Michael Moore is an complete idiot. If he knew ANYTHING about economics he would know that the wealthy became wealthy because they worked hard. He would also know that a wealthy class is necessary for the prosperity of of capitalistic society.

You have two kind of economies. Trickle down economics (The one we use as the wealthiest nation per capita and overall in the world, by a long shot), or trickle up poverty (the kind the USSR used).

Why is a 3% tax increase on the rich class considered "socialism", but a 14% pay cut on the middle class is called "doing your part?"

Because the gov didn't listen when people said don't give anyone a bailout. Even with all of it's problems, the US system is still one of the better systems for creating wealth.

@manizcaray The Scandinavian system from how you describe it here seems like how we are today. And the reason you don't tax the rich at a high percentage is because of the stock market. Read some about how it works. People with money invest in people who want to make money and make money off of the dividends. When you put high taxes on that it discourages investing, meaning the rich actually do sit on their money instead of investing. High taxes do the opposite of their intent.
