of everything, huh Hudson?

  • @firmingitup That's right, man. Unless *you* go, man.

  • 2:52- yeah, it is SUCH a drag when people tell you the truth in the better interests of the project instead of just mouthing bullshit their bosses want to hear.

  • 2 people didnt get any gloves.

  • when he played Reese and Hicks Michael Biehn's first name in those movies was similarly insignificant

  • Michael Biehn is one of the most underrated actors of all time.

  • @Mike8901000 You sure? He's really good at playing a sketchy tweaked out motherfucker.

  • @PROTOCON85 underrated is a good thing. And I think you are thinking of bill paxton.

  • Its realy cool to see these actors age thru time. :P

  • hicks and hudson are the best

  • @ghostrecon420

What is it Hicks? "I'm Hudson sir, he's Hicks" .. What is it private?

  • @sornan005 this going to be a stand up fight sir or another bug hunt

  • 18 million for a master piece 100 million battle LA shows far hollywood has fallen

  • @gary1632 U$18 000 000 in 1986 is probably U$100 000 000 nowadays (due to infaltion)

  • @supafrozty dont forget about "The Abyss"

  • damn Michael Bien is like the unsung hero of sci-fi with terminator and aliens

  • Stan Winston the father of predator (rasta lizert warrior...) what a genius r.i.p.

  • dick bush is the best name ever

  • wonder who the original 'actor's name was, that got let go, and that Beihn Replaced? notice in this vid, no mention of any 'names'. how courteous of them.....lol! still, be good trivia to know who it was. famous guy? english? American? no one worthy of mention? hmmm...........

  • @drumdude46 It was James Remar I'm pretty sure.

  • @drumdude46 Yeah, it was James Remar, who's probably most famous for being in Dexter these days.

Apparently he was playing Hicks with way too much hardness and intensity, so Cameron replaced him.

  • Where is this documentary from?

  • I'm five minutes in and all they been saying is that the lighting guy is a Dick and should do what he's told. :|

  • Call me when you got some gloves

  • @tommybuurt

Damn, he gets what he want! Fired the lighiting guy and now the gloves! :P

  • Who did Biehn replace?

  • @WalterLiddy James Remar

  • FFS, just say he was a cunt.

  • 1:36 OUR FIRST DP DIDN´T FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING ... WTF?

  • 1:36 SHE SAID DP, AHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Yes, that was childish, sue me.

  • Cant believe that nobody mentioned the fact she admitted that her first DP wasn't comfortable..LOL

  • The hard work of all the people involved, really showed with the outcome! The best of all "Alien" sequel movies and one of the best alien generated movies of all time...the 'glue' of all this, due to his persistence for excellence, was of course the Director James Cameron.

  • One of the best, if not the best sci-fi movie of all time. Thankfully it's finally on Blu-Ray !

  • Would someone please upload this movie to u tube

  • I dont get it... why do the keep calling James Cameron "Jim" ?

  • @MrJayCudmore You serious? Jim is the nickname for James. Like Bill from William. Drew from Andrew. etc.

  • I'd rather work with a 'demanding' director with a clear vision that with a limp idiot who doesn't know what he's doing. Like I currently am.

  • Wow! Ron Jeremy worked as a minature effects supervisor on ALIENS. Another reason to love this movie!

  • @mrsoundtrack hahahahahahahahahahhahaha

  • 3:10 This guy's the only rational person in Hollywood. Listen to that laugh- he's had it with actors.

  • @blondehacker

It's a deleted scene included in the extras on the Bluray anthology set.

  • Is this video in the Alien Anthology box set?

  • is it just me, or does michael biehn die in almost every single film he's in?

  • @SmokenAces I've noticed that

  • demanding director = wonderful movie

  • @mrptysonboy A director just has to know what he wants the movie to look like. I don't think it's a bad thing that he's known as a "hardass" director. He knows what he wants and he'll get it!

  • @Robin360

Agreed. I've never worked a job where I was able to 'override' what was wanted by the manager/owner. I highly doubt the director was controlling the actors every move, containing a vision and attempting to maintain it is fine imo, but in retrospect any director must also be prepared to at least minuetely adjust things according to how the actors naturally behave in various scenes, and I'm sure he did that. Being demanding is fine imo, and look how it turned out..

  • is this on dvd?

  • I get the impression that Cameron is a real basterd to work with.

  • @Staff777

Finishing a movie is like a war... so they said.

Anyway, this making of footage is from the Alien Quadrilogy boxset that you can buy for cheap these days.

  • Loved Michael Biehn in the Terminator and here. He's intense. Why hasn't he been in more A-movies in A-roles? Shame on many big directors not thinking of him.

  • @YouriCarma

He was considered for the role of Miles Quaritch in Avatar, but since Sigourney Weaver had already been cast, James Cameron avoided casting as he didn't want to recreate the cast of Aliens. Stephen Lang got the part instead. Ironically, Stephen Lang had auditioned for the role of Dwayne Hicks in Aliens, but lost it to Michael Biehn. And you never know, we may see Michael show up in the next Avatar movie.

  • Every time I watch this and the way Michael Biehn says, "this is fucking bullshit...bring me something that fucking looks right" I just laugh my ass off!! That is great stuff! And I thought the same thing about Ron Jeremy, I was like..."WTF??!!"

  • 18 mil to make aliens! good lord. I wonder how much it made?

  • @propjam2

    $131,060,248

  • @xand3rro thanks man. WHAT A PROFIT MARGIN!

  • Had no idea that Ron Jeremy was a Miniature effects Supervisor AND a famous pornstar. (08.12)

  • michael biehn is so hot!

  • Biehn is a dude. He makes me laugh.

  • What's cool about Michael Biehn is that he has this all-american look and voice. And this really shines when he plays a soldier. He looks like everybody's military relative, that so it becomes so believable.

  • Oh god michael biehn is so hot in this movie

  • whoa! I just read that too about james remar being replace due to creative differences with jim cameron. Sucks for ajax. I guess Swan was right about him, he never was that smart!

  • so im guessing the director passed away? if he did bless his soul

  • @gokin239 The director was James Cameron, who just made a little film called "Avatar"...

  • The guy was called DICK BUSH??? omfg thats severe xD

  • Didn't know Ron Jeremy also worked as miniature effects supervisor, haha! ;)

  • @Nickolaars - holy crap, he looked just like him! Good call.

  • @Nickolaars Haha! theres nothing miniature about Ron Jeremy

  • very depressing seeing Michael over the eyers

  • "Get some gloves and call me when youre ready." WOah, someones been working alot!

  • @nils4545 Yeah seriously. Dickhead much, Jim?

  • does anybody know who was originally meant to play hicks?

  • @LukaRaPtoR James Remar

  • @SigmaXVirus thanks

  • @SigmaXVirus Fuck a Duck! I've just wiki'd him and its 'Ajax' from 'The Warriors' Ha awesome. He would have made a good hicks but Im glad Beihn ended up with the part anyway.

  • i will buy some rights do wut fans want and bring everyone even if they are in a fucking wheelchair and that won`t be a problem just strap some fuckin pulserifles to it and rock` n roll

  • and them hudson showing is face at some part of the movies out of know were saying there they get them

  • avatar piss of crap, i would better see all that money put on aliens the next part and see 10 foot aliens running around hunting marines

  • RIP Stan Winston.

  • James Remar was the actor that Biehn replaced...Remar didn't see eye to eye with Cameron over his character (for whatever reason)...it definitely worked out though as Biehn is as fine a character actor as there was in the 80's and 90's (especially in the sci-fi/action stuff) both "Hicks" and "Reese" are the characters most people know him for.

  • No one will remember Avatar the same way we do Aliens. Cameron was great as a director in his youth, but now he couldn't direct himself out of the Toilet.

  • @blade004

only cameron could of pulled off avatar and in my opinion it will go down in history!

  • @apj5454 In my humble opinion, technology pulled Avatar off which overlaid a mediocre story and plot.

  • @apj5454 fern gully is better than avatar

  • @blackledge81k fern gully was cool

  • @44eelz mostly

  • @blackledge81k

haha riiiight? yes the 'story' has been done many times in different ways but only Cameron in my opinion could have pulled off this technology to such amazing effect? i used to HATE CGI in films... but Avatar is something else?!

  • @blade004 >>>>I thought Avatar was good but lacked the characters that Aliens had. This is something the original Alien movie had as well and made you connect with these people. Avatar had some awesome effects and ideas but didn't have that character connection...I really didn't care about the Navi if their big tree was tore down.

  • @blade004 You must be confusing screen writing with directing because James Cameron is just as brilliant today as he was when he made Aliens. His technical abilities and sense of pacing in Avatar is on par with Aliens, if not more so.

  • @Xenda You are right really, after watching Avatar again it really is a brilliant movie ;)

  • Should have stuck with Dick Bush by the sound of it. Jim's vision was piss poor.

  • See that Oscar on the mantle back there......BOSS

    !!

  • "It's hot as hell in here, man." oh, it's just hicks.

  • i skip all the parts with David Giler's talking, it's just the way he talks, it's so boring

  • It was James Remar who was originally cast, then Biehn took over.

  • man i miss the time where they talked about "Special effects", they don't have any special effect anymore

  • @EmotionalShredd yes now its all about CGI. No models, no puppets, no animatronics.

  • I wonder who's role Michael took over for Hicks.

  • @Dmasterman James Remar...probably best known for playing" Ajax" in "The Warriors"....he's a pretty well known character that you've probably seen in many movies playing a cop or a bad guy

  • @vardiss22

These days people are likely to know him best as Dexter's father in all the flashback scenes.

  • Damn...I just love the smart guns Vasquez and Drake use.

  • all aliens are good!

  • @Balasekcn E.T. Might Grubble w His Parking Tickets . . . :)

  • Michael Biehn has a so good smile! And I don't know you, but when I see this smile I smile too!

  • @4fan91 micheal was a woman's hero in the 80's.

  • @EmotionalShredd Nitted Pinc Sonjas Socks, And Had A Smile . . . Hoh, T-88 Will Appear , Dont Worry . . .

  • @AlftqhRoussfe lol, what do you mean?????

  • @EmotionalShredd Did Respònd EmotioinalShredder . . Ànd Bè-Bòp Mìght Aswell Appeàr Then . . . :=)

  • @EmotionalShredd Ehh, Total Recall . . . JOHNNY o`Conner . . . Kyle Nead`s NONE ! ! !

  • @AlftqhRoussfe Cameron Has A Hefty HàngÒver HàirCoàm, So:

A Terminator WILL Appeàr 2 Stretqh A Predatòrs Dodic Foòt Into Jòhnny Ràmbò`s Mud-Pit, While Apòllo Creèd Will Cnock Sense Into The Rest Of Whatever Hòstile Creàtqhure, Thàt Mìght Appeàr . . .

Ànd The Hefty Spàce Còwbòys, R Ceèping Things Calm In Outer Spàce. While Officer Ripley Smacks The Rest Òf The Impòsers, In "Spàce".

Finally, PoliceMan Johnny McClàne Solves The Arrest Òf Sneak Away Aliens...

    So Johnny O`conner Càn Relacs . . .

  • Camera man got owned!

  • I have seen alien 4 and it is not even worth watching 3 was ....ok but yes the first and second are as good as each other but two different films with regards to plot, I cant wait to see the prequel.

  • What can I say about Aliens - incomparable masterpiece, the Best Action of the 80's and one of the best films ever made. I can't believe Sigourney Weaver didn't win the Oscar. She was absolutely brilliant. Anyway all the actors did a great job, visual effects were just WOW. It was like NON-STOP ACTION.

Best films were in the 80's and 90's. I miss that time.

  • AGREED

  • @ViolaXZ I could not agree with you more! One of the best sci-fi in my option

  • alien 3 was good 4 sucked and the first 2 were the best

  • How ironic - he has a Hurt Locker :)

  • i hate how fox entertainment rushes there flim's

  • Hudson is the ultimate badass

  • Has anybody else noticed that all but one of the Aliens, Predator, and AVP movies end with a massive explosion?

Alien, Aliens, Alien Resurrection, Predator, Predator 2, AVP, AVP R.

  • this movie is awsome the rest is shit house

  • What?!

Alien was a groundbreaking horror film. It was like jaws in space. It scared the living shit out of everyone who saw it back then. There was just nothing like it before.

Aliens was MOTHER FUCKING BADASS, and my personal favorite.

Alien 3 wasn't bad. It wasn't the best, but it was damn good.

Alien Res. would have been a lot better if not for the stupid genetic splicing/ xenomorphRiply shit.

The Alien franchise certainly isn't a "shit house". In fact they are even making an Alien 5.

  • @Rhonda9001 I have to agree with you 100% with what you just wrote. Thank you.

  • How could you say that? Even though i love ALIENS and is my favorite, ALIEN is very good as well! Its very suspenseful, original, and amazing. Alien 3 is mediocre however, and i haven't watched Alien ressurection yet xD

  • RIP Stan Winston

  • @scr4pp7 i second that.....A LEGEND!

  • i can see that jim cameron might be bit of an ass hole to work with but he certainly knows how to get results

  • Ooh God Mike's so handsome! He's also so funny! lmao

  • I totally agree! Where is Michael Beihn? Dude was a good actor and had the look. Screw these pretty boys.

  • Michael Biehn is so underrated, it makes me sad how disposable people make him; he's a fantastic actor, hands down.

  • Mike is simply kick butt in the casting for the flick. Spot on!

  • "Wasn't terribly convincing"

Haha. I wish Michael Beihn was in avatar. He was almost gonna be, but Stephen Lang is in the role, which is equally good I guess

  • Michael Biehn is a total dude.

  • So epic cant wait for AVATAR only a month left.
