  • beautiful... very good film

  • I want to do this so badly that I can taste it.

  • Bloody amazing video, i love the music, love the flying, love the quality .. ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS I HAVE SEEN ON YOUTUBE !

    What music was it ?

  • It's ok. Not spectacular, but ok.

  • looks green screened

  • the best video i have ever seen TOP!

  • its like a whole new world up in the clouds!!

  • 1:45 nice :)

  • almost makes me cry. thank you....

  • looks amazing

  • @nanaimo757 The movie was (IMAX) "Stormchasers".

  • To those that do not understand soaring in the clouds let me give you a hint. Read the FAR's it is allowed. Certain requirements need to be meet. Enough about that.

This video is from NASA's flights (at slow speed, hence the use of a glider) to collect cloud particles and droplet size at various heights and development.

The glider is a SGS 2-32 (three seater) with the required flight and scientific equipment for the research.

    This wasn't dangerous or illegal.

  • @jwhoneycomb , Edit: I meant NCAR not NASA. Also, in addition, they were studying lightning over the Boulder, Colorado area in "29J" (the aircraft) piloted by Bruce Miller.

  • The SGS is a two seater, I think there is only one glider in the world, which has tree seats.

  • Wrong. 68 to 82 (depending on your source) where built and still fly today. Including this one. All are certified three seat gliders. I've flown 5 different SGS 2-32's over the years with over 450 flights in make and model.

  • Yes, have just read it in a forum, sorry. But could you tell me please why most of the SGS 2-32 are two seaters, is it possible to built in a third seat, or is this one a special exemplar?

  • All SGS 2-32 are three (3) seaters. That doesn't prevent you from flying one in the back seat (that would be really roomy with just one) instead of two. (The front seat only holds one and the back seat position holds two, small, passenger's. You tend to run out of room before weight carrying capacity in the 2-32.) The 2-32 should not be confused with the 2-33, which is a two seater trainer. Most 2-32's are used for glider ride operations and not available for rent.

  • OK, thank you :-)

  • It's about the sun dying (:

  • I love this vid in HD!

  • Pretty cool, but where did you find the HD version?

  • awesome, Cunim mother of all clouds(h)

probably the best vid ive seen on youtube

  • Beutiful best video on youtube of gliding.Nice.Flying is nicer sport in the world

  • Music is from 'Sunshine' soundtrack.

  • BEEEUTIFUL!!! Excellent video....please do more glider videos!!! You are the BEST on You Tube!

    Carmen :-)

  • Tell us about the IFR flight plan you needed to fly thr glider in the clouds. Then again, ATC might ask you to enter a holding pattern...

  • You're right... none glider can go inside clouds. The video is pretty awsome, though!

A big dangerous film, but, still amazing, doesn't it?

    regards!

  • I have been with glider in the cloud meny times!

  • This is really beautiful, it makes a change for me to watch this, instead of a spitfire or vulcan video. One of the most beautiful youtube videos i have seen, well done sonic bomb.

    5 BIG stars

    :)

  • Thankyou. Feel free to watch the large high quality version on my site.

  • Wow, this is almost unnatural, is this for real, what is the purphose of all the tubes and stuff in the sailplane, strange stuff indeed and nice looking. And I know all about sailplanes hawing flown them for 25 years. I have been in the clouds like the video, that is a must for every lifetime.

  • The pods contain atmospheric testing equipment.

  • Beautiful! 5/5
