So overall it's still pretty desolate and empty with very few if any people around. Make sure if you go, go in the Winter as in Summer apparently you can't see half the buildings because the forrest of trees start to conceal them from view, which I suppose has its own lure in that it shows how nature is reclaiming the city but, I'm an architect and appreciate more the view of the crumbling soviet architecture of this dead city.
Although there are a few 'tours' of up to 13 people, which I think they go like twice a week... specially booked by intereted groups. When I went me and my friend couldn't find a tour so we hired a car and driver specially to go. I'm not sure how much we're supposed to be there though as it seemed a proportion of the £200 each for one day was going partially towards paying guards, not sure though as they do have special facilities on site for visitors.
@Videomakera Because I understand how radioactive isotopes function, and that area isn't glowing hot w/ radiation any more. You can actually spend a few hours there and be okay. There are ~ 1000 people still working at Chernobyl while they go through the decommissioning process (scheduled to end ~ 2034). Its nowheres near as bad as it was a week after meltdown. Most radiation levels decay 50% within days or weeks.
yes they probly do and then dump the problem on the ukranians. russia has not offered tohelp ukrain in the clean up and building the sarchopugus (the iron shield)and neither the UN has offered so ukrain has to fix something it wasnt fully responsible for
@youfuckingtossers Well, at least they dont start two world wars and explode two cities with the nuclear bombs.. :/ We all got our shit.. humans do stuff you know, its our nature..

Carton2341 1 year ago
@Carton2341 You are joking right? This was a nuclear meltdown at a power station - it was an accident and had nothing to do with bombs.
