Yes, the Phoenix or any other glider can be flown by a pilot who has had his medical revoked or denied. There are many pilots, including professional airline pilots, who have known of this for many years. So all of you type 3's out there (must fly, no choice in the matter), who have lost your medicals, get your glider rating. Anyone who says you can't has not done their glider homework!
Ummm - NO. I work for a regional flight surgeon. If you have been revoked, denied, or withdrawn, you are HOSED! U Can't Fly SQUAT (maybe a hang glider or parasail?). And guess what - - if you DO fly one of these things and aren't eligible to do so - your insurance carrier will deny any claim you might make - so better not fall out of the sky!
Is it true that I can legally fly a glider if I've lost my medical? I thought you have to get permission to fly from the FAA once a medical has been failed. Am I wrong?
Also, it seems foolhardy to forgo tailwheel training if you're gonna fly THIS!
@stepmart1863 You would probably have to contact Jim Lee at Phoenix Air USA to get an exact price. As with most LSA you can expect the price to be in the 100k range depending on available options.
Id want to see a view seated in the cockpit... because I dont know if it was just me, but the seats seemed pretty low so that you dont have much visibility on your 12... maybe I am mistaken, but thats something I noticed while watching this.
@pedroca2424 As its a tail dragger the view you see in the video is a bit deceptive as the nose sits higher when its on the ground. In flight you would have a great view over the instrument panel and all round from that large bubble canopy. Also, because of the Rotax engine up from the nose of the aircraft is very short, You would be amazed at how much you can see over the nose.
One price, get two aircraft. It's great!

Cruise at 105 and 111 knots with long and short wings respectively. Not a ton of difference, I guess. Cost $149k to $169k.

How can we take his word that it is a good aircraft and fun to fly if we can't see a demonstration?
