You know why he made a great bad guy?

Because he had real depth.

It wasn't just "I hate everything and I want to destroy it."

The series really took great care to portray his inner struggles as he tried to find the answers to his existence, and finally his own personal "salvation," as it were. Even as a kid i remember sympathizing with him, which is what made Digimon- and all the 90's cartoons- so great.

I also noticed someone once compare Blackwargreymon to Mewtwo, and I agree: They both were shadows(Of Wargreymon and Mew, respectively) and they weren't/aren't* evil, they were confused and didn't know where they belonged.

*=(Mewtwo's the only one who didn't die. Why Blackwargreymon, why?)

I love BWG he's one of the coolest digimon ever! He was made from those control spires, but he was like a real digimon so I wonder if he will be reborn again from a digi-egg? I sure hope so.
