take both heatsinks off, remove the thermsl paste. get arctic silver 5 thermal compound, i got mine at radioshack. get nylon and stell washers and bolts, titen the bolts down very tigt then when you turn on the console 3 rings should come up. then turn off console, put fan so it's on CPu heatsink not GPU heatsink, overheat GPU for 20 min. and cool for 20 min. work like new when you turn it on, look up XBOX360FIx on youtube and first on.

but i belive in the video it wasnt the static he said it was the clamp holding the motherboard and the other compartment together.Which in turn causes the 3/4 red rings of death.

but i think the 3 red rings are caused by over heating and fans and dust, while the 4 red rings are actually the clamp thing.

if you do the xclamp fix for both cpu and gpu then turn it on with no fans and turn it on for about 20-30mins and let it overheat then turn it of and let it cool for about 20mins than turn it back on and it should be all good...oh dont forget to plug that fans back in..LOL

then you haven't fixed very many, I have fixed over 200 I run a business repairing consoles and the "Xclamp" fix is okay, but won't work too often, and won't even touch the E74 errors etc. You guys can keep getting them to last a little longer with your precious "Xclamp" fix, but leave the repairs to professionals like me. I have never ever "reballed" the solider joints on the board.The only thing I have ever done,Is clean the gpu&cpu of the "thermal" paste,And re-applied it with artic silver5 thermal paste.Replaced the "x-clamps" with some screws and some washers.And I have never had one fail me yet.

Eventually if you try to fix enough xboxs you will get ones that continue to red ring even with the xclamp fix then we'll talk about it PS you spelled solder wrong, and Microsoft doesn't use thermal paste, they use thermal adhesive, far inferior to Arctic Silver thermal paste

Technicalities only the 360 suffers from various "errors" they can ALL be repaired the same way, and if done right they will last. Mine is not an opinion it is a fact. Ha, I did the new thermal grease, then the penny trick, then the heat gun, and finally the screws that replace the x plate. I have all 4 things going which are really 3. I should have done the screws in conjuction with the thermal grease. My xbox is functioning so far. I'll keep everyone updated.

Call X box .I had gotten mine when they first came out and over a year went by had the 4 ring's. Well I called them and they shipped me out another one and almost 2 year's have gone by and today the 3 ring's happened . Well I called the 800 # and they are saying there is a 3 year extended warranty now - they even will pay for shipping . So if this video will help you great but call the 800 # first ... They helped me great, and it hasn't cost me anything out of my pocket

Permanent, bassicly when your xbox heats up it sofens up and expands (metal expands when hot) over time it losens from the jolts. = no cpu and gpu on the board. What the X-Clapm mod does is just apllys much more secure pressure. So the cpu and gpu is ALWAYS connected to the jolts. Thus we have a permanent fixed xbox 360. (Not includeing dick drive problems).

I bet over half the people that mod or fix these xboxes are smarter than the people at the repair center who sometimes just screw up a console rather than fixing it. Any tutorial on fixing a console (yes it voids your warranty so what) is better than waiting a month for your console to come back (your still not guarunteed a perfect running console). If you fail to fix it then just pay 100 bucks when repair center actually learns how to repair xbox 360s. (Just wait til MS finds a permanent fix.)

Scres are as follow.

gpu uses 5mm x 10mm machine crews. and the cpu uses 5mm x 15mm machine screws. put a 2mm washer underneath the gpu and cpu.

if they made the gpu heatsink like Sapphire Radeon X1600 Pro heatsink but without the fan(360 already has 2 fans at the back) then it wouldn't overheat all the time, because theres empty space at the back of the console close to where the fans are and at the front where the ram chips are. go on google and look at the Sapphire Radeon X1600 Pro and u will see what im talking about.
