People should just use dumb bells instead of the bar, you can drop those just as easily, and they probably won't mess up your floors as much as many different plates dropping.
Evil i'm sure that everyone who is truly interested in fitness values your videos as much as i do, a great source of information, your presentation is just as it needs to be! don't downgrade yourself ;)
i learned a lot from you, and you don't just ask us to take your word for it!
PS: i'm sure we all love your accent :D
even if you consider it a flaw, it makes you human, and i much rather like to learn from someone like that, then those overly perfect trainers who look and act like androids.
yeah just place some cushions so the big plates don't end up cracking the floor!
also you could've mentioned the "roll of shame" although its not nearly as easy.
and plus not having collars on will keep you trying to have good form so the bar doesn't go lop sided and screws up your set :)
because i notice with most of my trainees that even tough they have strength they don't have the barbel level (even with a proper grip) and they can't control the movement all that well..
For precisely this reason, I never use a barbell for bench press, I focus on dumbbells. Plus you don't need as many weights and you're less likely to get disproportions in your pecs.
if you do both exercises right then neither is more likely to give you disproportions then the other ;)
and yeah most of my trainees i notice can't quite control the bar right, so i have them do dumbbell presses for a while with higher number of reps and slow 2-3 seconds up and down.. so they can train their stabilizers a bit more and learn a bit of control.
@xenonnati I don't know about that. Bodies are usually stronger on one side and people often can't control it, so they tend to work one side more than the other. Same goes for squats and leg presses, that's why you'll see people doing presses with single leg.
Perhaps if you could fully control the tension in your muscles... but I'm not quite there yet :)
@RoccoDaOne yes that's true :) that's why i notice many people can't keep the bar level, because they are subconsciously relying more on their stronger side (well that's a factor at least)
not an issue tough long as you have control
but you have to know that same imbalance applies to the DB press as well, just cause you can't see it.. ;)
but of course they correct that imbalance in time as a good mind-muscle connection is established, IF proper form is used. Same for benchpress, albeit harder..
i used to make this mistake several years ago. there were a few times when i tried to push out that final rep and failed, then had the weight on my chest. fortunately i never died. i slowly maneuvered the barbell to one side and rolled it down and off. i think i pulled some muscles doing that...
Great Video Cyber, I have a power rack/squat cage at home and have always been worried about the next time that i may put a bit too much weight on the rack, and crush my self to death lol. but that is a good idea you have given. ur good videos help me a lot thanks heaps
You have 2500 subs because you are a normal everyday guy just like the rest of us, we can relate to what you are saying and value advice from someone who lives in the real world instead of someone on the juice or trying to sell us shit we don't need.
I don't own a bench and stick to using hand barbells. Only have about 40lbs of weight on each hand, but after a few hundred presses my chest feels killer.
Congratulations on the 2500 plus subscribers! I am also one of your avid followers for quite some time now. Never thought of actually subscribing, also because you are in my recommended channels list anyway. Now I will subscribe though. Keep up the great work you are doing. And I bet before you know it 2500 subscribers looks like a small amount.
Thanks for the great videos! My favorite parts are when you cite actually studies to back up your assertions -- nobody else seems to do their research like you ('cept for maybe Scooby at times).
I like your videos very much! They are informative, easy to understand and very clean. There really is no need (in my opinion of course) for ''high production'' values when the content is great. Thank you for posting!
this reminds me of when i was doing squats. i had been doing them for a year was spotted by a pro which was good. i stepped away from the cage, without clasps, and i must have been off balance because i looked to the left and saw the weights slide off the bar which was on my shoulders. good thing my spotter noticed and slapped them back on. this shows that no matter how experienced you think you are, accidents can happen
@stjanki Great example! Something similar happened to me: I very much know how to do squats correctly, but one day was short on time and rushed through them with bad form. The headache I soon got taught me an important lesson.
@Evilcyber what about rolling draggin it to your stomach and then deadlifting it ? so much easier , i dont understand how people fail to realize such obivious things..
I feels like such an idiot for NEVER thinking of that! Gosh Now I feel so much safer moving big weight :D

@RoccoDaOne That is true! With a barbell and without even noticing it you can let the stronger side make up for the weaker.
