I dont know about this becuase the real keyboard instruments have anywhere from 65 to 88 keys so you cant compare and by playing an instrument without taking lesons you are re-enforcing bad habbits in playing technique.

Both franchises are going to do very well this year. RB3 in real instruments but GH:WOR has an unbelievable setlist and there was a leak that GH Metallica is going to export. Thye wanted to focus on guitar in GH:WOR and what better way than to have the kings of metal.
EXCELLENT point Cena, I have been ridiculed my entire life for playing video games because they are "not real," or was told I should have spent my time learning the real instrument. You put it perfectly though, and finally the pro mode will allow us to shut all the naysayers up :)
I completely agree. Rock band never did teach anyone to play real guitar, but it helped me tremendously in the aspect of speed and strength in my fingers. Now the new promodes are going to step it up a notch. Also has anyone heard if u can use your own equipment like own guitar/keyboard?
I think that rockband came out and guitar hero is now just a wannabe rockband. Rockband has the better game play with promode and all that but if you look at gh6 s setlist sofar it has way better songs than rb3.

how do you hook up the hi hat pedal with the ion drum set ...i wonder if you will just be able to use a Y cable to hook up the 2 pedals cause when you order the pro pedal on the ion site it comes with a Y cable
@yoyoman2k1 Now that there is no double bass charting, a splitter not a Y splitter should work. If you use a Y splitter, then you have to release on pedal before you can depress the other for it to register. So you would want to to buy the one from Ion or a Twin Rocker.

@ritchieboys If you want to play the real guitar chart in game and have it work right in the game yes. If you just want to play a long with you guitar no. However Harmonix has stated that there will be something to learn even for those you can already play guitar.

GH lost me when they tried copying Rock Band w/ their whole drum set idea. They made crappy drums, charted some of the songs wrong, made (IMO) a horrible drum set & they're always in Harmonix's shadow. They won't ever approach what Harmonix has done to the music-game industry.
Also, comparing GH & RB is like comparing Modern Warfare 2 & Battlefield Bad Company 2. One is an arcade-like game, the other is more of a realistic-shooter.
i completly agree with you. i couldn't keep a beat if my life depended on it before rockband. but then i played the drums, and went out and spent $1300 on a real drum set. and since then (like 3 years now) i'm in a band and we actually record and play. if it wasn't for the rock band drum set, i never would have been able to keep a beat. i also play bass too, just to let you know. i still can't sing, but i can cary a tune and i can keep up on the pitch. i'm so excited for the Keyboard!!!!!!
It will hurt GH a bit, but not KO it. I play both, and will continue to play both. I play Guitar Hero mostly now because of Metallica's version and my custom modified drum rocker made to work all 5 lanes on Guitar hero's drum tracks. I flip back for Rock Bands drum trainer, freestyle mode and it's much better setup on vocals. I wish they would make them more compatible with eachother, but hey, guy has to dream right? Can't wait to play both RB3 and the new Guitar Hero when it comes out.
Of course for all of us who know better, we understand that Harmonix is actually trying to share their love of music and get people to enjoy it as much as they do. I'm not going to say Neversoft doesn't feel the same way, but I've always preferred Harmonix's games to Neversoft's.

don't forget the ion is also a real drum set so you have real mic, real drums, real guitar, and real keyboard. So what makes it a real band? turning off the tv or just muting the sound from the game so all the sounds are from the people playing or is a real band only after you play in-front of people. really muting the game would make much like sheet music.

The release of three GH games in a 6 month span (GH:M - GH5) is what did Activision in and not RB3. They sold the game out, which angers me because they did such a good job on GH3. Its hard for a 17 year old like me to buy so many games in such a short amount of time. Activision failed to realize the audience they were reaching with their games: mostly kids under 18. It is not easy to buy so many games, which is why their sales went down. I'm not made of money. Activision did themselves in.
I don't see what the big deal is.The whole " my game is better than your game" is just stupid and down right childish.Both GAMES have their pro's and con's.I actually enjoy both GH and RB.You can all fight between youselves over which is the best game but in the end both games offer great things to play that you can have fun with.To me it's not about picking one over the other it's about enjoying the music that each has to offer........
@jjbb20 The thing is that this has been going on since the early days of the console. You will always have which game or company is better. This is because it all comes down to consumer dollars. Now of a year ago maybe this would not even be so deep. However being in the middle of a recession, people are going to spend their money on what they feel is the best. Some people will only be able to get one over the other, so this is why it is important for every company to put out their best.
@CenasCorner Yeah, i can see where that makes sense. I know i spent alot of money on both games and it was tough on my pocketbook. Depending on after i actually play RB3 i may just stick with RB because i can't keep shucking out $50-60 dollars every 6 months or so on new games for GH. The KO blow has been delivered. HMX said in that USA Today article they basically wanted to create the ultimate music game. We barely know a fraction of what is in this game, and even thus far I'd say they've already achieved that goal.

@Shacklrstwin True however Harmonix has had the rights to Bohemian Rhapsody before GH it seems. They released the Queen pack without it because of the keyboard in RB3. You have to remember who owns Harmonix the company now. Activision cannot compete with the catalog of music that is now available to Harmonix because of MTV.

i dont unerstand the people that say play a real instrument, i started off on rock band drums, when rb1 came out i loved played the drums for them, but a few months later when i could get on expert, i got a real drum kit, i have been playing real drums for 2 years, and i got a real life band, so im trying to say rb drums really do teach you how to play, the first day i got m drums, i was able to play in bloom, run to the hills, and numerous songs from rb.
Do you have any more info on pro mode? I'm really not understanding how they're going to make it more like playing a real instrument, so more info would be great!
For Keys, it sounds like it simply one step above Expert. For drums, those optional cymbal attachments for the RB2 and Beatles drums will now be required. Rounded gems will indicate that you hit a yellow/blue/green cymbal while the original rectangular gems are for the regular pads. Mad Catz is making a true guitar controller, and on screen, you'll have where to put your finger down like normal, but also a number to indicate which string you're supposed to pick.
All well & good including pro mode but you do forget that you need the pro instruments for this feature int the game to be of any use...well whats that i hear more money going down the the shute.I think at this point it would be a wiser investment pherhaps to invest in a real instrument rather than give in to that particular side of the game but all in all it is looking good,However as for this trying tobe the nail in the GH coffin i don't think so all be it looking like it's for 9yr olds.
@Fartnose55 That is wrong. The pro instruments are needed ONLY if you want to play pro mode. There are a lot of people who do not want to use that mode. However if you do and you cannot afford them right now, then you can use what you currently have. Again the guitar and keyboard are VERY REAL. you can plug the guitar into and amp and use it and it is also midi ready for a computer. The keyboard is also midi and can be used with your PC. I have a MAC so both will work in Garage band.
@CenasCorner Also if you have a real keyboard you just need the adapter which is about half the price of the controller. For me the keyboard was the main interment that interested me the most. So Rock Band 3 is the perfect opportunity for me.
RB3 is gonna have a simultaneous worldwide release just like The Beatles did. I guess Australians will get this before RB2, which is wierd. As for the Wii, it's more of the fact that the Wii is a hard console to work with. You'd have to take that one up with Nintendo.

Anyway, there is always the future to come. Of course RB3 now has the keyboard and all that junk, but you can't tell what Harmonix and Activision have in store for the future RB/GH franchises. I don't think GH is out. I imagine they will have quite a few suprises in store for future versions of the game.
YES! I was afraid to tell anyone I was kinda getting bored with Rock Band because I was feeling pretty bored mastering a plastic guitar. Now, I can actually play real instruments, and play a keyboard! Get a full Pro band, then you're practically playing the song live!
Thank you HMX for Backwards Compat!!!!!!!!!!!!! The keyboard looks soooo Clean and Polished. I love it. i've always wanted to to play real keyboard and RB3 will provide that just like how when I began to love drums cuz of RB1.
I hope this is the final blow, but Guitar Hero is too popular in Europe. EA/MTV will really have to up the ante with way more marketing than before, and of course ship the new instruments to countries other then the US and Canada. Major fail that the RB2 instruments never arrived here.
I think guitar hero has been crap since Guitar Hero World Tour, and I think Rock Band is going to be the top dog forever. I know I'm never going to buy another Guitar Hero game
As you said, Rock Band 3 is more of a real instrument synthesizer, Guitar Hero is more of a game. Rock Band 3 is moving towards real intruments. IONS work as synthesizer drumkit, and now the MIDI keyboard and the real/RB guitar by Fender, and Pro mode. Guitar Hero 6 is moving towards being a game, and is moving back towards more guitar based stuff with the Megadeth songs and Fury of the Storm.
But I'm behind you on the learn a real instrument stuff.
On your point of people always telling people that play Rock Band to play a real instrument, I actually can really relate to that. Way back in the days of Rock Band 1, I had never been behind a set. I would play drums all day every day, my friends would tell me to play real drums, and people at Best Buy would too. Then, I got a real set, learned to play, and now I'm one of the best at my high school. Truthfully, I would have never became a drummer if it weren't for Rock Band.
@sisco49SH Liking a company is fine and that is your opinion. HOwever what if I tell you that people in other games that the took over is complaining that it is beginning to suck now? One of these is considered to be one of the biggest games and most played in the world. I do not hate Activision, but it comes time for the real fans of Activision to start giving them feed back and stop telling them they are great when they are not right now. I don't say the lakers played great if they did not.
@ZZkahuna263 I am almost certain you will be able to. Imagine the people that would not be very happy if they could not. I would be one of them. I also know that in the past drums were HORRIBLE when they came with Rock Band. So bad it gave me this career and made a lot of people a TON of money. LOL However I think they have learned and will do everything to give us good quality stuff.
However, adding the keyboard is big plus, but like I said, I think "knock out blow" is unfair. It will open up to more genre's, and I would like to see Skynyrd in there now (RIP Billy Powell). Both games will fun, both are made entertainment purposes, but I think in no way will this end the GH franchise, nor will RB corner the market. GH has been around for twice as many years as RB, and it will take more than this for RB to totally have a monopoly on rhythm games. GH and RB will coexist.
RB3 and GH:WoR are going to be two totally two totally different games...I think more people buy the GH franchise games than others think. Each game has features that the others don't, and I actually think GH has the leg up on drums with Expert plus, but this Pro Mode seems interesting. Needless to say, both games will be fun. I think it is a little unfair to say Harmonix has given the "knock out blow".
The only thing RB STILL doesn't simulate is drums. The GHWT drums are better than any RB drums ever released. 2 raised cymbals and 4 rubber pads are better than 4 rubber pads that look like a cheap electric drum kit. Please, Cena, question Harmonix why they haven't made the drums more realistic if RB3 will try to teach us drums.
@calvins48 GH only has 3 pads and 2 cymbals (and one of the pads is for snare only, which limits tom patterns to two pads). RB3's Pro Mode integrates cymbals into the game, totaling four pads and three cymbals.
@calvins48 Don't have to as they did already in RB3, but you must keep two things in mind. 1. Harmonix did not want to give you anything to complicated to start out with. They knew they were making a game where everyone did not play drums as well. 2. Activision gave you the drumset they did because of the success of RB and what they cold do better. 3. Harmonix gave us the Ion from Ion Audio. You can get no more real than this. Plus activation on drums in GH is HORRIBLE!
@CenasCorner You have to also keep in mind that having a drum set is not all about pads and cymbals , but what the drummer makes it. There are some who only uses electronics and everything is pads. Some drummers play with one ride cymbal, one crash, a snare and three toms. Look at The Konks. He uses only one snare and a floor tom. So I think it is unfair to say RB drums are unrealistic, because they have you playing VERY realistic beats.

However, I personally play the GH drums with goodwoodmods mesh heads on RB2 .It makes for a great combo because I have to reach up to play the cymbals (at least one of them because the ride isn't supported in RB2). The drums would just feel that much better if I didn't have to combine a ride and crash with a floor tom. In GH:WT, the ride, crash and hih-hat actually feel like them. In RB2, they all feel like toms.

I honestly already know how to play keyboard, guitar, and drums. I'm worried that this game will entirely be revolved around learning the instruments and just playing to play will no longer be fun. Any ideas on this Cena cause I'm actually worried about this.

@DaNgiTsJosH I am thinking the Ions you will be able to use for sure. Also depending on what is on the new kit, you should be able just to add cymbals. However I am not sure but I will know and will report back when I find out at E3.
i still think that gh will be a forerunner in the music game industry. most people enjoy a wider hit window and more rock and roll whereas rock band cant realize that lady gaga is NOT rock. i still do like rb and alot of their songs, but i dont like the hit window. having to play over and over again to pass what a horrible night to have a curse because of an unforgiving hit window is not my type of game.
@GeraldLaird15 What Harmonix realizes that Activision does not is that someone in their 50's is not going to want to play metal. Kids that are not into metal is not going to want to play it either. Harmonix wants a full family experience, so they have to include music that crosses all genres. RB is very popular in bars. Ever ask yourself why GH is not?
cena i dont knkow if you want to talk about it or not but ive seen reports that guitar hero warriors of rock is suppose to be the last one in the series. so they might have deliver the ko that you talked about. so this could be right that gh is done
@mytownisnotyourtown2 Several reports and certain people at Activision have kind of lead on to this would be it for GH. Then like a week ago it comes out that there is a rumor that they are starting to work on GH7 and Band Hero 2 and 3. So I do not know for sure anymore only time will tell. However if they do not step up the game, they will be done because the consumers will say so.
ok the thing is, i play rb/gh and real drums and real guitar, and i play real sports, and the video games dont compare, so from my perspective, yea, if your gonna only do video games, maybe its time to go outside, because nothing beats the real thing. im not a marine so i cant say anything about cod haha but playing a pickup game of basketball is fun, you dont need to dunk like shaq, so what im tryng to say is, yes, video games are fun, but you also need to play the real thing once in a while :/
@GreenMachine1616 What I was meaning is playing a game of NBA Live did not teach you how to dribble the ball, did not teach you how to line up for a free through, did not teach you how to follow your shot through to the net. I played B-Ball in highschool myself. I do not even see people who play NBA live decide to go to basketball camp. With RB it is different. It is teaching kids enough fundamentals that they are taking lessons. RB3 will only enhance that.

@keedey12 Just curious how is it easier to tell a hammer on when the circle just has a raised bump looking thing. With RB the square notes are actually small and look different for a hammer on. RB sucks in your opinion, but in mine Activision/Neversoft ruined GH and it has not been the same since then.

@CenasCorner Don't get me wrong, I agree with all the points you made in the video, but the trolls aren't going to stop anytime soon. Most of the time when someone tells you to go play a real instrument, their goal isn't to actually get you to play a real instrument. It's just to piss you off. While stopping them would be the best thing to do, that's pretty unrealistic, so the best way to get back at them is to not let them get to you (although I agree 3 years of this crap is a little much).
guitar hero has always been better than RB especially on guitar. ive always hated rock band with a passion cuz it fuckin sucks and i think square notes are gay and look stupid and if it wasnt for guitar hero rockband wudnt even exist cuz the makers of rock band stole their idea from guitar hero so they shud like worship and thank them for the idea

@LOZmaster85RB I think the drums may be able to be added on to. The guitar you will have to buy a new one because it has some touch technology built into the neck of the guitar. This is so in pro mode the game will be able to pick up your finger position and display it on screen for one.
So really I guess what I am saying is though it is unfair for people to be saying "play a real instrument" it is also not a fully invalid comment because to actually get a real instrument and start learning is a lot less drastic, and has no extreme life implications compared to picking up a gun and entering a warzone.

So I threw it back at them. If you are going to say RB is fake, well so is your session of playing COD. Playing a real instrument is a real life implication. @CenasCorner Haha I am not bashing you at all, as I said I agree with most of what you are saying, but there is a little truth to what the ones who say "play a real instrument" or "stop playing a video game". What I meant by the difference of rock band to real instrument and cod to a warzone was that making that jump from rock band to a real instrument is not great. As you replied earlier you have seen people who play rock band drums duplicate the beat on real drums.
@CenasCorner As for warefare, taking someone who is infront of their t.v. and transitioning them into a real warzone where their life is in danger has huge implications. You would not see someone in that situation start drop shotting and quick scoping, they would more than likely curl up into a fetal position and be scared. You do not have to make huge lifestyle changes in order to take the time you use playing rock band and switch to playing an instrument where you have something real to show.
@CenasCorner In the end I still respect you and what you are saying, and the trolls who say that kind of stuff are still trolls and really don't take into consideration a lot of factors that may play in someone actually taking up a real instrument. It's not a fender... it's a squier, squier is like a copycat of a fender, essentially a stripped down most "cheapo" friendly version.
But seeing as the squier might cost 350$ it seems slighty overpriced just because of the "RB" gimmick.
A real fender costs about 499$ or more.
A normal squier goes from anything from 100$.

Both franchises are going to do very well this year. RB3 in real instruments but GH:WOR has an unbelievable setlist and there was a leak that GH Metallica is going to export. Thye wanted to focus on guitar in GH:WOR and what better way than to have the kings of metal.

I completely agree. Rock band never did teach anyone to play real guitar, but it helped me tremendously in the aspect of speed and strength in my fingers. Now the new promodes are going to step it up a notch. Also has anyone heard if u can use your own equipment like own guitar/keyboard?

@yoyoman2k1 Now that there is no double bass charting, a splitter not a Y splitter should work. If you use a Y splitter, then you have to release on pedal before you can depress the other for it to register. So you would want to to buy the one from Ion or a Twin Rocker.

GH lost me when they tried copying Rock Band w/ their whole drum set idea. They made crappy drums, charted some of the songs wrong, made (IMO) a horrible drum set & they're always in Harmonix's shadow. They won't ever approach what Harmonix has done to the music-game industry.
Also, comparing GH & RB is like comparing Modern Warfare 2 & Battlefield Bad Company 2. One is an arcade-like game, the other is more of a realistic-shooter.

i completly agree with you. i couldn't keep a beat if my life depended on it before rockband. but then i played the drums, and went out and spent $1300 on a real drum set. and since then (like 3 years now) i'm in a band and we actually record and play. if it wasn't for the rock band drum set, i never would have been able to keep a beat. i also play bass too, just to let you know. i still can't sing, but i can cary a tune and i can keep up on the pitch. i'm so excited for the Keyboard!!!!!!

It will hurt GH a bit, but not KO it. I play both, and will continue to play both. I play Guitar Hero mostly now because of Metallica's version and my custom modified drum rocker made to work all 5 lanes on Guitar hero's drum tracks. I flip back for Rock Bands drum trainer, freestyle mode and it's much better setup on vocals. I wish they would make them more compatible with eachother, but hey, guy has to dream right? Can't wait to play both RB3 and the new Guitar Hero when it comes out.

Of course for all of us who know better, we understand that Harmonix is actually trying to share their love of music and get people to enjoy it as much as they do. I'm not going to say Neversoft doesn't feel the same way, but I've always preferred Harmonix's games to Neversoft's.
Sure, we as gamers see it as a "definitive" blow to crappy music games, but people who don't know better see Guitar Hero and reach for their wallets. Neversoft will always have an audience, misinformed as it may be.

don't forget the ion is also a real drum set so you have real mic, real drums, real guitar, and real keyboard. So what makes it a real band? turning off the tv or just muting the sound from the game so all the sounds are from the people playing or is a real band only after you play in-front of people. really muting the game would make much like sheet music.

The release of three GH games in a 6 month span (GH:M - GH5) is what did Activision in and not RB3. They sold the game out, which angers me because they did such a good job on GH3. Its hard for a 17 year old like me to buy so many games in such a short amount of time. Activision failed to realize the audience they were reaching with their games: mostly kids under 18. It is not easy to buy so many games, which is why their sales went down. I'm not made of money. Activision did themselves in.

Now of a year ago maybe this would not even be so deep. However being in the middle of a recession, people are going to spend their money on what they feel is the best. Some people will only be able to get one over the other, so this is why it is important for every company to put out their best.

Depending on after i actually play RB3 i may just stick with RB because i can't keep shucking out $50-60 dollars every 6 months or so on new games for GH. The KO blow has been delivered. HMX said in that USA Today article they basically wanted to create the ultimate music game. We barely know a fraction of what is in this game, and even thus far I'd say they've already achieved that goal.

You have to remember who owns Harmonix the company now. Activision cannot compete with the catalog of music that is now available to Harmonix because of MTV.

i dont unerstand the people that say play a real instrument, i started off on rock band drums, when rb1 came out i loved played the drums for them, but a few months later when i could get on expert, i got a real drum kit, i have been playing real drums for 2 years, and i got a real life band, so im trying to say rb drums really do teach you how to play, the first day i got m drums, i was able to play in bloom, run to the hills, and numerous songs from rb.

For Keys, it sounds like it simply one step above Expert. For drums, those optional cymbal attachments for the RB2 and Beatles drums will now be required. Rounded gems will indicate that you hit a yellow/blue/green cymbal while the original rectangular gems are for the regular pads. Mad Catz is making a true guitar controller, and on screen, you'll have where to put your finger down like normal, but also a number to indicate which string you're supposed to pick.

All well & good including pro mode but you do forget that you need the pro instruments for this feature int the game to be of any use...well whats that i hear more money going down the the shute.I think at this point it would be a wiser investment pherhaps to invest in a real instrument rather than give in to that particular side of the game but all in all it is looking good,However as for this trying tobe the nail in the GH coffin i don't think so all be it looking like it's for 9yr olds.

@Fartnose55 That is wrong. The pro instruments are needed ONLY if you want to play pro mode. There are a lot of people who do not want to use that mode. However if you do and you cannot afford them right now, then you can use what you currently have. Again the guitar and keyboard are VERY REAL. you can plug the guitar into and amp and use it and it is also midi ready for a computer. The keyboard is also midi and can be used with your PC. I have a MAC so both will work in Garage band.

RB3 is gonna have a simultaneous worldwide release just like The Beatles did. I guess Australians will get this before RB2, which is wierd. As for the Wii, it's more of the fact that the Wii is a hard console to work with. You'd have to take that one up with Nintendo.

Anyway, there is always the future to come. Of course RB3 now has the keyboard and all that junk, but you can't tell what Harmonix and Activision have in store for the future RB/GH franchises. As you said, Rock Band 3 is more of a real instrument synthesizer, Guitar Hero is more of a game. Rock Band 3 is moving towards real intruments. IONS work as synthesizer drumkit, and now the MIDI keyboard and the real/RB guitar by Fender, and Pro mode. Guitar Hero 6 is moving towards being a game, and is moving back towards more guitar based stuff with the Megadeth songs and Fury of the Storm.
But I'm behind you on the learn a real instrument stuff.

On your point of people always telling people that play Rock Band to play a real instrument, I actually can really relate to that. Way back in the days of Rock Band 1, I had never been behind a set. I would play drums all day every day, my friends would tell me to play real drums, and people at Best Buy would too. Then, I got a real set, learned to play, and now I'm one of the best at my high school. Truthfully, I would have never became a drummer if it weren't for Rock Band.

However, adding the keyboard is big plus, but like I said, I think "knock out blow" is unfair. It will open up to more genre's, and I would like to see Skynyrd in there now (RIP Billy Powell). Both games will fun, both are made entertainment purposes, but I think in no way will this end the GH franchise, nor will RB corner the market. GH has been around for twice as many years as RB, and it will take more than this for RB to totally have a monopoly on rhythm games. GH and RB will coexist.

The only thing RB STILL doesn't simulate is drums. The GHWT drums are better than any RB drums ever released. 2 raised cymbals and 4 rubber pads are better than 4 rubber pads that look like a cheap electric drum kit. Please, Cena, question Harmonix why they haven't made the drums more realistic if RB3 will try to teach us drums.

@calvins48 GH only has 3 pads and 2 cymbals (and one of the pads is for snare only, which limits tom patterns to two pads). RB3's Pro Mode integrates cymbals into the game, totaling four pads and three cymbals.

@calvins48 Don't have to as they did already in RB3, but you must keep two things in mind. 1. Harmonix did not want to give you anything to complicated to start out with. They knew they were making a game where everyone did not play drums as well. 2. Activision gave you the drumset they did because of the success of RB and what they cold do better. 3. Harmonix gave us the Ion from Ion Audio. You can get no more real than this. Plus activation on drums in GH is HORRIBLE!

@CenasCorner You have to also keep in mind that having a drum set is not all about pads and cymbals , but what the drummer makes it. There are some who only uses electronics and everything is pads. Some drummers play with one ride cymbal, one crash, a snare and three toms. Look at The Konks. He uses only one snare and a floor tom. So I think it is unfair to say RB drums are unrealistic, because they have you playing VERY realistic beats.

However, I personally play the GH drums with goodwoodmods mesh heads on RB2 .It makes for a great combo because I have to reach up to play the cymbals (at least one of them because the ride isn't supported in RB2). The drums would just feel that much better if I didn't have to combine a ride and crash with a floor tom. In GH:WT, the ride, crash and hih-hat actually feel like them. In RB2, they all feel like toms.

@calvins48 That has been handles now if you use Pro mode in RB3. The cymbals will not be charted so crash is a crash and so on.

I honestly already know how to play keyboard, guitar, and drums. I'm worried that this game will entirely be revolved around learning the instruments and just playing to play will no longer be fun. Any ideas on this Cena cause I'm actually worried about this.

i still think that gh will be a forerunner in the music game industry. most people enjoy a wider hit window and more rock and roll whereas rock band cant realize that lady gaga is NOT rock. i still do like rb and alot of their songs, but i dont like the hit window. having to play over and over again to pass what a horrible night to have a curse because of an unforgiving hit window is not my type of game.

@GeraldLaird15 What Harmonix realizes that Activision does not is that someone in their 50's is not going to want to play metal. Kids that are not into metal is not going to want to play it either. Harmonix wants a full family experience, so they have to include music that crosses all genres. RB is very popular in bars. Ever ask yourself why GH is not?

@mytownisnotyourtown2 Several reports and certain people at Activision have kind of lead on to this would be it for GH. Then like a week ago it comes out that there is a rumor that they are starting to work on GH7 and Band Hero 2 and 3. So I do not know for sure anymore only time will tell. However if they do not step up the game, they will be done because the consumers will say so.

ok the thing is, i play rb/gh and real drums and real guitar, and i play real sports, and the video games dont compare, so from my perspective, yea, if your gonna only do video games, maybe its time to go outside, because nothing beats the real thing. im not a marine so i cant say anything about cod haha but playing a pickup game of basketball is fun, you dont need to dunk like shaq, so what im tryng to say is, yes, video games are fun, but you also need to play the real thing once in a while :/

@GreenMachine1616 What I was meaning is playing a game of NBA Live did not teach you how to dribble the ball, did not teach you how to line up for a free through, did not teach you how to follow your shot through to the net. I played B-Ball in highschool myself. I do not even see people who play NBA live decide to go to basketball camp. With RB it is different. It is teaching kids enough fundamentals that they are taking lessons. RB3 will only enhance that.

c)Guitar Hero was made by Harmonix. They moved to Rock Band to expand their creativity. Neversoft took over and said: "Okay, let's just recycle everything and make it look cool." Then they decided to steal Harmonix's idea again.
d)Square notes for the fucking win. :D It's much easier to see square notes, and white circles are really distracting.

@keedey12 Just curious how is it easier to tell a hammer on when the circle just has a raised bump looking thing. With RB the square notes are actually small and look different for a hammer on. RB sucks in your opinion, but in mine Activision/Neversoft ruined GH and it has not been the same since then.

Haters have been saying "Play a real instrument" ever since these games started coming out and they're not gonna stop. If you actually start playing an instrument, they're gonna say "you suck." The best thing you can do is just to not feed the trolls.

@CenasCorner Don't get me wrong, I agree with all the points you made in the video, but the trolls aren't going to stop anytime soon. Most of the time when someone tells you to go play a real instrument, their goal isn't to actually get you to play a real instrument. It's just to piss you off. While stopping them would be the best thing to do, that's pretty unrealistic, so the best way to get back at them is to not let them get to you (although I agree 3 years of this crap is a little much).

@keedey12 every GH game after GH3 really didn't sell well enough, it was a commercial failure, GH3 and maybe GH6 will be the only well selling games (probably just GH3)
Rock Band has definitely done the more addicting stuff, can't play much guitar hero without being bored fast
DLC's lets you choose an immense quantity of awesome songs, too.

@LOZmaster85RB I think the drums may be able to be added on to. The guitar you will have to buy a new one because it has some touch technology built into the neck of the guitar. This is so in pro mode the game will be able to pick up your finger position and display it on screen for one.

So really I guess what I am saying is though it is unfair for people to be saying "play a real instrument" it is also not a fully invalid comment because to actually get a real instrument and start learning is a lot less drastic, and has no extreme life implications compared to picking up a gun and entering a warzone.

@SurgeXI Sure it does. You are assuming that it is "easy" to pick up an instrument with a comment like that. Also when people say that they are also saying stop playing a video game. So I threw it back at them. If you are going to say RB is fake, well so is your session of playing COD. Playing a real instrument is a real life implication. Also in case you do not know this, out armed forces actually use games like COD to train. However I stand 100% by my statement.

What I meant by the difference of rock band to real instrument and cod to a warzone was that making that jump from rock band to a real instrument is not great. As you replied earlier you have seen people who play rock band drums duplicate the beat on real drums.

@CenasCorner As for warefare, taking someone who is infront of their t.v. and transitioning them into a real warzone where their life is in danger has huge implications. You would not see someone in that situation start drop shotting and quick scoping, they would more than likely curl up into a fetal position and be scared. You do not have to make huge lifestyle changes in order to take the time you use playing rock band and switch to playing an instrument where you have something real to show.
