Also, not every Republican is a racist, sacreligious, arrogant southerner... I happen to have grown up right around Dartmouth college, but coincidentally I am living in the south these days. Point of my two comments being that the majority of political discussion online bash the Republican party for a list of steriotypes that it has received over time. Many of them deeply exaggerated. I'm surprised that Laissez Faire has not been mentioned in any discussions of the economy. I say we revolt.

I'm a Republican, and I support gay marriage, I don't believe the government should make us give our money as free handouts to those who will not put forth the effort to better theirselves. Charity is out of the kindness of the heart, the government taking & passing out our money is simply bullying. I support marijuana decriminalization, and support the right to bear arms and freedom of speech. I do not hate America, but the corrupt government it's come to be. - A sensible, educated 17 year old.

Actually, that's exactly free capitalism. Companies are free to roam and again control of most if not all infrastructures without any government control.
Capitalism can work well only when government controls the actions of the market, generally that's called socialism.
For both people and companies to work in harmony we need both free but not limitless capitalism. Again that's called socialism.
It's that today's capitalism has nothing to do with the French first idea

@Sybok123 capitalism is the system by which investors get to keep the rights to the profits and means of production; this creates a class of people who stay at the top no matter what happens. Sadly, corruption is a very well know fact of this system. Believe it or not, there were guys pointing this out just a few years after the French Revolution.
If you think it'd be fair for workers to have the right to vote on how they'd wish to spend the profits, you believe in socialism.
