I'm from cache creek and I fish the thompson for chinooks during the summers, and im thinking of going down there this summer and fall. I know its a crowded river, but does anyone know if there's good pools and good spots for salmon, that arent all that crowded? What I'm asking is are there good spots on that river that people either arent willing to walk to or go through all the trouble to get there?
Good job on this ! Since the sockeye run, I have eaten salmon 6 times last week and posted one of my favorite recipe of all time, the salmon stew, on my site atasteofquebec.ca
I have also included picture and the recipe itself ! Enjoy and thanks again !
I hate when that happens! .... Im in WA ..lil over 2hr drive.. whats it take to get a 1-2day punch card if possible? Been to Vancover several times but not to fish just to party with friends when I was in the military(stationed down in San Diego) over 9yrs ago...
I use an adjustable Float, Hollow core weight and about 32 inches of leader and Blood red wool on a bait looped barbless #2 Hook. I am not a real spoon guy, But I see others having some success with them...As the weather gets drastically colder you might want to think about using Roe.
if your going for salmon almost any colour from red to bright orange and pink work great. if your going for steelhead i use a 4"-6" floating worm in hot pink this works great when the river is kind of dirty if you can find where the fish are holding, when the water is more clear i use chum roe or a soft plastic egg with a touch of white wool. good luck fishing the vedder is great river from augast to april every year.
No, the doggie was not snagged, it was in the mouth, You are right on one thing though, My wife uses a coffee grinder cause on a level wind she gets a rat every time...I use a level or a centerpin.
so umm was that just a chum. and umm im pretty sure ive seen you many times this year i dont know whats teh spot called its kinda like rapids lots of big rocks then theres some fast water. well i seen you on the othe side i think
is that by the electrical bridge were you have to walk over that big train bridge becuase if it is the water is still like that i caught 4 rb in the water
What a gong show...

That fish was snagged by the way your rod was bending. You should also invest in a real rod and reel; not that coffee grinder. Good luck.

coffee grinders are nice and efficient. not to mention cheap
