My family is posting songs regarding "What was the number one song on the day you were born!" to our facebook pages. We're taking the songs way back to our grandparents/great-grandparents birthdates now. Thank you very much for sharing the #1 song for our paternal grandfather's birthdate with us!!
Burt Williams first made this hit at the turn of the century, his diction is a lot better then this...a little more slurry and smooth..check it out..W.C Fields said Burt was the funniest man on Broadway back then..

@gambeats1 Thanks for you comments. Bert Williams recorded this great selection in 1910, and its a treat to hear !! You can go to the online Collected Works of Bert Williams and play it or download it for FREE. The Murray version actually predates the Williams version, and was recorded in 1909. Murray of course is using his best exagerated Negro Dialect in this version.
@RaymondTVinyl Thank you Raymond, your comments are much appreciated. Also note that this all original historical version contains lyrics that are Politically incorrect by 21st century standards !! In the other versions shown on Youtube the lyrics have been altered !! How sad !! This song is a true historical gem, and should not be altered in anyway. What we are hearing is part our heritage, part of our history!!
