  • hello

  • Thats not right. I can take critique and I just expres my opinion here, if you dont like its your thing. Everyone has right for his opinion. If i like some video or audio I say some nice things. You wrong when you say that I only say bad things. All best to you.

  • Stop he-he, plz. True reason of this fault is that these heavenly sounds ought to be made by the organ, not by piano. Visit YouTube account pbenedicto, plz

  • ah ah....ueeeei??

    What is this, breck dance?

  • Oh, , Glenn Gould, I mean. Sorry

  • Sublime. Le prélude est incroyable. La musique est magnifique et le jeu sublime. je ne connaissais pas Corneliu Gheorghiu. C'est une découverte. Merci mille fois!

  • compelling performance.

  • the solitude grown by a language so few still speak ...

invite the young to your school seems to be the only way -

and their hearts throb a bit faster... yet there's nobleness in all ages :)

  • near Heven!

  • God what tempo is writen in scores... here on youtube evryone plays the tempo what they like??!?!?

  • @predoje Music is feeling. Everybody has own feeling.

  • @MomirMoma i agree but a serious pianist must respect composers...

  • @predoje Sorry, but to me, it's rather you people who drive me crazy talking about tempo all the time in You TUbe, like you know better.

You may like or dislike any tempo, but I believe there is no such thing like "the right tempo".

I personally don't like much slower performance on this piece. They often sound too romantic and kill poetry within. But I won't say that is wrong. As long as you love music, there is a respect in anything you play.

Your respect is certainly not mine.

  • @ttwiligh7 There is a right tempo, are you music educated? Composers write in what tempo should be compositions.

  • @predoje Oh, C'mon.....this much difference is pretty common in this field, not even extreme like Glenn Goud (I'm a big fan of him by the way) If thempo destroys its beuty, I must agree, but This is simply beautiful.

I care what I feel more than your educational talk. If everybody rigidly follows your metronome, and plays the same song at the same tempo, which I think even composers themselves wouldn't expect, there would be NO FUN. So who do you like in You Tube? Kiss? or nobody?

  • @ttwiligh7 music is No fun. And its not my metronome its compositiorss. If you dont respect composer then your playing is amateur.

  • @predoje You call this guy an amateur?

I don't think many people agree with you.

Musicians are not as stubborn as you, I believe. Now answer my question.

Who do you like for this? Is Michael Murray an amteur as well? How about Gyula Kiss?

  • @ttwiligh7 Dont know for them but for sure you sound like amateur.

  • @predoje

They are on right here on You Tube. All I know is you cannot answer a sigle question, taking 4 months. You even cannot say who you like. Because you don't know much and you are so afraid of getting criticized. You don't know Murray. Don't make me laugh.

Your comments are nothing but to mock at others, using very single tool. Typical of ignorant snob.

Now, just go away and don't bother those of us who love this performance. Nobody cares who you call what.

  • music is fun and more. And there is letter and there is spirit. And there is musiclover and there is musicjailer. I really love this music, and this pianist. The right tempo is the right music.

  • @predoje

Tempo is Andantino, but this player plays it a bit too fast for me..

  • although the recording ,technically, is mediocre, the playing and performance is superior ..thank you !!

  • mother, where are thou?

  • Splendide ! Très belle interprétation sensible et intelligente ! Bravo !

  • I like your sound

  • You performance is great. I loved it.

  • please play with more feeling, it sounds too robotic

  • totally agree. i can't understand why professional musicians play this in strict 9/8 meter, whereas the composer clearly states "espressivo", "cantabile e dolce" on the score. Add to that, he was the master of rubato playing...

  • 2:32. No comments.

  • You are a great artist indeed, monsieur. Aside from the wonderfully beautiful playing of this piece, your conception of it in this form, as a work for piano rather than as a transcription of a composition for organ, is simply stunning. You have brought tears to my eyes and warmth to my heart, Thank you.

  • If you like this piece of music, you should if you want, listen the interpretation of "Olivier de Spiegeler plays Cesar Franck". I let you appreciate or not.

  • I like this performance very much!

Since I usually prefer the Organ version now I found yours truly competitive with that one.

    Congratulation!

Are you a relative of the great M°Valentin? I knew him in Bolzano but I know M° Stefan very well, I met him in Bucharest when I came to conduct many times.

  • I read on your profile that you are 85 years old.

Maybe one more reason to appreciate your style, too noble to be a young pianist.

Where can I find your recordings?

Did you record anything for Electrecord?

Next time I come to Romania I have to look for your performances on CD.

Thanks again for this precious discovery.

  • Thank you indeed for your kind words!

No, Valentin, his brother Stefan and myself we are not relatives but we know eachother very well as, beeing for many years soloists of the Bucharest Philarmonic Orchestra, we shared the honour to play on the same stage of the Romanian Atheneum. As often as Valentin comes to Brussels, we meet again with great pleasure.

  • Unfortunately, the many recordings I made for Electrecord (on LPs) are no more available on market. On my knowledge, they and the many other I made, still exist in the archives of the Romanian Radio and Television. I hope you could access them!

    Sincerely yours, C.G.

  • BEAUTY! Great touch and of course great music!

  • A little fast to my own taste, but very very good playing. Bravo!

  • beautiful melody..extremlm delicate

  • Beautiful tone color, sensitive. Good balanced. Tempo is good I think. It makes it fluent and it is what "andante" wants.

  • Ma sei un pazzo!

  • Very beautiful, but way to fast and insensitively played!

  • not at all .

  • i played this on soprano saxophone, with piano for an audiance, highest grades of the evening:) also gonna play it for my last exam on sax..

i have it also on pc with 4 saxophones, really impressive..

  • I've only played this on the organ - hearing it on the piano brings a whole new light to it. Thanks!

  • Hello cziffra 1980,

The original was written for organon by Frank.

Here is a transcription for the piano by Yves Péan.

We can feel the peace and the whole atmosphere of a cathedral

  • I find it a little quick personally, but this is very well controlled. Which version of the score is this? Friedman?

  • The score is "Prelude, fugue et variation de César Franck - Transcription de l'orgue par Yves Péan. 1925, chez Durand&Fils"

  • Does that mean transcription for organ? This is a piano version though.
