  • I be confrontin, I was in the jeep, sunk in the seat, tinted with heat, beats bumpin, across the street, you was wylin, talkin bout how you ran the island in 89, layin up, playin at ya'll with crazy shine, I cocked the baby nine, that nigga gravy mine, clink um, what was he thinkin on my corner with his baby time....

  • If I write a great horror movie thats what people expect from ...Nas made some ill mafiosa shit in his day and people expect him to keep doing it..gotta grow and move on... thats why 50 cent career is stagnate right now...you can only rap about them bullets in your chin for so long...gotta grow artistically, especially when you sitting on 100's of millions ...NAS makes what he WANTS to make, not what the Label wants him to make...he could care less about sales...his true fans love him forever!

  • i dont understand how you can say nas ''sold out''???

after he makes a tune about a subject.... you have to move on..... stuff needs to be original, if he'd have put out a 2nd album the same as the first, everyone would have ripped him saying he aint got anything different... f u man, ........haters...

  • Aswell*

  • @deak06 illmatic was the best hiphop album ever made. It was written was good aswe

  • 5 people didnt get "the message"

  • Nas only tell the truth

  • To the people who watch this, which is the best Nas album out of either 'Illmatic' or 'It Was Written'?

  • @deak06 you shouldn't ask something like that man, not when you're talkin bout Nas

  • @deak06 Illmatic is universally recognized as his best album and one of the best ever, but honestly It Was Written is my favorite Nas album. This was around the time I really started getting into him. I was too young when Illmatic came out to truly appreciate it until later.

  • @deak06

Coming from an oldhead who bought illmatic on tape when it came out (and ITW too). Illmatic leaves no doubt as the better album. My opinion of course, but it's just more earnest- before Nas blew up (and recruited foxy Brown etc.)

  • Thumbs up for real rap.

  • Shouts out to Nas .... inlighting raps .... made brothas feel good bout ourselves..... 5 *

  • There aint a army that can strike back!

  • ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN

  • all those people who dislike dis son CAN SHOVE DAT FINGER UP DER ASS!!

  • all dose dislikes can suk my Dick!!

  • the sample from this song can be heard on the end of the movie "The Professional" I love how rappers can find innovation in other genres of music. It shows the diversity of the musician and the producer. Don't judge a book by it's cover. This was a Sting sample. i bet there are many other rock influences in rap music. I should know because i like rock and rap and I'm a Black man who appreciates all types of music. It really is universal and blurs all color lines and brings us all closer.

  • the sample from this song can be heard on the end of the movie "The Professional" I love how rappers can find innovation in other genres of music. It shows the diversity of the musician and the producer.

  • @InfamousAct Immortal technique, vinnie paz ? hahahaha you kidding yourself kid what's those guys doin apart from rapping about shit that's been around for 20 years on new age beats ? eminem sellout from day 1 nas sold out for money and fame after his 2nd album dropped..there's nothing more to say,get a grip you weak ass bitch.

  • @KilluminatiiMakaveli Yep nas sure sold out On his second and third album with songs like The Message Shootouts Nas is Like I gave You Power and Yep Vinnie paz isnt real because "I'm eager to learn but i'm holding my breath and Everyday Alive is just another closer to death" Is real wak ass lyrics. Ya thats some fake shit. Dude you have no fucking clue what your talking about so stop typing and go listen to Mr. Thug Life wanna be gangster faggot

  • @InfamousAct fucking child, I'm done with ya, if it wasn't just for the sake of entertainement i wouldn't even respond to your bullshit, I should act more grown up then this since at my age, I guess the booze always get's the better of me in this kind of situations. these be my last words, fuck ya lil punk bitch!

  • @KilluminatiiMakaveli ALCHOHOLIC FUCKING LOSSSSSERRRRR DRINK A LITTLE MORE THEN GO FOR A DRIVE

  • @InfamousAct you're so bleached by caucasian influence in rap music that your proper judgement is totally distorted you cocksucking fag..how about you tell me what praiseful message "the realest" aka eminem has ever included in one of his tracks ?

  • @InfamousAct and let me remind you that you first started this by messaging me about what in your opinion is better, while obivously you only know about mainstream rap since you've gone past puberty in the late 2000's, I'm into hip hop since grandmaster flash and never got of track, should have kept your ugly ass face shut if ya don't know shit, I know what's real and eminem fucking fag is not.

  • @InfamousAct i guess "superman" is your favorite track, that's how you must feel behind ya fucking keyboard.

  • @KilluminatiiMakaveli Pac was NOT "the realest"

  • Comment removed

  • @smacccityent BITCH.

  • 96 was a great year

  • 4 people are gay

  • @Jelke18 why do you have to be all homophobic?

  • @Jelke18 I'm gay and I like this song. Your logic is pretty flawed.

  • @Jelke18 6 people now, people need to listen to good music

  • @Jelke18 3 people came out the closet in the past 5 months

  • @Jelke18 A year later, only four more are. The new year? Looking good. :p

  • nas is wack

  • @RealHipHopSucks93

your comment is a pile of wank

  • @RealHipHopSucks93 Hahaha, alright people, this is what you would call a YouTube "Troll", He makes an account with the user name RealHipHopSucks, and comments on a Nas (One of THE GREATEST emcees of ALL TIME) and says he's whack...He's just lookin for an argument, just ignore him people he just wants attention

  • @AyoliFlame stck the fuck up dume nigger

  • @RealHipHopSucks93 nigga hell fucking no

  • yes one king and that is jesus christ !!!!!

  • four people didnt get the message....

  • my favorite nas eva thanks 4 th post

  • he just had to sign with jay z :'(

    bye nas

  • @menehune58 When Nas Died. Hip Hop as I knew it was dead. A Kings Ransom?

  • @12107170 nas aint dead lol

  • this is his best album with stillmatic. but the thing about it was written was I remember the lyrics but dont remember what songs they are fun. they are like a lot a like.

  • this shit is crazy lyrical...

i see why Pac dissed him now though...

  • @RKG5A5 ??????????????

  • @escobar869 Pac dissed Nas on that song "Against All Odds" and was really sending shots at him before he died because he felt the lines on this song "Fake thug no love you get the slug CB4 gusto your luck low i didnt know til i was drunk though" were directed at him...and plus Nas had said some shit about gettin shot stitched up and leaving the hospital the same night on here too and Pac really did that, so he felt like Nas was tryna use his life for his raps....but Nas never directly dissed him

  • @RKG5A5 Ok I see but you didn't finish your statement so I was a little confused? Your top sentence your giving Nas props and your bottom sentence your taking it away?? I see now Big Homie....

  • @escobar869 im not taking it away...i never understood why Pac dissed him b/c i was too young and i aint really listen to Nas like that back then; i really think the whole thing was dumb, if him Big and Pac woulda came together the shit woulda been sick, but egos clash and real niggas do real thangs

  • @RKG5A5 I totally agree with you Bro. You already know

  • @RKG5A5 just b4 pac was killed , him and nas were cool and actually had some plans to do tracks together. im sure you can find interviews of nas on here talkin bout it.

  • @jbuds82 what does that have to do with anything i said, I know they allegedly squashed it but the disses and subliminals are still out there...and Snoop said that reconciliation never even happened

  • @RKG5A5 same pac beat as well.. A thug changes and Best friends become strangers. Got my gat back how the fuck I get pop. Pac had a gun when he was shot here in nyc.this entire song was a metaphor of pac life..stating he will die in the end. Thats why it was so hard to figure out..nas had everyone confused..even the chorus..I aint the type of brother made for you to start dissing..I never sleep because sleep is the cousin of death..classic diss. Mobb Deep killed pac with drop a gem on em...

  • flat out nobody can fuck with nas he's got in his own category i know why ppl compare him and ofcourse there is goin to be ppl advance but nas kills it street shit

  • Beat is sick...Sting - Shape of my Heart

  • i remember i was in beverly hills like 4 niggas deep in the car rapping to this with all these old rich white people staring at us rapping "you freak niggaz played out get fucked and ate out"

  • just beber have ovr a mill views and nas aint reach have a mill FUCKKN SHAME!!!!!!smh

  • 2 pac and nas is 2 different styles of rap. Pac is more poetic style and nas is more story teller and lyrically! Respect for both!

  • How can anybody say Drake is a real artist, or Soulja boy? come on, nonsense.....

  • nas is my favorite rapper. biggie is awesome too but its sad nas doesn't have as much respect now. Everyone knows biggie cause he got shot and his beef with pac. of course biggies one of the best but so is nas

  • Pun is the number one lyricist hand down thats why when he use to come at these same niggas neck they use to shut down -- but nas is still the best of all time - pont blank

  • I don't know, I wouldn't say that anybody is hands down the best lyricist. Pun definitely had one of the nicest flows though. A lot of people confuse delivery and content. Nas and a few others I can think of had a lot of information combined with a smooth flow, something very hard to pull off.

  • fake thug no love

  • song actually disses big. "There's one life, one love, so there can only be one King"

talkin bout king of new york nas admitted this

  • @cheeks3redskins How is that dissin big?

  • SLICK RICK improved and intensified ESCO THE BEST THAT DID IT.............PERIOD

  • wow 1 of his best songs only 2 verses

  • tHIS WAS FOR TUPAC CB4 GUSTO GET IT AT THE TIME HE WAS THE ONLY DUDE TALKIN BOUT NAS AND THE MOB

  • who was this intended for? and y? any1 kno?

  • Comment removed

  • One of his best. Too bad Pac thought it was aimed at him. But they squashed it before his passing tho

Btw, check my channel! Two tracks off of up coming mixtape!

    (click my channel!!). Upcoming MC!!

    Appreciate it!

  • i always wondering, what he's talking about in the 2. verse, where he speaks about this gunfight.

i just know, that is friend died because of getting shot, but i think he talks about another story.

Is this one a real story oder just invented?

    Does anybody know?

  • @dere2he yeah his friend did not die... nas seen a man that was not on his right blow.. he got out his car with his gun the guy shot nas in the leg and nas pulled out gun and shot and killed him... nas went to the hospital and gave his friends the gun to hold.. nas finds out his friend had somethin to do with it and killed him

  • A thug changes and love changes, and best friends become strangers, if i could show this messege to my old friends i would feel better about the past... oh well live and learn nas speaks the truth...

  • that is a powerful line. its a story in itself

  • agreed

  • The first four bars are a diss directed at TUPAC thats why Pac got at NAS. Bet ya'll never knew that. Thats how intelligent Nas is Killed Pac in just TWO LINE's. PEACE

  • You stupid the first verse was at Biggie cuz Nas, Raekwon, and Ghostface all had beef with him see Shark Niggaz. But Pac THOUGHT it was at him but him and Nas squashed it before he died. "One life on love but there can only be one king." He talkin to BIG about who the King of NY Biggie dissed him on Kick in the Door with "Aint no other king in this rap thing", and in Victory "Duct tapin, your fam Destiny lays in my hands." Destiny is Nas' daughter. Get yo history up. Its all good tho

    -One

  • never heard that side of the story???? Sounds like your blowin smoke out ur ass. iono i may be wrong.

  • It was all in a Premo interview dude, and its hiphop fact Biggie had beef with Raekwon Ghostface, and Nas

  • '' who you thought kick in the door was for? / y'all still flippin on that jigga shit...'' - last real nigga alive,God's Son

  • real talk nas is the best mc off all time...but much respect to pac

  • @mrreeseatl

fuck yeah man, heaps of love to big L

  • @TakeYouToSchool Yeah Big L was nice to me though he was a poor mans NAS

  • @mrreeseatl Immortal Technique > all

  • @GanjaPharmzor As much as I bump Immortal Technique, his flow isn't like Nas'

  • @NyCDeViL9010 np, you can have your opinion

  • dam the whole "it was written" album was pretty sick

  • just sick

  • profound man

  • for sure one of the best songs ever

  • REAL fuckin hip hop. nas stays real while everyone else sells out. dis shit came out in 96 and is still bangin. classic material.

  • damn this song is so tight u had to put in on ur list twice! i don't blame u, tought about buying it but i don't like buying stuff with a little bit of tracks on it

  • Yo let me let y'all niggaz know one thing

There's one life, one love, so there can only be one King

  • there is a ballad performed by a dude with THIS melody, does someone know it?

  • there is one by sting and craig david, the original by sting and a cover from the sugababes called shape of my heart.

  • STING !!! many thanks buddy !!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • One of the best Songs forever!

  • nas is good

  • When i think hip hop i think about this album. this is my favorite album ever.

  • nas is the best. i respect other rappers for business sense but not their skills

  • this shit right here is hip hop, nas, 2pac and the few other legendz hip hop woudent be alive, 2pac and B.I.G. IS DEAD NOW IT'S up to nas to carry hip hop on his back

    R.I.P PAC, B.i.g etc

  • it's not up to nas, it's to the ppl... nas making good albums still and the hiphop don't change for that... we still got jim jones at nr 1 on the top 10 on mtv... for crying out loud, just accept it... hiphop is dead on the mainstream lvl!

  • jim jones is fucking stupid

  • agreed he is shit

nas is the tru nigga ever since the beginning

  • yo can you imagine jim jone's dumbass trying to batlle Nas

  • I would feel sorry for his ass

  • i hear u!

  • this is hip hop not all that shit they play today

  • why do so many kids listen to rap if they dont understand a thing?? ok, they can listen to eminem oder 50 cent, but this shit is classic one...

  • 14 here and I listen to Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Immortal Technique ect...

  • ok, i´m sorry, kids s been the wrong word, i was not talking about age, it´s just sometimes it´s gettin me frustrated hearin people speakin about street tunes like this one, who know nothin about rap.

started listin to rap myself when i was about 14... da luniz, ggg

  • I'm 16, but i've been listenin to this kinda rap for ever

    masta ace

    nas of course

    lupe

    inspectah

    big l

    pun

    immortal tech

    too many to list

  • lol i'm only 15 and im white

    bitch what nao

  • age dusnt mean shit you can be 50 or 15 dosent matter unless its like a 3 year old listnin to cypress hill or sumthin lol now das fuckt up

  • Comment removed

  • @mastaogc Ok i agree this is a classic one but what do you mean by saying "they can listen to eminem..." . I know 50 cent is kinda bullshit but come on, don't say eminem it's a waste of time. That dude is the biggest lyricist of all time and the way he's telling his story is unbelievable. In my opinion he's the best rapper alive (but that's just MY opinion!!) I was hoping to mention lil wayne or soulja boy. Those faggots are a really waste of time. Anyway, good point of view though. Peace <3

  • truuuuuuuuuuuuuu dat

  • Ha, good point about Wayne and Soulja boy..Soulja Boy? what a fuc*in joke! Wayne has skills, but his crew is GAY..how can anybody think Drake has talent? Garbage. Eminem is ill, but Canibus is the best pure lyricist of all time

  • @dmoney668 noo eminem killed the shit out of cannibus lyrically,,, and about best lyracists. id say Rakim,, Big L,, or Kool G Rap... cannibus is alright but never the best

  • Really nice song!

  • to bad mobb deep is the name of a rap group and not one person. Mobb deep is Prodigy and Havoc

  • diggie?

    r u fuckin stupid

  • this beat mixed with nas's words is beyond amazing. nas mash big in battle

  • Nas has confirmed that the song actually disses The Notorious B.I.G. with the lines, "There's one life, one love, so there can only be one King."[1] This lyric challenged Notorious B.I.G.'s title of King of New York at that the time of its release. He responded on the track "Kick in the Door" from his 1997 album Life After Death.

  • WIKIPEDIA :

West Coast rapper 2Pac viewed the first lyrics of the song "Fake thug, no love, you get the slug, CB4 gusto, your luck low, I didn't know till I was drunk though" as a subliminal diss and responded in two songs from his last album whilst alive.

  • fk jigga this nigg is the shit fo real
