  • I don't want to be rude (to much) but his voice does remind me of home star runner. = 3

  • Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels were more than just armchair philosophers.

They were revolutionaries like George Washington as well.

Philosophy is necessary to logically organize one's thoughts into formal mathematical modelling. But, philosophy and ideas are NOT fact.

Mathematical/computer/logical models are INFINITELY superior to human language to say ANYTHING about ANYTHING that matters. These models are the ONLY way to describe manmade climate change or to compute the magnitude of...

  • @mphello .. anything of importance.

  • @mphello Stupid statist, go read your philosophers which philosophies has always failed.

  • @SarionFetecuse Fucking anti-intellectual retard. Go NOT read books like you already do, and become even MORE retarded than you already are.

  • @mphello Look it's the statist showing his true barbaric colors! Because central planning WORKS soooooo well!

  • @SarionFetecuse Look, it's the hypocritical anarchist who claims he wants no laws, but then runs crying to the government when he thinks he's gotten robbed!

  • @mphello Wow, just wow and you're insulting me? You remind of my cousins, insecure and stupid so you're the first person to call someone stupid, you'd be right if I had a choice to pay taxes. You statist never even comprehend that part. And by the way, I'm the first one to privatise the court system, that's true justice where they have their reputation on the line if they don't catch criminals! not some high and mighty person who serves people, because he's approve by the powers that be!

  • @SarionFetecuse And you know nothing about me or anyone else, yet you go around labeling them "statists", whatever the fuck THAT means. And you want to control and dominate people, because you have already pre-labeled some as "criminals", rather than working out differences rationally and calmly.

  • @mphello Awww, isn't that cute? He calls me a hypocrite, then he's being a hypocrite! Calls me an intellectual retard, and now he wants to have a calmly "rational" debate. I was calm and rational from the beginning when I called you stupid! "Pre-label as criminals," oh my god you are a real marxist aren't you? You have as much knowledge of the market, as the federal reserve chairman. Why would I control and dominate people, when it's my main moral sin is the initiation of force? LOL!

  • @SarionFetecuse And you want silence and arrest and take away the free speech rights of Marxists and for people to express their opinions on Marxism, if there is ANY mention of giving Karl Marx any positive credit for anything.

you are an amoral person who breeds and then rapes their kids.

Read a history or economics book for once. Learn something about different political and economic theories, including Marx, before you spout shit and make yourself a fool.

    Oh, you alread ARE one.

  • @mphello It's pretty sad, when someone has to win an argument by straw maning it, as all statist much do in order to hide the gun in the room from their own mind I see! Ha! Positive credit? First there's nothing positive about it, and second it's in every ivory collage in the North East! And you want me to go read something, (which I've alreadyd one!) When you don't even both reading anyone who's different than you? It's obvious its true you know nothing about what I'm talking about!

  • And the extremist conservative ideologues come out of the woodwork any time Karl Marx is mentioned in a lecture along with other philosophers like Franklin, Rousseau, John Locke, Hegel, or the proven scientific fact of anthropogenic global warming (AGW). All thinking stops. All ability to logically consistently understand anything.

AGW-deniers = evolution deniers = Holocaust deniers = moonloading hoax theorists = 911 hologram theorists

  • @mphello OH my you're an ignoramus! First you call me a conservative, then you tout John Locke as some statist! He was a classical liberal! As am I. Go look up his theories on economics! And Marxism is half implemented around the world you twit, just the other half is painfully unproductive at least for the gain of the statist ruling class. Global warming is the new religion, there has been countless scientist saying Co2 has no relation to temperature, or co2 follows it!

  • @SarionFetecuse And Marxism as Karl Marx wrote in "Das Capital" has BARELY been implemented properly or in full ANYWHERE. Some elements of it are, such as in Scandinavia and Cuba and Venezuela. And where it has been, it has been a success.

AGW has NOTHING to do with "religion". AGW-deniers and 911truthers are the fanatics with a religion.

  • @mphello 911 hologram theorist? Oh you're rhetoric is so fanciful, and tell me, what happened to wtc 7? What did the official 9/11 commission report say? The Cheney, ordered a stand down order! I can't believe a Marxist(tolerant lol) is defending, a group of people, who are responsible for the deaths of millions, and maltreatment of billions, that is directly caused by statism! I wanna see the shit you bring out of the crack pot to try to justify what you've just sad, I'm gonna laugh!

  • @SarionFetecuse And you defend polluters who use violence to kill people who rise up against frackers who poison their water, and against the coal industry and over-consumers throughout the world who force sea level rise on poor nations.

And then like all AGW-deniers and homeopath believers, you don't use reason or proof, but insults and attacks ("alarmist" "crackpot") to make your non-existent point.

  • @SarionFetecuse

  • @SarionFetecuse And where do you get your peer-reviewed proof for how 911 happened? You just go to Alex Jones's blogs and accept as absolute truth anything that lunatic says.

  • @SarionFetecuse And if you want to convince people about the faults of Marxism, then you should explain calmly and logically what your objections are, without resorting to exaggerated scare tactics.

  • @SarionFetecuse Conservatives and anti-Marxists are the least tolerant assholes on the planet. Look at the extreme anti-socialist bias in mainstream media.

Until you give equal airtime to the Green and Socialist Parties on MSM,

STFU. You do not have the mental capacity to properly compute how much free speech different political groups get or allow opponents.

  • @mphello Tells me to be tolerant, than tells me to shut the fuck up, good bye statist.

  • being bad at history doesn't make him bad at understanding science lol but it is a little alarming, oh well

  • @noobler9 the simple fact is he's explaining that scientific doesn't mean "factual" it means "methodology used/able to used" or "able to be tested in a way" he is correct as of about 5:15-30

also, by 20 minutes in, this IS brilliant...

  • Gothic cathedrals weren't built by goths. Wtf, I stopped listening from there.

and wtf, paranormal phenomena are scientific?!?! Oh dear god, enough.

  • Great lecture! I mean, brilliant!

  • For Kurzweil-fans, I might suggest an article titled " The Free Lunch Is Over " by Herb Sutter.

The electronics bubble will burst by 2020 or 2025 when everyone realizes the technology is mature and isn't going to get any better. And there will probably be disastrous economic consequences. Now is the time to short sell electronics stocks if you want to get rich, before everyone realizes what I just said.....

  • @nightvidcole Whadday mean? The electronics bubble has ALREADY burst. Expect no new innovations in the field - not until and unless a revolutionary drastic dramatic quantum leap discovery in deep physics, AND applied in engineering, is made. Specifically, how to get around entropy. Until then, expect to live in a much reduced form of living - giving up cars (1 electric car shared among ten people), bicycling, wind and solar power, growing own food, in a post-oil world.

  • And also, speech recognition has gone almost nowhere in over 15 years and chatbot conversation sounds no less stupid than it did 45 years ago, in 1966, not by one bit. Some people don't want to embrace reality, and I think it might take several decades before Singularitarianism dies out. Just like in the early 20th century a lot of ambitious doctors thought that heart disease and cancer as significant causes of death would be dealt with in 10 years. And they were wrong.

  • The singularity will not happen. CPU clock speed and flops per unit heat dissipation have been at a dead standstill for nearly 10 years. Kurzweil is demonstrably wrong, dream on in your lowly deluded fantasy world if you like, but I prefer reality.

  • OK. I was drunk when I made my first two comments + hadn't heard the entire lecture. I want to be fair to the guy now that I'm sober. He strikes me as an extremely intelligent self taught independent scholar. He's right about a lot of stuff and wrong about some. He is certainly not careful about making historical claims and generalizations, but one can learn a lot from him. -n the end, that's my litmus test.

  • My bad. I was confusing this guy with SU (NASA). He's from SI. He's fast and loose with his historical facts. I hope he's more careful with his code.

  • The Singularity University - Where genius meets insanity. We're all going crazy. Would you like to come along (for $100K per seminar)?

  • 35:30

You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

  • Comment removed

  • Gothic cathedrals were not built by Goths and Gothic is a term that was coined well after the Gothic era.

  • These nerds are quite nerdy...

  • Center for Responsible Nanotechnology Task Force?

Why aren't you talking about the thermite based nano-composities which have been found in the World Trade Center (WTC) dust?

Don't you understand the high school level physics required to irrefutably prove that WTC 7 and the Twin Towers were destroyed in a controlled demolition?

Or is you comprehension of basic materials science just that bad?

Either way, it is pretty clear that you are seriously deluded.

  • "Global Warming" data indicates the world is getting hotter? You have to be kidding me.

It is well established the planet has been cooling for the past decade or so, and that the science behind "Global Warming" is utterly baseless and corrupt.

I suggest listen to MIT Prof. Richard Linden or Lord Christopher Monckton speak on the reality of the "Global Warming" fraud.

  • @bofors7715 I think you'll find the world has been warming for over 25k years... a quick trip to ANY shore anywhree in the world will show you without doubt that what was previously pasture is now part of the continental shelf!

A decade here or there is irrellavant. Planatrary systems and their properties cannot be inferred from a few decades. If fact I think you should ask yourself that very question... 'how' long' an example is required to infer such change?

  • Michael Vassar is beyond awesome.

  • Having a good subject is not enough. You must structure your speech and learn to speak.

  • @becomepostal I take it you didn't like his manner of speaking?

  • @envyshoes It's quite boring, because he almost always speaks at the same rate and tone. Furthermore, the structure is not clearly articulated, neither by him, neither by the written text which is hopelessly still and even distracts us from hearing (powerpoint effect).

I understand he was quite nervous about the speech and can't blame him for that, but there are a lot of minor improvements that could have been brought before the presentation.

Overall it looks like it is a good half-baked cookie.

  • @becomepostal None of your criticisms mention the content of the talk...

  • @pccalhoun That's true, I commented the form, not the content. Nice to see someone read my post and understood it.

  • @envyshoes At first I didn't like his manner of speaking, specially in the beginning when he utterly displays a lack of knowledge about history and claims vague and general ideas about the medial vision of the world, which he did with a quite snob manner.

After that first stage, I liked his manner of speaking because he has a good pronunciation, which makes it message clear for everyone. That's a very good thing. Indeed.

  • @becomepostal Its the AQI... some people like it...others are turned off by it... I worked with an Australian for some time... its almost impossible to tell when they are asking a question...and when they are making a statement. I'm sure many Australians reading this will agree that when conversing in the US and Europe this becomes a problem for them.

  • Comment removed

  • @MumblingMickey I thank you for your explanation. I never really studied neither lived the Australian way of speaking english.

I had a good time enough with the Indian kind of english, when my company hired hundreds of them in order to "reduce costs" (hint: it didn't work as planned, therefore I kept my job for years) (hint #2: yes, communications problems played a big role in this failure, alas for me, because english is not my native language neither).

By the way, what does AQI stand for ?

  • @becomepostal Ohh sorry, should have explained that AQI thing... thought I'd put it in brackets... it stands for 'Australian Question Intonation' Its where somebody says something... but then raises their tone near the end making a statement actually sound like a question... you know the sort of thing... Vasser does it a lot.

  • @becomepostal I agree. I would go even further than what you said:

His talk is nothing extraordinary for any college graduate. I wrote papers of this depth on philosophy of history and the history of philosophy for history, language, philosophy classes in college. And I was a chemical engineering major (Bachelor) and biotech major (Associate).

  • great talk. only 237 views?

  • awe in the distance

    i hope i arrive
