Sounds like another cash grab. I really enjoyed Avatar but why can't they just leave it at the first one and leave the "what happens next?" up to your imagination? The Matrix trilogy is a good example of a good thing ruined by sequels, along with many other movie franchises. Although Cameron's pretty good at sequels like T2 and Aliens, I think this is better left without a sequel, but that's my opinion. I'd rather he create a new idea, but who knows? The second one may be better.

I read somewhere that Cameron would like to explore the ocean aspects of Pandora in a sequel. How cool would it be to see Jake bond with an underwater creature and explore the ocean? He would be able to breath because he is breathing through the creature.
Honestly...the movie Avatar sucked. There was nothing original about the story. People only like it cause it has a great visual...but it is nothing more than a mix between Dances with Wolves and Pocahontas. A sequel? Your not wasting another 3 hours of my life.

He wrote the entire Avatar/Pandora story as a trilogy! hes already got it all planned out! dont think that the sequels are just Hollywood cashing in! Avatar is more similar to a book than an actual movie, in the way that it is so deep... it's not an average movie like Night at the Museum or Shrek; James Cameron created a huge, extremely complex world. Apparently, he will use the sequels to show some ocean action: marine creatures on Pandora, (Yay!) and, possibly, to explore the other moons around the planet that Pandora orbits.
Take Pocahontas.. change all the names and locations and make all the people blue. Make lots of money.
Make a sequel that's going to be just as bad, but still with blue people that will make money due to high expectations and no cinematic value whatsoever.

"Largely animated" here refers to CGI. The actors perform mostly in a green room, not out in a jungle, thus keeping the acting from being so "exhausting". There's no way James Cameron would not use his newly designed 3D camera for only the first one film. Look at his past movies...how many were cartoons?

now the directors know what they could do better. The special effects and the idea's were good, but this time the story needs to be even better! Long films need strong stories or else the get boring. I read somewhere that Cameron would like to explore the ocean aspects of Pandora in a sequel. How cool would it be to see Jake bond with an underwater creature and explore the ocean? He would be able to breath because he is breathing through the creature.

Honestly...the movie Avatar sucked. There was nothing original about the story. People only like it cause it has a great visual...but it is nothing more than a mix between Dances with Wolves and Pocahontas. A sequel? Your not wasting another 3 hours of my life.

I knew it, when i first time finished watching this movie I though "It has to be a sequel" or else James Cameron did one of the coolest movie in the whole planet with no purpose & meaning. I cant wait. As we know Jake became one of them and the big question was WHAT IS NEXT!???

He wrote the entire Avatar/Pandora story as a trilogy! hes already got it all planned out! dont think that the sequels are just Hollywood cashing in! This is basically Cameron's 'Cistine Chapel', he spent ages writng a story, hes not gonna let a bunch of Hollywood commerical sell outs ruin his 15 years of work.

Avatar is more similar to a book than an actual movie, in the way that it is so deep... it's not an average movie like Night at the Museum or Shrek; James Cameron created a huge, extremely complex world. And he, without a doubt, has a LOT more stuff in his head that nobody else knows about. Apparently, he will use the sequels to show some ocean action: marine creatures on Pandora, (Yay!) and, possibly, to explore the other moons around the planet that Pandora orbits.

Make a sequel that's going to be just as bad, but still with blue people that will make money due to high expectations and no cinematic value whatsoever.
Make a threequel that's going to make no sense and be about blue babies or some stupid crap like that, still make a shitton of money because of more high expectations.

"Largely animated" here refers to CGI. The actors perform mostly in a green room, not out in a jungle, thus keeping the acting from being so "exhausting". There's no way James Cameron would not use his newly designed 3D camera for only the first one film. Look at his past movies...how many were cartoons?

now the directors know what they could do better. The special effects and the idea's were good, but this time the story needs to be even better! Long films need strong stories or else the get boring. The first one made them a lot of money, so it's obvious they will try to get as much money out of it as they can bt making 2 others... we all know sequels often ruin good films, but let's hope for the best and see if they do a good job on the second and third ^^ For Lotr it turned out quite well :D

I think The Cameronator is gonna have the 2nd movie based on some sort of SEA DISASTER...either a man made one or a natural one. I mean we already know the second one is going to be sea based, and we also know he saw the BP people and the American Gov about the oil spill.....so maybe he was doing research lol. Who knows? @ditya97 when a film is shot back to back it can mean two things. Either:
a) whilst one film is being shot, they shoot some scenes for the following film and finish it off after the first one has gone through editing....
...or...
b) they film one film and then literally as soon as thats done and still whilst the previous one is in editing they film the next one.

I didn't like the movie, don't get why everyone is all "OMG! The best movie ever!" Of course the effects were cool but either way. I would prefer the name 'Avatar' to be with a Aang movie, as he IS the avatar. (I haven't seen M. Night's Avatar yet).
