I will say that I am kinda christian. But I dislike most all worship music. But this is music that anyone can enjoy no matter your religion. Just that damn good.
I am so not into "Christian Music", I came across this band from a recommendation of a friend, so I thought I would take a listen. They are really good, I am impressed with their musicianship and their use of autistic guitar, and all the other ways they have used the styles of music that have influenced them. I would buy their stuff because it is worth having.
This is one of my 3 most favorite Christian contemporary songs, because it rocks! I also like "Little Man" by the O.C. Supertones, and "I live for you", by Rachel Lampa. Jon Gibson's "Jesus loves ya" would be #4!
Alguém sabe se esta banda ainda está na ativa? Quais seus álbuns além de Anybody Out There? Valeu. No mais o som desses caras é bem pra cima muito bom!
What an anomaly...this band comes out of nowhere, produces one of the most unique and powerful Christian albums of all time, and disappear as quickly as they appeared.
You do realize, don't you, that rock & roll IS the devil's music? Remember in the last 100 years or when there was that yawning gulf in black music between 'church/spiritual' and 'blues' music? If it was up to closed-minded church people, the blues (and, therefore, rock & roll), wouldn't even exist...
I'll be the first one to tell you the church is full of hypocrites, but not all Christians are like that. Nowhere in the Bible does it say anything against rock music.
Now, let me ask you a question. I believe in God, and my life couldn't be happier. I'm not saying that's an if/then statement, it's just true. Now, I know you'll say "Ignorance is bliss" or something else typical of Christian haters, but are you happy? Do you just live your life to tear down people who are different from you?
You're not getting it (esp. the gospel/blues analogy). I believe in smashing boundaries. If you say only Christians can go to Heaven (which apparently you do, since you identify yourself as one), you automatically damn the rest of the world. That I cannot abide. God revealed himself to Mohammed, Jesus, Moses, the Buddha- all equally. You'll never understand unless you know to them all..
P.S.- Go read the Tao Te Ching- it's the best sacred text in the world (partly cos its not w/ a church)
I'm sorry, I didn't know that you knew all the answers to life's questions. I didn't mean to offend you.
I don't have any desire to talk to someone who ignores everything I say/ask, insults my lifestyle without ANY idea about the way I live, and beats me over the head with mishmash religious beliefs. You can't even show respect for your fellow man, much less claim to know everything there is to know about religion. Call me when you get off your pedestal. God/Allah/Shiva/Satan bless.
And you enjoy immersing yourself in an apocalyptic bronze age myth. You made a lot of assumptions about what I said- I was just trying to help. I didn't ignore anything- perhaps you misread my statements. We live in the south & have to work extra hard to overcome all the ignorance (it ain't the heat, it's the stupidity). And BTW- you should read the Bhagavad Gita & the Qu'ran as well- I said the TTC b/c its the most concise. And you'll never understand Jesus til you study Buddhism...
By the way, it is EXTREMELY telling that when i mentioned Buddhism, Hinduism & Islam your automatic association was Satanism ("God/Allah/Shiva/Satan bless" I believe you said?). That's really sad & just underlines all the more how ignorant most Americans are of the rest of the world. You're in college now, man. Open your mind.
Mmhm, and what makes Satanism any less of a legitimate religion? I thought we were supposed to be "smashing boundaries" (I believe you said)? In that case, how can we dismiss the Satanists, Scientologists, etc.? Maybe they hold some divine truth as well. Remember to open your mind.
Wow. What a stellar attempt to get over me. How could I ever see that coming?
You either don't understand what I'm saying, or (more likely) you're just acting like a twat because you're one of the 85% or so of humans who are so lazy that they automatically assume that the religion of the cultural matrix they're born into JUST SO HAPPENS to be the "TRUE" faith. Awfully convenient- and you don't have to think at all!
BTW- Plato AND Aristotle? WOW. Yr, like sooo educated, doo0d. lmfao
Whatever, dude. You're the one who complained that this wasn't an 'actual' debate, & now you're bitching out by being a smartass. Which is good for you, I suppose, because you won't have to endure me tearing your reasoning to shreds.
Sorry to intrud on your debate, but I like to argue too, and I know without a doubt that Jesus is the only way to heaven. It says so in the Bible, and maybe you're like some I know, and say, "Oh, some guy was bored and wrote the Bible" but the Bible mentions stuff that scientists didn't find out until the 1900's. Maybe you want to open your mind to Christianity, 'cause with God there is no fence sitting, either you're saved or you're not.
You don't realize that the bible isn't the only one that does that.
And anyway,- god is the unity of all things. Any divisions you perceive are in your tiny monkey brain and yours alone. Don't pawn your ignorant xenophobic paranoia off on the infinite.
And besides, why do you want to condemn me for loving god so much that I want to see it through every culture's eyes?
planetary I'm not trying to condemn you but save you. I suppose you'll probably never believe me, but should that stop me from trying. And you have the right to try to convince me of you faith(s).
But you see, I think God is loving and that I should try to be like him. Being like God is not saying people have monkey brains(that's the evolution religon) and calling them cowards.
Please give me an example of the of books that give facts that folks didn't know before.
Totally devout. But I'm guessing your being sacastic. But hey, I think your something like me, stubborn to the very end. So, you won't beleive me, that's your choice. At least I let you know what I beleive.
I'm a person too, I know how to think, and I do. And, actualy, I was born 14 years ago. I know my stuff. And leaving the theological discussions to the grownups? I don't think so. In some ways, I think I'm more mature than you. You don't see me going around and calling people cowards and having monkeybrains, do you? You don't have to be an adult to read and think.
I believe that Jesus is the one and only way to heaven.
You can have an 'opinion', but that's all. I'm not being dismissive to you personally- you simply haven't been around long enough to acquire not only the knowledge base but the wisdom to even be able to formulate an informed thought on the single most important and vexing subject ever known.
Being 14 & saying "I know the answer- it's Jesus" is basically like saying that you're on the same intellectual level as Steven Hawking- you feel me?
Yeah, I get your point, but it's pretty hard to judge someone you don't know personally. Well, I did tell you my opionin, so I don't think there's much else I could do. I just have a question, are you from the masonic church? and if you look at God through all the religions, where do you think you go when you die?
I belong to nothing. (cool that you sussed the Masons as being more church than club, though)
When you die, you go the same place as everything else does. I don't believe in hell (just a tool for behavior modification). There is no damnation. All beings return to the source eventually...
Must be horrible. I personally love the thought of heaven and have no doubts about hell, but whatever. Must be hard some days not thinking that you're going anywhere when you die.
Anyway it seems our argument is over, so if I offended you any, I'm sorry, but I hope that you thought about what I said.
Therefore, returning to the source IS going to heaven.
The only difference is there is no hell behind you. Basically you either proceed to heaven or hang out here in the lesser dimensions (yes, kids, its time to apply dimensional physics to spiritual constructs...).
okay, whatever. I'm not in the mood to argue about where we go when we die. I just know that what the bible says is true. And that this song is amazing.
Okay, I say I wasn't in the mood, not that I didn't want to discuss. It was my way of saying later. And I can't explain the way I know, I just do. Like when I went to this worship and speaker sevice thing, you could feel the Holy Spirit in the room.
Okay- so you feel a spiritual presence in the room. When your brain searched its memory banks for confirmation of the sense data it was receiving, it came back with 'the Holy Spirit' because that's the only thing that anybody's told you it could be. But what if it was just god, plain & simple? You were exposed to a certain kind of energy & the people there told you it was Jesus or teh Holy Spirit when really it's just god (not God, you dig?)- the same god that people feel all over the world.
Actually, no. That's not what anybody's told me it could be, and well, there have been other cases, but I've just never told anyone, and I'm not going to post it on YouTube, so you'll just have to believe me.
Oh, Planetary! I'm so glad you're still around! I read your comment 3 months ago, and have prayed for you on and off since then. I'm glad to see you're still asking questions.
Have you read any of C.S. Lewis' books? Not the Narnia books, altough I love those, but "Mere Christianity". It might explain things in a way you can understand since it was written on an intellectual level. The difference in following Jesus should be the change it makes in you. Listen to 'Shine' by the Newsboys.
I'll keep you in my prayers. Let me know if there's anything in particular. Obviously I can't make any guarantees. God is not answerable to me, but he loves you as much as He loves me, so who knows what He might do.
I wouldn't dare. That whole concept is what I'm trying to help us move away from.
(Like, the entire theology debate is rooted in the presupposition that you believe in Something that's bigger & smarter than you. It is, therefore, certain folly to even attempt to define that which by it's nature is beyond any and all definitions you may have for it.)
That said, the answer to your question would be related to E=mc2 & source field potentialities...
Well, that, I guess is my point. You called me a god, with your tongue tucked neatly in your cheek, no doubt. You don't even know me, other than lumping into your preconception of Christian. I just had to laugh.
I had hoped you'd be too intelligent to define god or God. I can tell you most certainly that I am neither.
And I definitely believe in that 'Something' as strongly as I believe in oxygen keeping me breathing.
Why? I would need much more the '300 characters' to explain.;) back to u
I didn't call you A god. I called you god (& I was serious, thanks). You are to god as water molecule is to ocean. Period.
As far as a relatable concept in Christianity, it's like the true mystical meaning of the Trinity- father, son, spirit, right? But it's not about 'Jesus'. Basically, it's a cosmology. You have god, man, and the spirit which unites, and all three are one. In other words, there is nothing that is not god. Or, in mathematical terms, E=mc2.
I have to disagree (surprise?). Yes, there is the Trinity. And man, being made in His image is a triune being (body, soul, spirit), but not everything is god. Only an example. Somewhat like your water molecule/ocean example.
You remind me of a friend who proved in his logics class that there was no difference between a door and an orange. Theory is fun to play with, but I wouldn't want to eat the door.
Okay, the 'nothing is not god' thing? That's not an opinion. That's science.
I find your likening me to some dumb kid in a logics class highly offensive. I am talking about hard science here. Put bluntly- if you don't understand how science & religion(s) are dovetailing at the moment, it's possible you are underinformed on both subjects.
Let me ask you this- what is your understanding of Christian cosmology as it stands?
Please don't be angry. The 'dumb kid' was in a university and a wonderful human being.
I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you that I'm not anywhere near as educated as you. As far as cosmology goes, I believe that God created everything. The world is too well laid out and intricate for it not to be "Intelligent Design". A blade of grass is amazing, much less the human eye or our solar system, etc.
Please don't be offended. I thought you had a good sense of humor. I won't rib you. 4give?
Wow. Great comeback. You've completely destroyed my argument. (anyway, if you wanted to prove Christians lack cognitive skills- congratulations, you succeeded.
On the whole "Christian Music" thing- South Park did an episode where Cartman started a Christian band & it says everything I would, so just go watch it instead of making me type all this crap out.
No one really attacked you. You made a statement that was, well, pretty much wrong according to just about anyone. I know many atheists, agnostics, etc. who listen to "Xian" music because they enjoy it, not because they feel it attacks their beliefs (or lack thereof). There are so many talented, even revolutionary Christian artists out there, and they don't all bash you over the head with songs about Jesus. They can be about anything, just like secular songs; but with a more wholesome message.
Anyone, huh? From Decatur to Mississippi- you MUST know.
You're never going to understand god (or jesus, for that matter) unless you understand all the religions that came before. It's like water, aqua, l'eau, wasser- all the same, right? things look different based on where you are. Cultures describe things differently because of who they are. You need ALL of the views to build an accurate 3-D (4-D, actually) model. Stop reading that tired old book & hie thee to a library & a physics lab.
I live in Texas, sport. I KNOW what lies between Decatur & Mississippi State- NOTHING! I also know how much cultural variety there is (again, none). You live in the asshole of civilized thought, so don't just assume 'everyone' thinks something just because the yokels around you do.
Great song, despite the limited understanding of the Bible it portrays. The Bible is more than just basic instructions. It's God making Himself known to us.
This is such a good song... and it took me forever to realize Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth is an acrostic (I guess?) for BIBLE. I find that cool (that it's BIBLE not that it took me awhile to realize it..
I will say that I am kinda christian. But I dislike most all worship music. But this is music that anyone can enjoy no matter your religion. Just that damn good.

I find your likening me to some dumb kid in a logics class highly offensive. I am talking about hard science here. Put bluntly- if you don't understand how science & religion(s) are dovetailing at the moment, it's possible you are underinformed on both subjects.
Let me ask you this- what is your understanding of Christian cosmology as it stands?
planetery 3 years ago
Please don't be angry. The 'dumb kid' was in a university and a wonderful human being.
I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you that I'm not anywhere near as educated as you. As far as cosmology goes, I believe that God created everything. The world is too well laid out and intricate for it not to be "Intelligent Design". A blade of grass is amazing, much less the human eye or our solar system, etc.
Please don't be offended. I thought you had a good sense of humor. I won't rib you. 4give?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Only Christians would complain & "thumbs-down" me for what was, essentially, a compliment.
As Hank Hill said: "You're not making Christianity better, you're just making rock & roll worse."
Plus, secular songs sing about EVERYTHING. Xian songs just talk about, well, Jesus.

you don't know anything...

Peace be upon you! L'chaim! :D

All I know is all of my above statements have been attacked & 'thumbs-downed.'
Really Christian of you people...
planetery 3 years ago

You call church people close-minded, but I'm ignorant just because I live in the South? Who's close-minded now?
bronzemedal97 3 years ago
