Love this song! I remember the first time I saw the US version on tv and was hooked! Bought all 5 seasons! I knew there was the UK version, but I never really bothered to look it up, but a couple weeks ago I couldn't sleep so I thought I'd just watch whatever was on tv. Then I saw Queer as Folk! I was like Sweet! But it wasn't the US one and I was just about to switch the channel and then Stuart Alan Jones walked on screen.......Now I'm hooked all over again! >,<
One listen, and I'm instantly 17 again, secretly watching this exciting liberation of a show while my family was asleep...on Tuesday nights if memory serves.
@adri041195 Ummm.. No! As has previously been said, Channel Four commissioned two more series, but the writers decided to stop while they were still on top (so to speak), and ended it on a high. I love both the UK and US versions, personally, but we do have to remember that the US version is based originally on the UK version, so without it there would be no Brian, Mikey etc! It is a UK original series!
@adri041195 Just because something is long running does not automatically make it better. The UK series didn't get cancelled. It was actually commissioned for another series however the writers choose to end it as they felt they'd told the story they wanted to tell and didn't want to drag it out for all it was worth.
Not as good US series? HA! Yeah right! The US series is way better! Hotter, too! Brian and Justin are fucking gods (especially Brian). And the acting is TONS better. -3 BRIAN AND JUSTIN!
If anyone is interested...back in 1999 the Cast from QAF did a wonderful charity event for me. They were kind enough to do The Walk For Life for CRUSAID. I was the Celebrity Co-ordinator and I can assure you all...they are all very nice. Still keep in contact with them after all these years. Cool!
@silverdraco35 it wasnt cancelled they were comissioned to do two more series but the creators thought it would be best to quit while they were ahead. they then decided to do a series on the lesbians but that didnt go ahead. it wouldnt work now anyways have you seen Charlie Humman recently (nathan) looks to straight to play a gay role now haha!
@TheDrexito@xkadie999x will you not bicker on my video :-p HAHA. The US season I think lacked the close the knuckle finger biting parts and taboo. Like proper sex scenes that would embarrass you in front of ur parents n also were British and bias (+ i live 20mins from Canal St - the set) lol The US just lacked a certain umph about it n the writer of UK version was asked to do more seasons but wanted to quit while a head and not draw it out to much. It was short and sweet and never gets boring.
I LOVE this series. It was great watching it and seeing places like Canal Street. I live in a place where there are no gay bars and hardly anyone is open about their sexuality. I'm all alone, lol.
too right xx why do american networks always do that, take amazing british shows and make them as rubbish as possible just so they can have american actors and american culture in it. it's not even like we do it to their tv series, we watch the stuff they make xx
as i'm sure you can tell this is one of my pet hates but i will spare you the rest of the rant (and belive me there is a lot more of it) and post my comment =D
@xkadie999x OMG... you daft fool. Have you even watched the US version? It was FAR better than ours. I'll grant you that most things the yanks have done that were ours were shite, but their version of QAF just walked all over ours. Better plotine, better writing, better character development, better cinematography, hotter guys (WAY hotter), and just overall way, WAY cooler than our series. This is one time, if you're being realistic, you'll have to admit the Yanks did a better job.
@Berus7777 Yes I was a bit of a daft fool at the time I wrote this comment. I still have to disagree I don't think the US version was better. I think they were two very different shows. The way America does TV is so drastically different to way the UK does it, it's a little unfair to compare them.
However I will give you better cinematography and hotter guys. Randy Harrison....there are no words. ;P
I think the US also had really good "Moments", like the king of Babylon and the prom.
@Berus7777 I agree with xkadie999x. US version is more pleasant to the eye. But better written? If I wanted people to see what gay people are I would go with UK version all the way. The original Queer as folk was a portrait of real gay people. Us version was hollywood style, full of caracthers who we dream to be or to know, but never will. And I am yet to know a place where we could meet. And ironically UK series is based on a real place, US series is based in a place that doesnt exist.
the only version that are available are where people have cut and rejoined the song and it doesn't sound right, this is how the song was released I'm afraid. I like Vince talking in it though! Thanks for watching!!
