  • What kind of rice cooker do you recommend? :) Thanks Aeri!

  • @MsSpitfire21

I have a post about my rice cooker on my blog.. please check it out. ^^

  • That looks so good!

  • If i cut the ingredients in half, does it take half the time to cook?

  • @cmyh624

No you still need same amount of fermenting (??) cooking.. time.. thanks

  • Is it a ginger version of this?cux I taste ginger in this drink in my local korean restaurant,Thank you so much for the recipe, love it so much.

  • @dignifriedd

yes.. many people add some slice of ginger when they boil the drink.. I prefer it without ginger.. so I skipped it. ^^

  • 오모오모!! 감사해요!! I Love 식혜 !! it was my favorite drink ; after eating 설렁탕 ; korean bbq; etc!! ever since i was a kid! Thank you so muchh!! And May God Bless You!!

  • Is it similar to the taste of 막걸리? I did homemade 막걸리 not so long ago, and I used some type of Nuruk... can I use it for this beverage?

  • @hehehe08

No this is totally different from 막걸리.. so you can't use nuruk for this beverage..hehe

  • im drinking it right now lol so gooood

  • 잘봤어요^^ 보고 있으니 배가 고파지네요 ㅜㅜ ㅎㅎ

    근데 반지는 빼고 하시는게 좋을것 같아요ㅜㅜ 많은 외쿡분들이 보고 있으니까 조금 걱정이 되서요;;

    주제넘게 나섰다면 정말 죄송해요, ,,

  • @devidocq

  • I remember my aunt made this one winter when I was visiting Korea many many many years ago when I was a little kid. She'd carry me on her back while I hold on to a ladle and a bowl, and we'd go out to the garden together to scoop some Sik Hye from a container she had stored outside to keep cold. It was really good!

  • @fishtub

  • i've had this in a korean bbq place. they serve it to us everytime we finish our meal... it's really good!

  • Your voice is so sweet. Your husband is a lucky man!

  • Yummy! I love this drink. :o)

  • Wonderful! But, Aeri, may I know the reason for separating a little bit of the barley water and then recombining it with the majority of the barley water at a later time?

  • @wildoetz

You mean... you don't pour all to your rice cooker..and add the leftover barley water later to the pan with the majority of the barley water ?? if that's your question.. it's because your rice cooker can't have all in it.. if it's big enough.. you can just add all to your rice cooker and keep it warm for about 3 hours.. if it's not what you are asking.. ask me again.. ^^

  • Whoo ! My name was in the "Requested By" !!!!!

Thanks for making this you truly ARE awesome :)

I have to think other ways.. :( and for your new song..I'm very excited to share that song with others in my future video, just we need a written document.. or something else.. to prove again ..that you approved me to use your song.. I will send you message later again..thank you so much. p.s I like your music always.. :)

  • Would you serve this drink after dinner with or as a dessert to finish a meal? Or is it usually served to accompany a meal? It looks like a very soothing drink. Thanks, Aeri.

  • @GracefulJoy

It can be after dinner as a dessert... or when somebody visit between meal.. and you serve just snack.. or fruit..this drink is good to serve with other simple food not meal.. ^^

  • I have been looking for this recipe for a long time. This drink is always served at my local korean restaurant as a dessert drink. It tastes so delicious but I never knew what it was. I will try your recipe and looking forward to enjoy this drink at home.

  • I love sikhye! :D All the Korean restaurants here serve it to us for dessert if we order the all you can eat bbq xD haha but I'm pretty sure most of them aren't homemade. I have an old rice cooker so it doesn't have a timer =/

But I'm sure you can cook it on the stove for 3 hours on low heat?

  • @Appiebunny

Oh.. you can't cook on the stove.. even it's low heat.. it is too hot... it is not cooking.. it is more like...fermenting.. so you will need rice cooker keep warm function for this.. sorry..

  • Yay!! I'm so happy you did this tutorial! <3 Thank you so much! I had this once when I went to a Korean restaurant years ago and I fell in love with it. It has such a refreshing taste, and I never forgot it! Now I can make it at home ^_^ Thank you so much!!!

  • i've had this after i ate at a korean restaurant

  • thank you for the upload ^_^

  • is it ok to not add so much sugar its too sweet for me

  • @animefanatics

Yep.. it suppose to be sweet..but you can adjust the amount of sweetness for your taste..

  • @aeriskitchen ok thanks ^_^

  • if you haven't tried this, do. don't get the ones that come in cans at the asian grocery store as the rice in them tends to taste like cardboard.

this is a very aromatic and mellow-ey sweet drink, enjoyable warm or cold. i used to eat huge pots and jars of them when my mother made them.

  • I enjoy watching u make this recipe a lot! so delicate.

  • i have never had this but now i want some! It looks really refreshing!
