@InaneRex There's nothing "solipsist" about the quote. He started it off with "As far as I'm concerned...." In other words, he's not saying that there is LITERALLY no universe outside his mind, he's saying that his consciousness of it does not exist before his life or after his death.
Yeah, I admire the man in many ways. What really disturbed me was the part when he talked about death, because now the man is dead. And I don't think he went "poof" either. To me, the pertinent question is, "Where is he?"

Well. I refuse to speak for Arthur, but reading what he wrote, I find it hard to believe he was a solipsist.
The principles he used to build his machines, certainly exist outside his mind.
His quote about the: "When I die, it is not me who ends, it is the world" (paraphrased, of course) is quite interesting though.
I corresponded, briefly, with one of his sons. Didn't seem like a happy fellow.
