I thought this was fake until I walked into a studio one time and started throwing kicks and punches around in the middle of class while it was going on. Needless to say the teacher laid me out and all I remember is waking up outside on the sidewalk. I don't recommend it. I am now missing three teeth in the front as well.
This school has the highest turnover of students at the Gold Coast. Reason being it's a brutal school with no nonsense tuff instructors and an even tougher Sifu
@antzmunkrel I said it's not traditional Mantis Kung Fu and you tell me something from Shaolin?? I am learning traditional Seven Star Mantis Kung Fu since 7 years and believe me, it's not traditional!
@rawboy16 no they're both traditional. seven star is northern mantis and this a southern mantis. despite the name they both have no relation but they're both traditional.
doesnt look like the traditional style! looks like a bunch of white guys that learned from a karate dojo! i have studied wing chun for 2 years! just saying.
a) Obviously you don't know what Karate is. b) white guys? Are you a redneck? c) Wing Chun for 2 years, is that supposed to mean something. The students here with green shirts on have been going between 4 & 10 years (there are, on that note, 8 year old kids smashing solid tiles) and Sifu has been for over 20 years, and is 4th degree master. You are an insult to your own school, and to Kung -Fu in general. Why are you so bitter, did u get a bruise there?
@mantistonglong1 If i am not mistaken, Mathew Hansen trained at Ashmore? I apologise if this is incorrect. It was over 10 years ago i trained there. The major problem i had with them was i also ran a Karate dojo. This did not sit well with them. I was told to close down my dojo or under Sifu Henry Sue's orders they were to beat me up. Weather he ordered this or not, i don't know. But you can tell alot about an instructor by the way his students are. All i wanted to do is learn kung fu.
@MrTriker912 what cunts i train tong long but the people i train with are very humble and happy to teach a new comer like me and my sifu is very nice man
This is martial arts, not a bikie turf war. Why would Tong Long have any threat to a Karate Dojo. I have done 5-6 years of Karate, and I am now a couple of belts into tong long, and having a blast. This seems like a strange thing to do - start training in Tong Long if you are a master of Karate. If you are a true, respected, Karate-ka, why would you air such 'alleged' 10 yr old dirty gossip, on the Mantis page, not the CKFA page (or at all)?
I trained for two years under Sifu Matthew Hansen, an awesome teacher. Was really gutted when the school stopped coming down to my area (Murwillumbah) - I'm going to get back into Mantis down here, in Melbourne... And I'm going to ask special permission to wear my old uniform from up there. Hopefully get back into the swing of it.
Though, he does look tall in these videos, I remember him being quite short haha.
I invented Kung Fu. I am an internet ninja. Now what?

I trained with these guys at ashmore. The style was ok but they are people i could have done with not meeting.

@MrTriker912
That is why we are not affiliated with them and created our own system away from them. Although I do agree with you.
I am sure your experience would be different at the Mantis Kung Fu Academy.
