Second off, tampa only signed 2 or 3 players to long term deals, pens signed a core, crosby malkin fleury whitney orpik and soon staal. Don't blame the recession far worse teams are selling their games out in the regular season in detroit. It is a factor, but it's not the entire thing. The eastern conference compared to the western conference is weaker. Too much talent out west, but the east does have great rivalries and the atlantic division is the best in the league, i back off of those comments.
