The version of this song used in the movie "Final Destination 3" Is by the LetterMEN.. The Lettermen recorded it in 1962 for Capitol records just after Glen Campbell did.. The Bee Gees and The Vogues did it later.
It's not YouTube's fault - record companies, publishers and artists are fighting back because they are losing money hand over fist because of illegal downloading and file sharing. I know because my department at one of the "majors" was outsourced because of declining sales.
I remember going to the Pink Panther in Reynoldsville,Pa. to see them when I was 15.One kissed my hand and I wouldn't wash the top of my hand for a week.Always a touching song to my heart.
Maybe today's youth should be creeped out by the way the world has gotten to be... but back in our day, there was nothing creepy about a song like this, it is romantic and beautiful, unselfish and giving.
When I was 7-8 years old I went with my dad on his vending machine route, jukeboxes, pinballs, pool tables etc... Lots of bands were trying to make it & they would give us their 45s to put on the jukeboxes for exposure. Those 45s werent perfect sometimes off beat and a little pitchy but sounded so good not always perfect. Just like life was then it was okay not to be perfect. Today they have to be perfect with everything. In the summer a jukebox would go out on the patio & we would dance.
Ok i heard this in final destination and im lik WTF im thinkin this cant be a real song who wud make a stalker song lik this and i HAD to find it the song creeps
I see why you think its a stalker song. In my time our minds didnt go there. It was more innocent & fun and cost nothing. like friends, sock hops, cars & sweet memories. I built a room that goes into the twilight zone circa 50 & 60s. It has a 40s soda fountain, booths, wallbox, 59 seeburg Jukebox, theater, popcorn machine, wall phone & graffiti, elvis, gumby & pokey. I am restoring a 59vette. Just need one cruise & go to sockhop and my life is complete. So glad we got to live it.
star15748, I'm with you. I can see where the younger kids think it's a stalker song, but when it was written, it was really meant to be a "boy begging/pleading with girl" sort of thing.
You're showing your age, Feuerstern100 and BitchbyNovocaine. At the time this song was on the charts, that sort of thing didn't scare girls. It flattered them. It was a different time. See if you can get your grandparents to explain it to you. ;)
What a beautiful song to tell your sweetheart how much you love him/her on this special occasion called Valentines Day. I used it as part of a five song dedication tribute to my wife on our wedding day. We're no longer together but we're still best of friends and do each other favors. I would like to thank musikskaparen for posting it, and it's definitely one of the best versions in all of you tube. Enjoy and I hope you will share it with all your loved ones and friends!!
Hey Miriam thank you for your opinion, I never saw the movie but I do know the song first charted back in the 60s when I was a teenager & always liked it & for that reason dedicated it to my wife on our wedding day with 4 other songs. If you're not fond of it then why add it to your favorites? Your interpretation of this song is totally opposite of mine but I can see where you're coming from. I like to say the glass is half full, maybe you say half empty so it's ok to be different, Thanks again!
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this version doesn't sound like th eone i remember. And the Vogues were a thro wback to the 50s group, but actually recorded in the late 60s and the 70s.
This definitely is not the original Vogues, the opening of this song when they sang it has a really great percussion/drum opening. If you want to hear the original recording do a Google search for the Rhapsody Player program then do a search for The Vogues. There are many of their recordings on Rhapsody. This was one of those really great vocal groups from the 1950's.
(1of4)Somewhere in the early 2000's Chuck Blasko, original second tenor in the Vogues, lobbied Congress to change the trademark laws to prevent others from misrepresenting themselves as being original artists. Blasko was then performing with other artists as "Chuck Blasko's Five O'clock World Reunion."
(2of4) In March, 2007 Hugh Geyser, who had briefly toured with Blasko's group the year before, is now touring the country with the trademark Vogues Blasko continues to perform as "Chuck Blasko And The Vogues" in the 14 Western Pennsylvania counties that were awarded to him by the courts.
(3of4))Today, both groups contain original members of The Vogues and as of May, 2008 original lead vocalist Burkette has joined Geyer touring the country with the trademark Vogues. The current performing members include Burkette, Geyer, Jim Campagne, Stan Elich, and Troy Elich on vocals.
(4of4)Rounding out the group is Tom Lamb (guitar and Musical Director), Artie Delonardis (drums), Dean Mastragelo (keybroards) and Rich Gooch (bass). The only one who seems to be missing from the original group is Don Miller, baritone. The original group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall Of Fame in 2001 and the music goes on.
I guess you people just don't get it. For the last time, yes this song is by The Vogues, just not the orginial Vogues. I'm from Pittsburgh (just like the originals) and I've seen and heard the originals 100's of times. and this is not THE VOGUES from Pittsburgh, PA. But all you nay sayers out there believe what you want to believe.
It's the same song, just not the same guys singing it. Listen to the beginning of this version. Where are the drums? Listen to the echo part near the end. It's not the same as on the original recording. Watch the video posted by "catbaby58". Listen to the story about the drums told by Hugh Geyer the original 1st tenor in the beginning and listen to the echo part he sings, Where are the drums in this version? Do the echo parts sound the same? NO WAY! I know more about Vogues than you can imagine
260MP69-- I have the Rhino compilation of all the 'original' Vogues songs and I'm sure they get blocked by YT, as Rhino is owned by the wonderful WMG. Since this isn't the original recording, it won't get blocked.
You are partially right. It is by The Vogues, just not the orginial Vogues. The group singing this version is a bunch of replacement singers that worked for John Boyle , who bought the name and trademarked it, and contained NO orginial members of The Vogues. It sounds okay, but get a CD of The Vogues on Rhino records and listen to the difference. And no, you didn't say it was written for FD3, some other poor misinformed guy said that.
This version is NOT done by the orginial Vogues. This was recorded by the first of many "trademark" groups that owned the name but had no original members. Todays "trademark" group includes original lead Bill Burkette and first tenor Hugh Geyer. And this song was NOT written for Final Destination 3, it was written by Jerry Capehart back in the sixties.
Spectacular harmonizing by some great vocalists who were also very easy on the eyes. Perfect slow dancing song. Wherever you are these days, guys, best wishes and THANK YOU for all the truly great, soothing but lively tunes.
You only find it creepy if you watch Final Destination Three; They sing it in like a creepy way and stuff like that. But if you listen to this and read the lyrics, it's not creepy at all :)
if i heard some one walking behind me i would pee myself and hug the person then they would want to run away and then there would be no one walking by me XD
Lol... it's in finial destination 3. If you've watched it.. you'd probably understand how people get so damn creeped out with this song. I know I certainly did.
i love the intro! it's so R&B. this is a very beautiful song, and sung so well. to bad it was used in a scary movie . if you could feel the song as intended you would feel the love! so many are missing out, what a shame. peace&love

The same thing happened with 'We've Only Just begun" after 1408.
