  • That dosent walks its just sliding on the wells

  • The cheapest alternative is always the used alternative. I don't think for along time this won't be a very practical technology until it is able to climb rocky crags and mountains.

  • Until they get these things to actually move without looking like a drunk metal chicken, using wheeled vehicles will be so much more practical.

  • Ewoks are small in statue, but just like Ronnie James Dio, they are bad ass!

  • seriously, I can't wait to see the finished model at a war soon

  • don't get too smartsy , remember who gave away microchips in favor of vacumn tubes, it was us in the u.s.a. shoot, this is probly the 1960's - 70's model there letting us look at, the one that can do flips and make dinner is probly hidden away til 30 years from now, lol.

  • all it needs is a gyroscopic stabilizer and for it to be able to shift its center of gravity more fluently and humanoid walking will be very much possible, thats how assimo works, why not a massive armored minigun wielding walker

  • Where is robocop to take this thing out?

  • @fasterthansound101 they already are....japan is hiding them under the ocean and waiting for the right moment to attack D:

  • a human attacker would jump up from behind a building and destroy it with an RPG quick as heck.. boom a millipon down the drain.. good prototype though

  • @2237lemon

That'd have been back in 2006 when this model was built, it must be a friggin Gekko from MGS4 by now, heck! it must be a motherfucking evangelion by now!

  • Silly mecha fetish

  • i dont want these things, wars will be really scary in the future

  • him if i could get one of these i would modifiy a berrata 50 cal sniper for the cannon and a dillion minigun for the right and equipith with long range and mid to short range targeting pc

  • just i want any.

  • It wouldnt last a second in the battle field wt a hepe ov junk and a waste ov money

  • since it shuffles its feet like that, would it cause a power outage if it touched your house?

  • Another warfare toy

  • hardly a walker... more like... land shuffler.

makes a great show for the kids though. i would have been blown away if i had seen this in my youth.

  • you guys realize that this is just the beginning right? Think of how far we've come in video games along so the early-mid 90's to now. It's incredible. Same for medical technology. Give it 10.. 15.. 20 years, who knows, eventually they'll get these actually lifting their feet. for now shuffling isn't that bad. I'm impressed so far.

  • yes it crazy like the hal5 is really impressive and like holy shit

  • Well said, mentioned the important of steps like this for any industry in another Landwalker vid. Yes, it's a primitive machine right now, but ten years ago it didn't even exist outside of books and games. One need only look at the progenitors of airplanes and submarines to get an idea of what happens when private projects become major industry.

I'd love to see things like this built with the technology seen in the latest Kawada robot, personally.

  • @jacobvary

some day gundam robat will be real.

  • @jacobvary lifting the feet isn't the problem, if you were fallowing robotics at all, you'd find out that it's the ballance that is the hardest thing to build in a two legid machine... yes advences are being made in small comecial leg prosthetics, but, that's not the same as a milltary line of research which would be hundreds of times harder, seeing as the specifications would be harsh and extreme... this is why the millitary prefers to waste money on politics more then new war machines...

  • @jacobvary ya its like a child give it time and its taking over the world.... i mean walking.

  • @jacobvary Walkers will NEVER be combat vehicles, because a tank would outperform it incredibly. Any technology that would allow a mech to have armor, not sink 20 feet into the ground, and have the power to actually lift the armored legs would permit a new tank that would utterly destroy any hopes of using the mech in combat.

  • @MrFlylice Based on what information? You need to look more into military drone and AI technology. Walkers could very well be in out future and possibly less than 20 years away.

Think about it. Tree falls over, tank is blocked. Walker is not. Bridge across major river is out, tank is stuck, Walker is not.

The practical applications are countless once we solve the weight/power/strength factors. Tanks will have their place, but a walker can serve more than a military purpose.

  • @punjedi You cannot simply break physics. If you armor a mech, it's going to sink into the ground- if it's on some surface that can hold it, good luck getting one of those heavily armored legs up.

Oh, lighter materials you say? Use that technology to make an even better tank.

Now, if a tree fell in the forest and was capable of blocking a tank, a walker's not going to be able to lift its leg high enough, and if it does, it's so incredibly vulnerable it's funny.

  • @MrFlylice give it a couple of years. when planes first arrived they could only do a couple of meters.

    just give it time

  • @cybercobra2 There's no reason to pursue legs. There's no advantage. At all. There is nothing a legged vehicle has over a wheeled or treaded vehicle.

^Read it. This is mathematical proof as to why mechs fail, and fail hard.

  • @cybercobra2

Seeing as I can't post links on here, look up "NSdraftroom why mecha fail sticky." It provides mathematical proof that mechs fail hard.

There is NO ADVANTAGE whatsoever that legs give a vehicle. The idea behind a walker is a giant infantryman- a giant tank would be more effective. No advantages at all. None. Zero. End of.

  • @MrFlylice hmm. ive read it and i have to agree, mechs DO have some fatal flaws. if it were to be inplented. it probably will have to be designed very good and for a specific purpouse. kinda like a special ops unit.

if it for example is lightweight and barely armored. it could be a good recon and supporter. but at the moment there are flaws indeed

  • @cybercobra2 It would be for infantry support wouldn't it... ha its on wheels!

  • @Darkninja282 if that was a joke: XD

if not: i was talking about when they actualy walk.

things like that always convay so bad in text >.<

  • Comment removed

  • @cybercobra2 Oh no the last part was a joke. (I'm sick of how we have to deal with a character limit.)

  • Comment removed

  • @cybercobra2 How ever, infantry support would be best for a Mech, even if it did have strong armor it would be a huge target on the battlefield. They also could be used as body guards for high ranking officers, or even given to anti terrorist groups like GSG9.

One would only deploy a Mech in an urban environment, any where else is suicidal.

I can see a huge successful mech development though and very cost effective. If using Graphene and carbon nano-tubes and titanium springs

  • Geko anyone from METAL GEAR. except its not organic.

  • It's not really walking is it? More like shuffling it's feet. Build us a 20ft Asimo and we'll talk.

  • I just read that this isn't actually a walker, there's wheels on the bottom of the legs that help it shuffle along.

  • What happens if it falls over? I mean, I saw a bunch of Ewoks take these things down once, a long time ago....

  • @funtimeeffect In a galaxy far, far away?

  • Armored Core is coming to life

  • Thats tottaly not true. Ever watched gundam? If Meches wud be big like that and that smooth moving And no wheels under the foots But really 100% fast robots that can jump to. with massive armoured gear then they cant be killed. They just jump over the rocket and smash these tanks. maybe even a whole army.
  • I could see how this MIGHT work in a battlefield for intimidation purposes. Watching 20 of these things slowly approach your encampment, the loudest thing you've ever heard even though they are 2 miles away...

for that would work they would need to be as durable as a tank though... These look very vulnerable to attacks from behind because it has to turn to shoot a different direction. Tanks would beat this thing, even if the mech had all sorts of crazy weapons.

  • that was so incredibly underwhelming

  • if it goes that slow my MK-I will play no effort in defeating the Landwalker

  • it reminds me of the security robot from the robocop movie. It's cool, but apear a little dull. It's like commodore 64 in the anticipated new robot world. Don't get me wrong commodore 64 was big when it first came out.

  • Not to hard to hit with a missilelauncher at that speed :P

    Good start tho!

  • meh, the concept has been used so much in children's agressive shows that there had to be a real version of it >.> they might even start selling gundam styled ones like these for children somewhere in the future

  • It's not so worse than tanks in WW1.

  • it's slow, and it's completely in practical. you couldn't go anywhere's but a mall with it. that would however come in handy if say, teenage girls were to try and take over . EPIC fail.

  • o well its a start.........look at how many tries the Wrhigt bros. had to do b4 succeeding. anyways how cool would it be if they did make a btr one?

  • porque trae armas, why it caries weapens.

wat can dis crap can do? It is biuldded to protect us or to destroy us.

  • Just a really big toy.

  • It looks like the flea or fireant mech fromt the mechwarrior series.

  • More like a really scaled down stalker. But on the side note that thing is really simplistic of a design honestly it couldnt move over so much as 1inch pebble let alone dirt or a slight incline.

  • yeah yeah yeah, it cant do shit, blah blah blah!! STFU alredy!!! the model t wasn't great either but it was a start!!!!

  • i wonder what would happen if the people that made armored core, gundam, mechassault, and whatever other mech game were able to put their word on this

  • Actually, Japan is working on making a 13 or 16ft tall Gundam =) Google it! So, this thing is just fodder for the gundam in my opinion lol

  • if i die before that comes out ill be pissed even if it is only 13 feet

  • It comes out somewhere between 2010-2012....who knows, Gundams might be the end of the world XD How ironic would that be? They make ALL those anime series of Gundam, but learn NOTHING from it lol

  • haha yeah very

  • not a single thing, someone has a test run in a mobile suit, accidently shoots a mall full of people, and says "I'm gonna get in trouble, I just burned a few dollars of land."

  • why would you test a Gundam around a mall of people? No, it's called a TEST SITE. And, they wouldn't use LIVE rounds if people were around.

  • by the time we have giant mechas, there would be too many humans, so I just think, why else do we make weapons of destruction?

  • They plan on releasing the 13ft Gundam pretty soon. 2012 latest. "GUNDAMS WILL END THE WORLD!" 2 things about that. 1) they made the gundam anime, so Japan isn't STUPID. 2) I can only hope...

  • robocop

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!! I love the beginning where he starts up the engine.... LOL

  • señores este es el principio de la destruccion de la raza humana

  • slow as fuck

  • I prefer a mbt...

  • im just waiting for like a giant gattling gun to come out its head or something

    wooo, giant mecha wars!

  • It's in the experimental stage right now; of course it's going to seem sucky at first.

  • It looks like Star war's machine.

  • thats probably what it's based off of

  • It's Metal Gear! SOMEONE CALL SOLID SNAKE!

  • These guys have no idea... these machines mearly mimic the concept of a bipedal vehicle. Obviously, they're not taking it seriously.

Then again, this thing doesn't cost much.

  • sucks

  • no magic is fireballs that form inside some1s hand using psychic powers they were born with, which is what inbred retards in the middle ages believed in (whoever believes in magic must be an mega inbred retard who can only think of 1 thing for .5 seconds at a time and cant remember the past)

  • Its that POS robot from robot cop. Cease being gay... you have 30 seconds to comply.

  • its stupid, it doesn't really walk, the mechanism is not different from that 2 dollars Chinese toy robots

  • if it wasn't for "stupid shit" we wouldnt have the things we do today

i bet your opinion on the worlds first computer is that its stupid slow as hell and should have been destroyed

guess what if thats what we did we wouldnt have the computers of today

  • lol

  • awwsome !!

  • First anime, then real world, I'm beginning to wonder if everything in animes will be real (Except magic though :P)

  • Magic can be real. Magic isnt really what u think it is. Magic is really what humans are capable of doing, but havent trained themselves to do or currently cant do yet. Ill give u a hint. We only use 10% of our brain, how about the rest.

  • Actually that's only half true, we use just under 100% of our brain, but only 10% at a time (roughly).

  • Maybe we got hidden powers of some kid on our brains :V

  • lol hidden powers of some kid

  • so your saying we can form fire balls and fly on a broom without any technology at all

  • no the walker idea is from star wars but i know what youre saying.

  • or it could be from the game called mech warriors, you never know.

  • first gundam ever

  • These walking robots could avoid minefield easier than tanks... UH OH we already stepped on the mine, soldiers are able to get out, and let the robot explode itself...nvm

  • yep

  • It is a robot for the game.

It is a game that meets a target by launching the tennis ball.

The robot of Japan is not a tool of the war.

It is a small private tractor company that made this.

It is quite unrelated to the country and the government.

  • It's just a toy. The inventor built it so he could own at paint ball XD.

  • one rpg 7 and this thing is toast - as well as the driver - and 20 million

  • Try making one yourselves... =/

  • give me the suplies and a remote control car i could probably make somthing

  • this cant be a real mech

  • so..what your saying is....thing whole video is fake?

  • Terrifying what the human mind thinks up. Quick, someone put a banana in the tailpipe! Obviously the first target should be the peace planners at the UN cause they ain't doing their jobs. IMBECILES. Strive for peace. We've all had enough of the war games already.

  • ricangal you fucking hippie

  • Vete pal carajo, pendejo.

  • a fucking mustang with legs....LOL

    the ignition is funny

  • wow....Were is this guy From???

  • people are afraid . . . once the military industry makes walking mechs . . . war will change and they will need to create more wars to fuel the mil industrial complex

  • lol dude....a mech is easier to take down than a tank. Taking down ONE LEG is enough to disable it.

  • this you could just bump into it with a Volkswagen to take it down lol.

  • volkswagon was invented by hitler

  • did i ever say it wasnt?

  • it certainy wasn't hiter was t stupid to do some good engineering

  • This machine looks cheap. Seems like its gonna fall in pieces as it walks. Wonder who wasted his money on building this piece of junk.

  • i wonder who will take his inventions and ideas and make them better for the next generation

i bet some1 just like you said that about the first automobile and if it wasn't for that creative mind we might not even have cars

  • Arrgh, why does everyone automatically think about a way of destroying things! All man kind seems to think about is more and more advanced ways to blow each others brains out! Cant we just appreciate that some guy has acutally made something pretty damn cool! "i could put some explosives behind it!" Yeah, well its not attacking you so why destroy it?! Its not even a military project. I personally think this is pretty amazing, Thumbs up to its creator.

  • (I do realise CaptiveRiticuli he/she liked it, but that comment was more aimed at the guys lower lower down)

  • Why are all these people so upset at this machine? This is the work of a SINGLE man. No R&D team. A single man. Of course he had to go through a metal works company and probably had someone design a program for the legs - but come on!

This was a pet project. I don't see many other people making something of this magnitude.

  • This is almost certainly not a new toy for the military , he even started it up like a car. i could run up behind that and probably place explosive on it b4 it has had time to turn around lol. sounds and looks like it is suffering from old age, but i actually like it

  • The guy said he made it just for fun he was on the news

  • that thing sucks. doesn't pick up feet. would never survive.

  • Impressive...

  • Americans

  • it's alive!!!!!!

  • this is bullshit..the robot uses wheels to glide around and move..It's more like a toy robot.

  • An R.P.G. could take that out soooooo easy !

  • yeah the gun at the side work

  • It's an air gun, it can shoot paintballs or tennis balls.

  • there are wheels under the feet so they can slide forward

  • Whoa! Star Wars comes to life! Awsome, Do the turret guns work?

  • More like Mechwarrior 4
