  • My mom usually adds shrimp to the pork which makes it more yummier, and instead of using beer, my mom uses raw egg yolk (get rid of the whites). Just place the filling like you normally would and carefully fold the wrapper until you get to the end dab your finger in the yolk and smear it on the end so it's like glue.

  • its a "lumpia wrapper" I bought mine at an asian market by my house. They come in a package and it says "lumpia wrappers" on the front.

  • I personally like the AUTHENTIC vietnamese egg roll wrap " BANH TRANG" I don't think it's Authentic if your using A filipino lumpia wrap.

  • I've had both, I prefer the lumpia wrapper. Its crispy and you don't have to mess with the prep of the rice paper.

  • it's the lumpia (filipino wrap but you can use rice paper cuz my mom usually does. but you have to wet the rice paper first so that it becomes flimsy before wrapping :)

  • Nice tutorial. My mom made them almost the same way, but also included shrimp in them as well. I prefer not to use lumpia wrappers because they're thicker than Chinese eggroll wrappers.

    It would have been nice if you told your audience more about nuoc mam (the dipping sauce). Every time I've offered cha goi to friends and offered them to dip it, they ask what it is. When they find out it's "fish sauce", they say, "no thanks" with that gross look on their face.

  • thank you for posting these videos. I had a friend when I was in Jr. High, and her mom was Vietnamese. She only let me in her kitchen, sometimes to help... especially when making egg rolls!!! I loved her pho, and she also made something with green beans and pork (maybe you have the recipe) and another dish with scrambled eggs. good food and memories!
