The music will cause you to relive memorable episodes of your life. And the fans seem mostly to be within the same mind-frame. Funny even though his vioce is gone he sounds better than those who pass for singers now. The music and talent of Steely Dan is timeless. They are a tight band much like how Little feat is tight . Two completely different styles but both great. Stan Kenton of Big Band jazz made a comment about Steelydan when playing at Towson State in the positive. He said they had a jazz sound that surpassed anyone else. I used to see him every year.

Man, Fagen's voice is really gone, isn't it? On all of these live clips from the 2000s, his voice sounds faint and weak, and he's relying completely on the chick singers to carry the higher notes.

He also sounded terrible when they did Do it Again at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame show in 02
