Memorizing the lyrics is a feat on its own. The guitar is great, the vocal is great. This is a really fantastic cover which warrants all praise. Very well done!
Really nice. I'd love to learn this- Can I ask the names of those chords? (I can't really see them, and I'm not sure if you're using an alternate tuning).
Yes, it was very bold of me to attempt a cover that was done so perfectly in the first place. Ambition can make you look pretty ugly, but it was an interesting experiment and some dig it.
Thanks for giving your time to check out some of my original songs.
It's pretty good. If I had my time again, I probably would've paid an extra 500 bucks for a Fat Lady 2. I thought the pick-ups were better in the Cole Clarks compared to the Matons in that price range.
This is really good. How do you play the d/g chord. I suck at guitar but my girlfriend loves this song so i'm determined to learn it. Also, you don't have a bad voice but you shouldn't belt this out like your in a pub
In opposition to what the gentleman below had to say, I liked this. Maybe try to make the vocals sound less...prominent in certain parts (e.g. around 4:00).
Thank-you tobiasgabel - I'm glad someone liked it. I wouldn't claim it to be anywhere near as good as the original (we are not all born with extraordinary looks and voices for a start), but it was an interesting challenge to figure it out on guitar.

@Stocky76 oh cool. at first it sounds north american, then when you say 'glue' it sounds scottish. regardless, nice cover.

@Stocky76 I'm Aussie. You sound just a little exotic ;) Then maybe it's just the sound quality.
What's your background?
Also, could you PLEASE post a tute or tabs or something? It is hard to get any info on Jo, being that she has such a specific little cult following.

@chloeindigo I'm an Aussie too, darling. I posted the chords I play at e-chords.com. It doesn't include the details, but it's a start.

Excellent. You put out such an effort, it has such energy.

Fantastic. Your voice sounds a LOT like Bill Callahan.

Does that mean Joanna will want to go out with me?

For your sake, I hope so. Just try to stop breaking horses.

It's in dropped D tuning and you play a G chord except you don't play the low G note - you let the low D string ring out.
I agree that it's not one of my best vocal performances - I could have sung it more subtly.
Stocky76 4 years ago
cheers. perfect

nicely played, although you've sung 'Emily' better... covering Joanna's songs is fucking difficult but you did well. Got any own material?

Don't mind this douche bag.
I've seen him comment on like a zillion videos, and every single one of his comments is insulting and negative.
As pathetic as it all is, it is how he gets his kicks.
That being said, you did a marvelous job on this. Where can I find the tablature for it?
