  • Only one camera angle. And so what about the mirrors in front.

  • This video gives me no energy. When I watch Dr Boa video i feel energy. Please remove this video to save your own reputation.

  • I have found that drinking miso while watching this video can bring greatness and full-time. One step make many and stones can be heavy.

  • Terrible positioning. Moving with the pelvis. This is wrong. This is the bogus crap that ruined Tai Chi...

  • Why there is other 3 people doing it? I am getting confused

  • No tai chi here, Tai chi is a martial art!

  • @UnknownFromHeaven Hehe, I agree with you ... is just a stupid video =))

  • Her English is good.

  • this is not tai-chi. this is shit

  • I don't know anything about Tai Chi , but the mirrors make the movements confusing and she needs to be wearing contrasting colors to the back ground Black on white so to speak, so she can be seen clearly, i could not see ot understand the moves at all. So disappointed as I need to do this in my home. uhg!!

  • Each and every practicioner is looking for a different energy depending upon the master who taught the skill. Her alignment reminds me of the way you use aikido energetics not making this form wrong just another variation of the many energies capable of being performed. this is very different from the energies I teach but within my growing I sensed this alignment within my tai chi. I think she is excellent. The alignment of aikido within the Tai Chi form.

  • 26 years ago, 3 years had already passed since Tricia Yu developed the physician-lauded ROM dance, an application of tai chi fundamentals directed at seniors and disabled with movement troubles. She's been teaching for nearly (over?) 40 years, and she may not look it, but is nearly 70 herself. She's literally given hundreds of people better lives ... what have you done? I think her form is beautiful, and her skill with the broadsword is amazing. Let's see your video/creds if feel you can critiqe

  • @galactiphat LMAO! All she did was give people an EXTERNAL movement, which I would have no problems with. HOWEVER, taiji is NOT physical. If this woman has been doing taiji for 40 years, she could very well be the WORST practitioner in the history of the art. She demonstrates NOTHING of what taiji is.

  • @balboafist Not quite right. It isnt the breathing method that prevents talking. When you actually are doing taiji, you dont want to talk as to do so will take you out of the sung state (if you dont understand that, you arent as good as you thought as it is the most basic of all of taiji). If you EVER see a teacher DOING (not teaching) taiji and they are jabbering away, walk out cause its garbage! This woman couldnt do taiji to save her life though.

  • That's pretty much like an occidental way of tai chi. The well being thing ^^ But has nothing to do with the real tai chi. The position are bad and movement are not finished. Just the end movement at 2:20 is a good demonstration... right leg must be more backward and is too bent. Same for the right arm, movement is not finished and normally must be pushing the upper body of the oppenent. The movement of the left arm must also be a parry. This is a Good relaxation method but not the martial art.

  • To the negative people, I seriously doubt you have studied any form of martial arts let alone Tai Chi. The fact that she can talk through this entire demonstration means that she is very good....tai chi is about breathe control. The movements in Tai chi are structured around breathing patterns...this is where the health benefits come from. As long as the inhale/ exhale is correct, having floppy hands makes absolutely no difference. Please refrain from making your childish, amatuerish comments

  • @88bigstar It is not negative people, it is garbage tai chi. This is worst than most and worse than that. Talking through the form is rubbish as IF you were really doing taiji, talking becomes something you dont want to do, but you'd know that if you did GOOD taiji! Oh, and I have studied martial arts AND taiji for 26 years. It is about time people on youtube called a spade a spade so maybe garbage like this doesnt get put up and passed on the the uneducated.

  • @gordhill taiji?

  • @halleljk Sorry. tai chi and taiji are just different ways of saying the same thing when you translate from chinese to english. I am no linguist and i honestly dont care which way the spelling is done. Let's not get hung up on the fact that this is GARBAGE no matter what language you talk about it in!

  • her spine ... oh my... her spine is so stiff...and her knees... her waist... no,no,no,no,no.... She needs some serious taiji lessons from a real master!!|

  • oh my god ..

    what the helll is this?

    this is horrible..

    This is not taiji.

I practice Taiji every day since about ten years under the supervision of a master who knows every aspect of taiji:Qi gong ,tuishou, applications, fa jin..

I ensure you this is not taiji! oh my God save us from this rubbish!!!

  • I disregard the child who posts negative remarks. This is a valuable lesson and we are thankful for the chance to participate.

  • Hello!!! It's call t'ai chi fundamentals, she modified this traditional art for the fragile elderly people with hip replacements, arthritis, stenosis etc. This is so that they can continue living a functional healthy life and not apply it to defend themselves.

  • Her form is very poor and she has no flow. Even though she is instructing she should still be fluid. I love the mirror idea; good for practicing.

  • i was going to stick up for this poor woman but she is poor and not very controlled.

  • Patricia Yu studied Chen Man Ching Tai Chi in China for many years. She is considered an excellent teacher of the form. The Chen Man Ching form does not focus on the martial aspects of Tai Chi. If you are looking for that, look elsewhere. Don't criticize the form here because you don't understand it.

  • @rpalmeri Just because she studied it in China doesn't mean she's good at it. Her movements are entirely devoid of the concept of Quan. Chen Man Ching's Taijiquan isn't this bad. This video is an example of how NOT to perform Taiji. No floppy hands, more waist rotation, and careful with that Western Taiji Knee...

  • it looks like chen man ching variant hence strange variation and extremely loose hands. i wouldnt say it is not tai chi but chen man ching took martial aspect out for health didnt he? although he did retain some of it.

  • i loged onto my account just so i could tell you, You suck. stupid bitch

  • Thanks for your insightful and worthy comment. Very mature! Very helpful! What are you, twelve years old?

  • This is terrible Taiji. Terrible waist movement, terrible foot placement and devoid of the martial aspect of Taiji.

  • @sniperdoc8404 Yeah, its kind of like what Americans do to traditional Chinese Food.. ; - )

  • hehe, don't do tai-chi in tight pants (not a good look). Apart from that this is not tai-chi. Tai-chi is a martial art, and each move has a martial application. This lady need to learn that relaxed does not mean floppy. In forward stance the front knee does not pass the toe and the back leg should end up straight. There are some ralley good tai-chi videos on here, this is not one.

  • I do not like being negative but your positions are not placed properly. Please do not try and reinvent Tai Chi. Watch your own video and see for yourself.

  • Perfect example of what not to do.

  • Go to Su Renfeng if you really want to see smootheeeeee

  • lol, what was this

  • This is appalling. All movement should be generated from the waist. Her pelvis is moving all over the place. No peng...no 10 essential points. THIS TYPE OF NONSENSENCE IS WHAT GIVED TAIJIQUAN THE HIPPY TAG...IT IS RUBBISH.

  • Taijimistress: You are right, even you may notice in the sequence of playing lute she says: "watch for the knee which shouldbe extented beyond the foot"..but she does...!!!!????

  • @taijimistress You are right ,It is rubbish, It really makes Tai chi look SOOO stupid, But Tai chi is still the most wonderful Martial there is.

  • @taijimistress You are right ,It is rubbish, It really makes Tai chi look SOOO stupid, But Tai chi is still the most wonderful Martial there is.

  • @taijimistress movements should not be generated from the waist but from the center which is bellow the waist the hips move by opening and closing and the body moves with the hips.

  • @taijimistress thanks for the heads up.

If some kind soul would point out a proper example for all of us INTERESTED noobies, that would be really cool.

  • @taijimistress Her arms are atrocious!! This is terrible and her feet are not evenly spaced...it's horrible...this is how Tai Chi stopped becoming a martial art...

  • I thought you tai chi lot were supposed to be chilled.....mmmm i don't think so

  • Tai Chi? More like Kung Fu or something?

  • :DDDDDDD!!!!!

  • crap!!

  • OMG....wtf=????

  • Wtf is this?

    She has butchered Tai Chi.

    Punch? Jesus.

  • She is just pointin gout certain techniques embedded in the form. chill, man

  • I agree this is NOT TAI CHI OR ANY OTHER art form

  • What´s that???? It looks like Tai Chi, but it is´nt. True Tai Chi follows basic principles! The weighting is disastrous and eased strength (Sung) is replaced by slackness. Exact what masters of the Tai Chi called "Tofu Tai Chi". Caution, this footwork is bad for the knee joints. It doesn't help the health in this way.

  • I wonder if she actually ever studied Tai Chi? it seems very awkward and strained as if she had never done it before

    no energy at all

    arms seem completely without life

  • No offense but NOBODY should learn Tai Chi using this video! Nothing seems to be flowing.

the demonstrator needs to re-learn everything from a real Tai Chi master.

Keep up the spirit though...good work.

  • Yeah. What the two previous dudes said.

  • No Yi, no neigong here... All external. Pretty lame. Bet she doesn't even know what "heavy elbows" means. One can easily hear her quick and uneasy breaths that result from unwanted tension and overexertion. She seems to be ill, seriously. This is bull. Go watch some with with Ma Hong or Chen Yu if you're looking for real Taiji...

  • i would NOT want to have her knees did you see how much she is torking it? stuff like this is why people think tai chi is like this. THIS IS NOT TAI CHI it is HIPPY CHI.... and if she does not change the way she holds her foot and knee she will need surgery.

  • I agree.....martial arts increases self awareness and should help you become more discipline.....and if does not ......then you are not paying close attention.....remember great discipline is the key to great living....try meditation....with it and see what happens

  • 785tt9gh martail arts is not about revenge its about self defence you should never abuse what has been taught.

  • Is tai chi good for fighting? I have a revenge in mind but I dont think tai chi is going to help much.

  • Comment removed

  • it'll help you with removing that hideous thought

  • I love the ignorance here! She clearly says when she does Brush knee NOT to have knee past big toe, and then she proceeds to do that very thing the rest of the clip! Follow her at your own peril!

  • that' s not ignorance, but lack of practice

  • Its pure ignorance! Her entire form is utter garbage. I doubt if she even understands what the yin/yang symbol is, never mind that it is present in EVERY posture.

  • Hi guys I have a question if you have muscular dystrophy and can do some of the moves would Tai chi help you and also if you have a verybad judgement problem and anger issues would this help you to become more peacefull and one with your inner self.

I'm not sure about muscular dystrophy for trying this out so im wondering on your point

    thanks and please do help.

  • I' d say you have to overcome at least some of your anger .. I only practice tai chi for one year now, and don' t feel that it helps to relieve anger; i do some boxing and cardio fitness for relief (of my anger) .. Tai Chi does help me to find peace, which helps to keep the anger away... remember that besides ying you are also yang ...

  • You dont do tai chi to relieve anger. Anger is an issue with internal stuff. In order to change anger, change your diet. One year is very young still. If you follow this lady, you will NEVER get to what you want in tai chi. Yes, she is that bad.

  • She has got fairly good leg strength, but there is no extension in her body, even internally. Tai chi is about asking the body to do more, this is very gentle and not much of a challange.

  • time 2.29 yours are my love and before that you put your head back

  • Would tai chi be effective for somebody that suffers from panic attacks?

  • yes i think is would help a lot

  • Yes.

Controlling the sympathetic nervous system through callisthenics like Tai Chi and Yoga helps calm the mind and ultimately give the person greater control of their mood.

Balance on the outside cultivates balance on the inside.

    Namaste

  • i beleve that tai chi would be very effective for some one who has panic attacks because over time tai chi can make you an expert in the art of relaxtion and it also teaches you greater mind and body control.

  • i know this may be trivial, but i believe "pipa" is more common than "lute"

    I won't say anything else.

  • Soon this lady will get some serious knees problems. Her knees over her toes too much

  • Thank You for posting this!

  • Just... what kind of Tai Chi IS this?

  • This is the simple one to begin.

  • tai chi is amazing. wow! thanks.

i did what you show and i feel awakened!

im amazed. its so easy ive got a shift in my conciousness and i feel im aware of life. I have finally awakened! im alive.

  • @georgerav tai chi isnt easy.......

  • @georgerav no...you are high!
